    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just found it to be an odd coincidence...

I didn't read through everything on the thread, otherwise you're right, I would have noticed that it was an issue occurring at all membership levels...

I had this happen to me several times on this site recently.
 
Well, I just fired the "security" outfit. They aren't even listening to what my programmer is telling them, nor to what I described originally as the problem. I found another guy who is very highly thought of on WebHostingTalk, so I'll see what he can do. He's been pretty quick to get back to me with emails and already made some suggestions "off the clock", so hopefully he really knows what he is doing. Those kinds of people are SERIOUSLY in short supply on this planet. Too many people want to simply grab the money and run, and hope you are so much less educated about what they are doing than they are that they can just blow enough smoke and dance around that you don't realize there is no fire and music there.

My patience is REALLY running thin over this.
 
Sigh....

Not going to be any easy way out of this one. The new server security guy says my OS is basically toast. It's surprising the sites are still running at all.

So, I'm going to be getting a new server, since the hardware is certainly outdated by now on this one. Things are going to get ugly around here pretty soon, so expect some random outages. I'll let the half dozen or so members who check in to this forum what I can when I can.
 
Fun times...guess I know what you're doing this weekend.
(Don't worry, I've got a couple of my own money sucking, time consuming projects that I'll be immersed in for the next 3-4 days)
 
On a happier side note, I haven't been "exploited" or redirected once today. :)

I do hate hearing that the OS is toast and that the "security" guys you paid to do their jobs were so inept ... all because some :censored: hackers want to ruin a good thing and cause havoc.
 
Rich, I had no idea this has been an ongoing problem. It was just this past week I've experienced only a couple redirects to adultfriendfinder and a couple redirects to freelifetimemobiledates over the past week.

If you're going to upgrade I would recommend looking into a Mac OSX Server.
 
I'm going to be sticking with a Centos/Cpanel server. If this new server guy works out well I will likely retain him to manage my server indefinitely. Increases the monthly cost of my server by 50%, but this is a lesson learned: Don't trust your server hosting company to do proactive monitoring of your server's security. A SPECIALIST is needed. I REALLY don't want to have to go through sometime like this again. Actually it's pretty embarrassing to have people getting spammed by porn from hacks into my sites. Sort of makes me feel like myself and the moderators smiting spammers trying to infest this place through registrations has pretty much been a wasted effort.

Anyway, I've got a good candidate for the replacement server offered to me, that may be a decent increase in performance as well. Just making sure all the little duckies are lined up in a row.

Great description. Describes some professionals, some politicians, some home improvement contractors, you name it.
Finding excellence and competence anywhere can be a breath of fresh air. I'm glad you found one.
 
I am getting so DAMNED tired of fielding emails and PMs about this problem..... Doesn't ANYBODY check this damned Feedback Forum at all when they have a question or concern about this site? :angry: I've got enough friggin' crap to deal with over this.....

Being one of the people that PM'ed you about it, Ill say I dont think people do check this part of the site. Ive been here since '06 and never really noticed it was even here, and wouldnt have known to go here with it if I had.

Sorry for how I might have sounded, and I didnt realize you had that many responses about it, but given how tonights events in my house went concerning it I thought Id at least say something. But thanks for directing me here. Now I know.

Rich, It might be worth your while to send out a site message from your VB control panel. It is fairly easy to do and it will alert everyone to go here for the redirects for more info. If not than you should expect some feedback via PM.

Uh yeah. Send out 84,000 emails. Of which probably at least 20,000 of them will bounce back because the emails used by those accounts are no longer valid. Yeah, THAT will be fun..... :nonod:

Where's that Excedrin bottle?
 
I think you're going to need a bottle, but not Excedrin :)

Good luck, I haven't had any redirects since the one incident.
