In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have recently gotten a male adult trans het hypo and he has been acting odd since i got him. When i first got him he was ok looking pretty good size on him but was told he was ready for burmation. So over the next few weks i kept an eye on him and he as very shakey (like he was cold and shivering just head) and also acted uninterested in greens at all.So over a few more days he began to lose weaight fast and was getting skinny fast.
I tried dubia , mealworms, superwrms and crickets and none of these he even seemed to see or care for.
So i tried a small mouse and he didnt even notice it BUT the mouse was white.
I tried a black mouse and he dove off the log and slammed into the wall trying to eat it.He proceded to try and try and try but just couldnt hit it.
All my other dragons have 100% aim even when after a mouse they all never miss always head shots but this guy cant hit it to save his life.He did however get it finally and didnt even eat it.
Well its been about 4-5 weeks now and he is starting to eat dubia but has a reallllly hard time hiting them.Today i noticed he is still shaky but is starting to get some intrest in greens and what not now even ate few crickets.
?
Guess my question is?
Is their a know condition in translucents causing blindness due to eyes going black or anything else know to cause blindnes or stress to the eyes.

Thanks
Matt

It sounds to me like your dragon is suffering from something that's affecting the central nervous system and/or brain area...Thiamine deficiency can produce these symptoms sometimes. Thiamine deficiency is seen in animals fed frozen fish, clams, vegetation, and invertebrates. According to Doug Mader, DVM...the clinical signs include twitching, incoordination, blindness, seizure activity, spinning, and a bunch of other neuro-type symptoms. It could be something else, but this was the first thing that came to my mind, since you said he hasn't been eating for you. If it does turn out to be Thiamine deficiency, then it is easily treated with vitamin B1.

Matt, where did you buy this dragon from?

The head was twitchy? like shaking or a vibrating look??? its slow and weak? does it lay around alot? Also when it tryes to eat it lunges at the food and misses, does it run to the food or take alittle extra time getting there??? It kinda sounds like M.B.D. the vision part doesnt have anything to do with M.B.D. but all the other symptoms fall right into play. You can try and feed it straight calcium that you would dust your crix with, to boost the calcium in the dragons body. See if its more active and has an easier time getting food. Just a suggestion, that isnt costly and cant hurt the dragon. It will also help rule out M.B.D.
How to get the dragon to eat the calcium??? Alittle trick, take the tip of your finger and dip it into water then dip it into the calcium. then one of two ways are, to pull the lower jaw open by gently pinching the beard an lightly pull it down and put a small amount into the dragons mouth. then it will start licking. then sneak alittle more calcium in by touching you finger( With the calcium on it ) on the dragons tongue as its licking. second method would to be pull down the side of the dragons lip and put some calcium on its lip. let the lip fold back in and then the dragon will start licking then repeat the finger/calcium on the tongue.
Hope it helps Matt.

With a calcium deficient dragon liquid calcium administered with a small feeding syringe is the easy way. make sure its sitting under a fresh 10.0 uvb.

You really need to get a good herp vet involved.

Yea, a liquid be would great also. you can go to wal mart and buy a " liquid coral calcium".

Ed makes a good point,:yesnod: at this time the dragon def. seems to have a noticeable problem that needs to be attended to. But make sure it a "reptile vet." a dog and cat vet will probly not know the correct way to treat this animal.
So you did a trade with Annapolis bearded dragons, and he came in with that problem??? i think i would be up set to trade out a good animal for a animal with a sever problem you may want to contact him, if you havent already and try to square that away.

I have contacted them and they just said he was fine when they had him???
Yeah im a little upset cause i traded a female leatherback and 2 hypo dragons for this one and he barely moves.Yes he is slower than normal and yes its a shake like he is weak and just lays around.
The other day i cleaned his cage and pt him back he didnt move from that spot for 2 days until h finally went to a baskiing area.?
I am going to take him to the vet asap but will have to wait till i can afford being a dragon breeder in these times while unemployed is frekin hard.
My babies atm are my main concern and cricket bil is adding up fast.

So your just going to let them give you the shitty end of the stick? Thats that? he was fine now somethings wrong??? sounds like b.s. to me... thats the same as selling a dragon with a problem... and if its m.b.d. that animal may not be healthy enough to breed... if it were me i think i would be voicing my option alittle better.

na man you need to pursue this further. i know he is getting out of breeding and all but those are deffinate signs of serious problems. either MBD or something more serious but either way you need to talk to them on their sale ad or make a thread in the boi. Dont just let them screw you over like that. The dragon wasnt right when you got him and they told you he may be brumating well its apparent that that was not the case so he needs to do something to fix this.

I get my crickets from ghanns cricket farm awsome prices and great service.

I dont know what to ask or say to him.
? should i ask for the 3 dragons back and for him to cover shipping costs and just act as if never happned or ?

exactly how long have you had him? do you have copies of the emails with your initial concerns of his behavior where they were passed off as being burmation?

If i remember correctly i got him in october mabe sooner but i have had him for a few months now with very little looks of getting better.
I dont have any of the emails still but i do have the emails of when i sold him the hypo red orange girl he is selling for $500 that he only payed $400 for and dosent seem to be any bigger.Anyway im just upset now that im stuck with a dragon that i traded 3 amazing dragons for to get a dragon that wone be able to breed which is the only reason i even got him is cause he was ready to breed.

unfortunatley without email proof to back things up its not going to be worthwhile to bring this public. If anthony is unwilling to work with you than i fear there isnt much you can do considering that it has been since October. 3 months is far to long to have waited and allow him to string you along. After a few weeks you should have contacted him stating your unhappiness with the deal

may be to late my man

. that is one sickly boney dragon... i think i am going with bryan on this one. I dont personally know anthony but I have spoken with him a few times prior, and i am not fond of him. he sent a "friend" over to my table at the reptile show trying to get a deal on a animal instead of coming over and introducing himself properly. So that was kinda odd.
But waiting months to seek help for that dragon is well past due. And to try to get some kinda closure for the terrible trade. honestly at this point no e-mails and being this long from when the trade happened your probly stuck, and this should be a lesson learned for you and others out there reading this

id say he was a lil bit bigger if not exactly the same and i remember these pics were taken just after i contacted him and he said not to worry he wouldnt eat for a few months as he just went down for burmation. which WAS stated in the ad before i bought him, however i contacted him mabe less than 2 weeks after purchase and asked if the dragon was blind and asked if he used florescent uvb 10.0 bulbs which i have read to cause blindness due to being to bright. He stated that he Did use them but never herd of blindness due to bulbs and then we just stoped contact.
