In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Fire and Ice Dragons (Terri Sommella)

If you read her response, the clutch is not up to size. I did just send her an email requesting pictures and current status.

She keeps going back and forth from weather to size being the issue.

I guess I opened this thread as I feel as though I am getting the run around. I am stepping into the breeding ring after doing tons of research and a huge investment of time and money.

Again my issue isnt with the shipping. I absolutely do not want her to ship me a dragon only to have the animal arrive dead. I will wait patiently for the weather but I think there is more at play than just the temp.

Tom,

His concern is to why is a dragon that hatched out in June rounding up to 6" in an 8wk. time frame. He stated that he requested for a refund because of the possibility of something health related problems with the "stalling"/waiting involved.

And why quote me when I'm only generally speaking? I was simply stating that it's common for babies to reach that size in the given time frame.

If Josh finds out she's stalling or she completely bamboozled him out of his money, I'm sure he'll let everyone on here know.

Josh, talk to Terry... Find out what's going on then post your findings.

Shine,

i dont know if you have read this whole thing, BUT the op is getting multiple excuses as to why he doesnt have his dragon at the moment. I dont know if your personally a friend of hers. But you seem to be making excuses for her!!!

If 2 months is common for a dragon to get to 6 inches you may want to re-invest in new breeders. unless your breeding dwarfs or rankins "lawson" dragons.

* No pics because of consistent shedding.:icon_bs:

* working around heat. How long is that going to go on for??? I ship from 25 degrees f. to 104 (as a high). I do understand shipping conditions in exteme conditions

*Needs 8 weeks to get 6 inches.:icon_bs:

* 2 separate incubators so its a 10 day difference. then one incubator had to have been running at 5-6 degree difference to get a 10 day delay in hatching. I have tested this.

These are multiple reasons as to why he doesnt have the animal. If she said bad weather and stuck with it fine! but she did not. If she sent pics that would also be fine. she said she likes two sheds under the dragons belt before she sells. but then she says "there "ALWAYS" in shed." So is that not a conflicting statement? There's to many reasons here. and it sounds like a run around. thats all i am saying.

This entire thread is a pure testament to why you should NEVER pay for something before it hatches. I detest the practice of selling eggs personally (which is what you did you purchased an egg and a guarantee of color that the breeder could not possibly be 100% certain they will follow through with)

You are in a position of having to sit and wait. I do not think this deserved a bad guy thread, at least not yet.

She followed up by telling me that it would be another 4 weeks before the dragons would be the correct weight and size for shipping.

Can you post the email here where she stated that it would be 4 more weeks before your animal would be big enough to ship? Thanks!

:iagree:

how do you buy something that the breeder doesnt even have yet?

I'll also add right now, i have had RED breeders only produce YELLOW babies. how many ppl would be upset if they bought a baby from a red breeder and it came to them yellow. What if she lost power and lost the clutch of eggs that you purchased a baby from. You think she has that 375 you gave her a month and a half ago???
Surprisingly there are alot of people who will be more than willing to pay up front or put a deposit on babies that havent even hatched yet. Thats kinda dumb on the buyer and sellers part. You cannot guarantee anything until time of sale!!! Thats a Guarantee!!!

I will concede that it was stupid on my part to pay for something was not yet here. I do not plan on selling my babies that way but talking to her, that was how she does all of her clutches.

As far as where she said it would be another 4 weeks, that part should be posted already.

:iagree: I agree with you here Brian.

Agreed... and thus the reason I haven't taken any down payments on one of my clutches. I think I have every egg spoken for (if they all hatch).... I wont sell any UNTIL they hatch and I have babies on the ground. There are just tooo many things that can go wrong in incubation.

I dont sell eggs... I maintain a list if folks want whats in the egg... and I notify AFTER it hatches to offer babies for sale.... not eggs.

I am sorry that many of you do not agree with this thread. My intention was not to jump the gun and throw someone under the bus just for the fun of it. I have a geniune concern from a fairly large breeder.

I guess if all else fails, someone can learn from my mistake and not pay for something before it hatches. I do think however that many of you would share my concern if you had a were in a similar position.

There is also the issue of weather. We have had very few days where we can ship anyone's dragon in the past 3 weeks. This week again it is over 100 degrees. As I am sure you have heard on the news, this is the hottest summer on record. No one could have foreseen this when factoring in timeframes to ship. However, if you want us to ship your dragon in temps above safe, please let me know. As long as you assume full responsibility, we will ship your dragon.

Sound good?

Regards,

Terri

Hmm - Way to care about the dragons she produces! Maybe it is just me but if a customer insists that I ship when not safe I refund and don't sell to them. I know the OP did not ask for her to specifically ship in hot weather but SHE offered to ship when she knew it was not safe.

IF all that she says is true, she could easily take a pic of the dragon. If they are taking that long to grow, they are NOT in "constant shed" that is a bunch of it.

I agree it may have been a little early for a bad guy post but I can't really blame the OP for wanting some support on this one. The whole situation sounds pretty sketchy. I would be pretty nervous about the whole thing if I was in the same situation. Sometimes it just takes a little post on the BOI to get a person to do the right thing. Hope everything works out.

There is an "inquiry" icon. and he could of went about it that way. But there is room for concern, so i can understand why he came to b.o.i. Its almost 400 bucks. is not like its a bad guy thread for "20.50" (recent thread)

Thank you David.

I am hoping in the end that everything will work out. I guess I have been spoiled from buying beardies on this site and having nothing but excellent experiences every time.

The point I am trying to get across to folks is that I don't think I am getting completely honest answers from her. The dragon I purchased was not her most expensive. I would not want a member of this community to pay top dollar and have the same experience I have had.

In the future, I will exhaust all resources and have a waiting period before resorting to the BOI. I honestly feel as though I have tried to have an open line of communication with her but I am just not comfortable with her answers.

Tom... Are you trying to make the OP more paranoid? What more can he do but wait regardless of the :icon_bs: she's dishing out.

Lol, no not more paranoid... just kinda saying " i understand why he came to the b.o.i. " But maybe it was alittle soon.

I think he has two legit points (not counting the other two excuses) to be worried or to think that he is getting the run around.

BUT, she is still in contact with him, and she is still making it seem like there is a dragon coming. :shrug01:.. so lets hope she holds true to her end.

The only thing the OP really has to worry about is whether he gets his monies worth... There's no doubt he'll get his dragon, but there's a possibility it might not be "all that with a bag of chips"
