In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

P.S.  Thanks a Million Adam

Since your main goal seems to be posting in any topic about me I'll go ahead and reply to all with this.

Casey, you have got to be the BIGGEST pain in the butt I've ever dealt with.  You paid extreemly fast!  Then you emailed me 13 times over the course of the 16 days it took for you to get the cloth.  It took me less then 2 weeks to ship your item and that still wasn't good enough for you.  To top it off the cloth was something that can't be found in the Country so you wouldn't have even had another option.

You seem to also be quite the two face as I went the extra mile to phone you so you knew you're money was safe and the item would be sent.  At that time you'd told me you've been ripped off in the past and were overly worried about it.  I'd said sorry things took soo long and you accepted although it must have been fake as you're still being a baby about it.

You are a classic example of somebody who's money isn't worth the pain in the butt you are to deal with.

Payment was made 8/6
Refund offered 8/16 (Was told he would rather have the wire.)
Shipped 8/19

You're one of the people that ignored my fine print and is still acting like a child about it.  You had nothing bad to say on the phone when I made the effort to call you and put you at ease but I see that you have no trouble running off at the mouth when you're hiding behind your computer.

Adam Block

Adam, so you are saying it took you 13 days to ship an inanimate object?  Temperature was not an issue in this case?  Why would it take so long?

It sounds like this is a 50% good and 50% bad kind of guy. If I were you I would count your blessings.

Perceptions, perceptions, perceptions.  Dr. Phil mentioned on yesterday's show (my wife MAKES me watch it, but secretly I like my fellow Texan) that "there is no reality, only perceptions."  Good quote!  What I've seen on the BOI are perceptions. Here's my perception, until it changes.

Adam built me some functional, strong racks.  He built four of them for me and didn't know me from, well, Adam (pun intended). He did so on the promise of a trade.  I live in El Paso; he lives in Tucson. We are not related. I'm NOT on his payroll. But . . . he accepted that promise, although he did have reservations at first. He was smart enough to check with one of my Tucson references.

Let me cut to the chase here.  He built the racks; we met at my favoirte herper's restaurant in Tucson (Casita de Molina--operated by herper Marty Molina's family); we made the trade.  Two days later I picked up the racks.  They were well designed; they are proving to be quite functional.

So my perception is that Adam is a square shooter.  Is he perfect. I think not.  Is he dishonest.  I think not.  And the BOI is designed to root out those that are dishonest.  It is NOT, in my perception, here for a few to keep an ongoing character assassination in progress!  Some of you--and you know who you are--are doing this.  Take on the thieves and the dishonest dealers who prey on all of us.  Adam is NOT one of them.  But enough of my perceptions.  I'm sure there are assassins just waiting to begin an attack on my character because MY perceptions don't match theirs.

You say "tom-ay-to," I say "tom-ah-to."

Exactly how is it "character assassination" to point out that someone has not lived up to what was expected of him?  Maybe I'm wrong here (feel free to correct me, anyone), but I don't think anyone was overtly calling Adam dishonest or a thief.  As far as I recall (admittedly, I haven't read all the pertinent posts again), all anyone was saying was that Adam is taking his own sweet time to ship stuff that was paid for by people needing their purchases.  I have said that Adam comes off as an egotistical jerk at times (I probably do as well, at times), and I have said that I wouldn't buy from someone so laid back that my (ie: the CUSTOMER'S) time frame is appearantly of little or no importance to him.

It is EXACTLY this type of information being dissiminated about an individual or a business for which the BOI actually WAS designed, however.  The fact that you would limit its use to your personally-defined bad guy situations may play well in your perceived world, but surely you wouldn't compell us to follow your perceptions would you?

Oh, by the way, your comment, "I'm sure there are assassins just waiting to begin an attack on my character because MY perceptions don't match theirs," does the word "assassin" applied to those with whom you disagree imply any bit of hypocrisy to you?  I find it a bit too funny to let pass without comment.

is it me or is Adam asking his customers to come on here and post good stuff about him? Because these post seem to be coming out of the walls.

I remember along time ago someone else asking their customers to post on the BIO. You all know who I'm talking about.

Franklin, I'm interested in some of those "Quality Frozen Reptiles" <grin> What all do you have?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

Mike Greathouse...

Hmmm......is Adam asking his friends and customers to come defend him?  Proboably not.  I think that the topic of him being the main focus of the BOI this past month may have come up while dealing with new(or old) customers, and maybe they were just interested in what was going on.  I have dealt with Shannon, I see him posting on kingsnake.com classifieds with great animals for sale.  I don't think he'd just come in here to defend Adam because Adam wanted him to.  I think he was just stating that his dealings with Adam were positive.  I would like to ask the question, however: How many of you who are posting negatively have asked friends of yours to come and BASH Adam?  I think it is just as an appropriate(or absurd) question as Mr Edwards'.

