In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

DNJ REPTILES in Amityville NY... Disgusting Store animals in Poor Health!

Forgot to mention... most of the water dishes look like this one. Also, Josh, can you post a picture of the diamond python that you have on display that looks like it's about to drop dead?

Really? Why didn't you take pics of the other water bowls? And why didn't YOU take pics of the half-dead diamond? Is it because these things don't exist? As was pointed out reptiles do make a mess. You could go into any good pet store and find one fouled bowl or a cage with a tortoise that just took a dump (yes that looks like fresh feces). Are we going to find out you have a grudge with the store owner too?

Angela is dead on. my female bearded dragon will ONLY poo in fresh water. I change it, it's dirty. I change it again right after she does her business and same day... Murky water.

Mine likes to get calcium/vitamin dust all over him and then walk through the water.. Our blue tongue skink is even worse. Even with daily water changes it inevitably gets stuff in it after about an hour or two.

Lenny, what is your relationship with Repxotica?

I'm curious since the post they made earlier in this thread,

Repxotica had nothing to do with this post, nor do we encourage people to post negative comments about our competitors (not even sure who this guy is)....Thanks

was made from the same IP address that you registered your account from a few days later.

I can speak on this actually I work for the Internet supplier. We offer free wifi out side off the home and if a business has us we also give them free wifi with a dual ssid router depending on what ssid they are on it could be the same. I know Repxotica has this as does Dnj since I am friends with both.

I was at Repxotica when I heard about this thread. Apparently people had been accusing them of having something to do with this without any proof. I was a customer of DNJ before they moved and started going to Repxotica last year. The owners of Repxotica are really nice people. I asked if they could post my pictures being that I don't have an account and the owners exact words were "I want nothing to do with it." I'm not great with computers so another customer ran me through creating my account while I was there.

So you where at Repxotica when you heard this and just happens to have photos of Dnj. That sounds a bit odd to me.

For the record, I got to Repxotica too and am inclined to believe them when they say they wouldn't encourage people to post negative comments about DNJ. They're pretty stand-up people who have been there quite a long time. I'm sure its not impossible that they have customers who would do that on their own, but I don't think they'd encourage it.

Leonard's explanation is plausible to me. His IP records show only that his account was registered from Repxotica's location, the posts he has made to this thread were done from another network.

With the nature of the circumstances, I felt clarification was warranted.

The picture that shows a bearded dragon and a uro in the same unlit, unheated cage with what looks like a large afrock crammed into a bare tank above is all I needed to see. Wherever those pictures are from.... they're not acceptable on any level regardless of who took them, who posted them, or for what reasons... in the photos DNJ posted as proof that they are OK, I see many snakes in caging with no real hides or places to tuck themselves away for a sense of security and privacy. A paper towel lining the bottom of an exo terra breeder box and nothing more is not an acceptable habitat for a snake, especially a BCI when it's out in the open and people are constantly walking by. It's stressful to the snakes, if nothing else. If you've got them tucked into a dark, properly heated rack that is one thing... but that's not the case there. I don't really think I even need to say anything about the small monitor as it would be beating a dead horse. I don't see what the OP (disgruntled customer syndrome is the worst) was describing, but I still don't see a whole lot of good.

The problem with having animals in bare cages with no hides, furnishings, or lighting and mixing species together is that YOU as a business establishment... an entity that people trust to be knowledgeable about these animals are sending the message to the general public that these kinds of cage setups are acceptable. How can you tell your customers a bearded dragon needs a hot basking area, UVB lighting, food ever day, water, etc, when none of those things are being provided on the store front? The answer is you can't. Because your customer is going to look at you like you are a hypocrite.

:iagree:

So your aware because you have not been to the store.... The cages you refer to are in a temp controlled room with radiant heat. There are UVB bulbs mounted on the underside if the shelf that sits directly above the cages. The one particular cage you c with a bearded dragon and uronastyx together happens to belong to a customer that is away on vacation and we are babysitting their animals and its by the customers request that they are housed together. As far as the Exo terra breeder boxes those are out babie displays. They are in a temp controlled cabinet that holds at about 88 in the back 80 in the front. The cabinet is only glass in the front and the rest in enclosed so there is no need for a hide since the all the animal has to do is retreat to the hot end and the same effect is there for them. The owner of D&J has been in this business for over 30 years and knows better then most how to properly care for his animals. If you look back on the thread you will see where I state that anyone who has any questions regarding the level of care should come in to the store since pictures are going to do no justice. I urge you to please do so

And for the record. Noone at D&J thinks that anyone at repxitica has anything to do with this. Its all John Seibert no matter what name he chooses to register a fauna account under
