Donel, I just spoke to Ray (who is not going to reply anymore to this thread) who told me that he is NOT trying to call Shaun a liar. He showed me the pics that they took of the cobra they sent Shaun, and the pics that shaun e-mailed him. They do not look like te same snake at all to me. This could be a photography thing, I don't know. The reason Ray said he gave shaun a credit is because he was NOT willing to call him a liar, or directly state that the snake was switched, so he gave him the benefit of the doubt. The pics were looked at by Ray, his partner, and (who helps Ray at the warehouse), and it was obvious to them that the snake was not the same. To Ray's credit, he did give him a full credit, and he said Shaun was fine with that. Keep in mind that this incident was months ago, so everyone is going by memory. Ray said that at the time Shaun never gave any explaination or defense about the pics looking like different snakes, but simply told him he would take the credit and replacement of cooks boas and anacondas (or whatever). Obviously this does not make either one of them liars, but again to Ray's credit he did send Shaun replacement animals. I also know for a fact that Ray made good to the customer that startd this thread (I believe Mrs. Johnson). So the fact that he is willing to make good on deals (even when there may be some doubt about claims) should say something for him. Now as for the conditions of the animals he sent, I do not know, but I see Ray refuse to send people animals all the time that he feels are not fit to be sold. He gets all imported animals, and we all know this biz well enough to know how some of the imports come in. Many should not be sold, and Ray will not ship them knowing something is wrong with them. But his record seems to clearly show that if you do get a bad one (as we all have from time to time) he will make good on it. But he can't make good on something he does not know about. I asked Ray about the cooks and anacondas he sent Shaun, and he simply said " I don't know, this is the first I heard about it". If Shaun opted not to inform Ray of the problem, we can't hold that against Ray. I also know that both of thier decissions to stop doing business with each other was a mutual thing. I can't blame Shaun for not wanting to risk bringing in a sick snake to his collection, and I do not blame Ray for his feelings that the two of them would no longer do business. It was a mutual decission that I can respect. Ray is well educated, but even his grammar and spelling is not always perfect, but on the other hand, you got to admit that to state in a BOI that you are just trying to "bash" someone (and are feeling good about it) does appear to some readers to be a little childish. At least Ray PM ed him instead of writing for all to read. If Shaun wants to share Ray's PM, that is up to hm, and Ray had no problem with that. Shaun told Ray that he wanted to have the last word (and even wrote "got ya last!"), so Ray was letting him have the last word on this thread (which is why he PMed Shaun instead of posting on the thread). Ray says he would love nothing more than to be able to ONLY sell c.b. animals, but for right now he is in the import biz, selling quantity to distributers, and sells very little to individuals via the internet etc. I think most of us have bought imports at some time or another that were not in c.b., or long term captive condition. I know I have, and have not always gotten refunds or credits for these animals. So to me the bottom line is that when this does happen, and if he is notified, Ray does make good on his deals (which is more than I can say for some other importers). He advertises that unless otherwise noted, the animals are imports, and should be treated as such. How he holds up to a lot of people bashing him for a mistake that he already made good on really should not be the issue. He was given some good avice by some of the pro readers of this site to ignore the bashing, and move on, and that is what he is doing. BTW he will be upset with me for even posting this reply. I would bethe first to bash Ray if he did not do all he could do to treat people fairly by not making good on animals that are no good. He has a lot of medical knowledge (and a lot of knowledge of venoms and venomous snakes) but he is not a vet, s he does the next best thing by making good on anything like his and the Taiwan Beauty snake. What more can be asked of him?
Not my problem, not my business, but fair is fair. As Ray say's "Whatever"
Thanks for listening to my sermon
