I don't think being a keyboard warrior is a good enough reason to call child protective services on someone. I think he's obnoxious and loves to start drama but none of us know him well enough to decide if he is a bad parent or not.

I think he is mouthy, and I think he should not have been spending money on lizard stuff if he was short of funds and has kids. But CPS? Not from what we've seen.

And another thing. If YOU think so strongly that notification is appropriate it is irresponsible to say 'someone should do it'. YOU should do it, if you really mean what you say. But I don't think such notification is needed from what we have seen.

For the most part, in most cases, you have to know the person personally and/or have seen signs of abuse for most CPS to get involved. You can be charged with a crime for filing a false police report. Of course, being legality minded as you are, you would not encourage someone to file a false police report.

My post was stating that if his online personality is close to his real life personality, I think someone that knows him should call CPS. The simple fact that he is willing to borrow money to get a reptile, makes him a bad parent. How he treats others, is just scary.

I think that in general, saying 'someone should do something about this' if it is that important, is a relegation of responsibility.
BTW if you call CPS in good faith, here where I am, (and in many places) depending on what you have to say, they may not take the report if you don't have personal knowledge, but there are statutes shielding a good faith reporter.

We don't have any proof of any thing near child abuse. We do have a person that is very scary with complete strangers and borrowing money for a hobby. I know a lot of parents that have a hard time making ends meet. For most of them, borrowing money for a hobby is insane.

I take comfort knowing that nobody's online personality is close to real life. The OP enjoys jerking chains. He gets an easy rise of indignation out of us, and he enjoys it. One year from now I doubt if he even has any more bearded dragons. He will have moved onto something else equally unprofitable.

Working at a police dept for nearly 30 years. Believe me, You only want CPS involved if you have proof. It is terrifying for the children and should only be used if your really really in fear of children's safety. Plus I have known many a jerk who are excellent parents.

I think that Justin Almeida learned his lesson, or at least hope so with all that participated in this thread and observing his behavior by how he represented himself. I certainly don't know how he is as an actual person, but in the reptile community I certainly would never give him a warm welcome, and should have gone with my gut instinct when I felt as if he was looking for too much from the get go. It seems to me that he hasn't associated himself with the reptile community, nor wants to due to his Main Objective(s). You can never jump to conclusions with someone, but as sick as this world is Currently, YOU NEVER KNOW.

No doubt Theresa but by page 3 it's obvious this kid would argue that grass is blue and he is 100% correct and nothing will change his mind. By page 4 he showed he is someone to avoid in the reptile world, online and probably in real life also, lol.

Well, I can't argue with you there! Definitely not a rational person, and one to be avoided like the plague. Funny how people's attempts to trash others can backfire. Kind of justice in its own way.

I just wanted to add my opinion and experience with Adam at Hurricane Exotics.

I been talking to Adam now for a few months trying to acquire a certain Bearded Dragon from him. The price was high but in my opinion this little dragon was the cream of the crop that he had available.

So as I was finally about to break down and pay up for what I wanted, a thread pops up on the BOI about Hurricane Exotics. Oh No! My heart literally sank into my stomach as I started reading the tragedy of the opinions loss and a possible deception on Hurricane Exotics part.

As I continued reading I was very confused as to what exactly was taking place, this was very early on in the thread. Left confused and scared from what I just read, I just kept looking at the new updated pictures Adam posted on his website of the beautiful Beardie I wanted.

After closing the Bad Guy BOI thread, I very hesitantly decided to contact Adam one last time, to see if we could work out a deal before the cold season really set in. Adam had shot down my offer multiple times but I figured one last shot wouldn't hurt and if he said No, I may likely be better off after what I had just read. I sent my offer in a text and patiently waited for Adam to reply expecting to hear the usual "No" but to my surprise he accepted with the condition "Payment must be sent today"

As I stood there reading the text, a shiver of dread shot up my spine. I was thinking back to the confusing Bad Guy BOI thread that I just finished reading. I thought to myself "If get screwed, I'm Just probably screwed and that's a LOT of money to get screwed out of weeks before Christmas".

I literally closed my eyes and kept my fingers crossed as I sent payment through Paypal. He almost immediately confirmed back and we made arrangements for shipping.

24 hours later my new Bearded Dragon Arrived!

That's it guys, This Case is Closed!!!

Facepalm. Tons of great reputable breeders and you want to overpay (ok so he came down on price bc hes that broke) for some beardy that was likely horribly cared for (given the present evidence) and essentially flipped to you probably at a markup...Not trying to attack you but please do yourself a favor and buy from well reviewed/honest suppliers especially if the $ is important to you as it sounds. Sorry for rant.
