• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

FaunaClassifieds upgrade now in progress

It doesn't appear that I am being automatically subscribed to threads that I reply to.
Kevin - your profile is set at Do Not Subscribe...though I can't say if that is a result of the upgrade or one of the tweaks (none of my settings were changed). You can reset it in your User CP: Settings & Options/Edit Options, Messaging & Notifications/Default Thread Subscription Mode.

One thing I noticed, when you were logged in the little folder icon to the left of each post used to have a white arrow through it if it was a post you had replied to. That's not there anymore. It was a handy icon to quickly identify the threads in the new posts list that you were already participating in.

I attempted to use the privacy feature associated with birth date info and that feature does not appear to be functional. I do get this error message however, each time I try to edit:

A required field called Where did you hear about FaunaClassifieds? is missing or has an invalid value.

ah - nevermind...I forgot I had all those extra sections closed. That info is in the mini statistics section. The privacy feature offers several options, including not showing any of that info....did you remember to click update at the bottom of the page?

I thought that once you ladies reached a certain age, you quit worrying about letting your age out? LOL

But, It doesn't give your birth year, if that makes you feel any better. Not that they made calendars back then anyway. :>poke2<:

Maybe it's just me, but where is the spell check now? :shrug01:

This was actually disabled a while back. It's one of those performance issue options that I was trying out when we were having problems with server sluggishness. There are a LOT of admin options that can drastically affect the speed of this site, so I try to be judicious about the ones I enable.

A MINOR note, Rich.
When I log in on the home page, it brings me back to the home page seemingly not logged in (no messages, new posts, etc). I say seemingly because if I then go to the forums, my normal screen appears and it is business as usual. From there, I can go back to the mainpage (via the address bar, not the back button) and all is as it should be.

Not a big deal, as I leave myself logged on at home, so I don't have to deal with it there...but since the upgrade, it has happened every time I have logged in from a different machine.

Check to see if the prefix "www" is in both URLs when you switch from one page to another. This can sometimes have that affect on logins.

When you go in and edit some of your profile fields, the system will check the validity of all the values. Some values are REQUIRED during registration to help foil spammers using automated bots to register. But this requirement also gets triggered if you edit some values and those fields do not have values assigned to them.

Simply put SOME value into that field and the system will be happy.

Well then, if it was disabled a while back then perhaps I didn't use it as much as I thought I did because I hadn't actually noticed it until this morning. :dunce:

Thanks Harald. Actually I think I did that by accident. I was trying to cut down on the emails and hit the wrong thing.

Can anyone tell me what this RSS News is that posts in the "Herps in the News" forum. Seems to be posting every herp related news story for the past 6 months.