I can honestly say that I would have no idea how to react to having someone post about my "bad business" and then have 50+ posts telling me that I am a fraud, or that everyone should stay away from me, etc.  If you back someone into a corner, what do you expect him to say?  I'm thinking back to my original thread and I recall that most of the posts were negative and I ended up giving the guy more money back than he sent me!!! Like I have said in the past, it seems once you are labeled something, like "Derek Roberts aka [email protected], possible ripoff??", then ALOT of people jump on the bandwagon.  There are ALWAYS 2 sides to every story, so don't jump the gun too soon, there may be someone's reputation at stake.  And that person who you bash or label negatively, may just be the person with the one thing you are looking for at a "must have" price.  Just another $.02 on my part.  Derek Roberts

Good Points  Derek.

And Mike I know my wife told me to change it to

Quality Reptiles and Frozen Rodents

But I already orders 50 T-shirts. LOL

I hear it all the time.

Unfortunately, I believe he is doing just that:

Thanks for the kind words Matt!!  I've started giving the info from this board to the people I deal with and telling them to post on their dealings with me be them good or bad.

I do not believe this is an appropriate way to use the BOI.  Certainly most people will develop the opposite opinion than what would be intended, since most people will naturally assume (correct or not) that the cards are being stacked.

Remember Jerry Tubbs?  He did exactly the same thing and suffered quite a bit of backlash over it.

Adam, this sort of thing is STONGLY discouraged here.  Your intentions may be innocent, but perceptions may not be what you had intended.

Hmmm......is Adam asking his friends and customers to come defend him?   And in Adams own quote, that you just stated, "State your dealings with me whether they be good or bad."  He did not say, "Oh please, come defend me."  He was not excluding people who have had bad dealings with him.  case in point, Casey Hulse's statements.
I've started giving the info from this board to the people I deal with and telling them to post on their dealings with me be them good or bad.  I see nowhere in this statement where is is asking for some one to defend his actions, just wanting actual people he has dealt with to give their opinions.  Derek Roberts

Someone please explain the problem with telling those who have dealt with me to post your dealings good or bad. To say it's inappropriate is funny in itself. I see other posts with people asking for their customers to do it and i don't see anyone complaining about it. Seems like alot of people are adding their  pennies worth so why is he not allowed to have people post theirs. This has nothing to do with Jerry tubbs so why even drag that here.    Adam you should have all your customers post their dealings with you regardless of what they say. It's perfectly fine. The ones who haven't dealt with you have no room to speak as they don't know first hand.

I can promise that Adam did not ask me to post here. As far as people who jave not dealt with him having"no room to speak", I disagree. Adam has made it very clear where his priorities lie. Is it possible that these posts may cause Adam to be a little more profesional in the way he services his customers. I think so. Which is another good reason for people to voice their opinion, even if they have never dealt with the individual.

If you have never bought from someone please tell me how you can call that person good or bad. If Adam is comfortable with how he handles his business then he will not change because some people comment on things they don't know anything about other than from others. By the way i'm not refering to you just those that come here and say things about what's posted.

Remember, if you haven't bought from him, traded with him, or had email contact regarding a possible trade or sale you have nothing to say about how he runs his business. Only those who  have need to.

So would that mean that I, as a white person, if I saw some skinheads beating a black person, should have nothing to say about it, since I am not related to that black person or the skinheads?  I think not.  I can and do judge anyone I want to, on anything I want to, regardless of whether or not I have had personal experience with them.  As I stated somewshere else on this board, I do not have to have personal experience with something to decide whether it is bad or not.  I have never been hit by a truck, but I am pretty sure it isn't a good thing.  I have never been stiffed or kept waiting for an unreasonable amount of time by Adam Block, but I would imagine I wouldn't like it if I was.  Have you ever shot yourself in the head?  NO?  Why not?  Is it beause you have heard from others that the effect is a bad one?  I think this clearly demonstrates that everyone, including you, makes judgements based on what others have said or done.  This being the case, I am as qualified to make a judgement on Adam's business practices as anyone else is who has posted or had dealings with him.  Or does everyone have to be electrocuted before it can be agreed that playing with live wires is not smart?  (meaning does everyone have to be kept waiting for no good reason in order for us to conclude that he has poor business ethics and no consideration for his customers if their needs aren't convenient to him)

Logically I (as well as many other people) would have to assume that someone telling their customers about the BOI, much less encouraging them to post there, would likely not do so to a customer with whom they had an unpleasant experience.  For that reason, I stated that it is inappropriate to solicit reviews from your customers and I stand by that statement.

This board is now two years old and in that time I have sent out a few shipments of animals and sold maybe one or two at the shows we attend (not one to exaggerate, now am I?).  NEVER have I asked someone to post about me here.  Nor will I.  At best, if someone mentions to me a problem they are having with someone, or if someone tells me about an especially good experience they had, I will mention the BOI and then encourage them to post about it there.  But I will not seek a public pat on the back myself, for that is what it would appear to be.

So yes, you can tell people about the BOI, but still, I think it inappropriate to suggest that they post about YOU in it.  It just seems, well, tacky to me.

And no, I am not targeting Adam with this.  Certainly it may have happened in the past with other people, but this is where and when I have noticed it right now.  It was VERY noticeable with Jerry Tubbs a long while back, and many of the old timers in here certainly remember that situation well. Which is why I used it as an example.
