In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Fla Fish And Wildlife

Dang it! They should be just like the deep south cops in the 70's movies and just take the fine in cash from the out-of-staters at the show. Who cares?

"Broken tail-light? $50 fine boy!" "See ya'll next year and have a nice trip home, son."

Here is why I do support the FL Fish and Wildlife Commission (not for arresting Mort)

STATE FORMS CAPTIVE WILDLIFE COMMITTEE

Animals, People Likely Not Safer

( Florida ) - With tragic incidents of human injuries and animal cruelty in the media's recent spotlight, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced plans to review the state of the State's captive wildlife. Last month, the FWCC announced that they had formed a Captive Wildlife Technical Assistance Group to review current captive wildlife regulations and suggest changes that would improve Florida 's rules.

With the escape of Bobo the tiger and other less publicized, but equally troubling episodes still looming over the FWCC, the agency was hard pressed not to review its regulations. But, like the 4 previous committees formed to determine how wildlife should be kept, this one is comprised almost exclusively of "stakeholders" (to use the state's term), which essentially puts the fox in charge of the henhouse. We basically have Steve Sipek (owner of Bobo the two time escapee tiger) calling the shots.

The continuation of the FWCC to stack the committee with members having financial or personal interests in reducing restrictions could be the reason for many of the problems Florida faces today.

In the last three years in Florida , there have been 46 incidents in which dangerous captive exotic animals have escaped from their cages and/or attacked a human being. Nearly half of these incidents resulted in serious human injuries.
Florida is now home to more tiger breeders than anywhere else in the country. There was a reported 50% increase in the number of captive tigers in this state in the last year alone.
Florida 's diverse habitat and subtropical climate has made it the "perfect" dumping ground for exotic pet owners whose animals have become too difficult to manage. As a result, Florida now teems with invasive, non-native species such as African monitor lizards, Burmese pythons, green iguanas and even vervet monkeys, some of which are causing ecological disasters.
Considering that only .0005 of Floridians own exotic animals, it seems inexplicable that all but two of the FWCC's current 11 member Captive Wildlife Technical Assistance Group either own wild animals as pets or make their living from the use of captive wild animals. And as a result, the other grossly misrepresented 99.9995 of Floridians who don't own exotic animals are forced to pay the price of inadequate wildlife laws designed to benefit the owners of exotic animals rather than ensure public health and safety.

"With its members having a vested interest in reducing restrictions on captive wildlife owners, the current committee offers little, if any, hope for improvement," says Holly Bowman, ARFF Captive Exotic Animal Specialist. "Instead, it may even exacerbate Florida 's disastrous state. To truly ensure the community's safety and the animals' welfare, a complete ban on private possession of exotic animals must be adopted."

The Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) is the state's largest animal rights organization. With over 4,000 members state-wide, the goal of ARFF is to end animal cruelty, suffering and exploitation.

The email above shows what I was talking about earlier in my "speculation".
The fact that there are so many invasive species, not native to Fla., has helped cause them to take extreme measures. That's what I read. (But I'm no english major, that's for sure.)

(clearly someone who has never had a descent pet.)

OK so they have decided to crack down, and step up there targeting to other than native Floridians to try to get a grip on their problem. So what do you do?

You can hire attorneys, which was discussed, and that is a good idea in it's own right. But it will not be enough.

They want breeding records, did it say what format? Computor age, bring a laptop. A lot of records can be fit on 1 CD, and most breeders keep records anyway. We may have to comply with their law, but we do not have to make it easy on them......... "got breeding records?" , "sure do!" and hand them a CD. The laptop is only for if they press it and say they need to "see" them.

How about some of the native Floridians trying to make friends, (bad word) or get on good terms with these FWCC people, and their CWTAG. If nothing else, it may possibly result in an advanced warning via phone call before anything actually happens. (far fetched I know, but posible nontheless)

Or as suggested, buy the permit required. (Probably should have been first on the list.) And about Morti's unfortunate incodent. I feel bad for his embarassment, but I commend him stepping up to the plate when it looked like there was trouble over what are literally "his" snakes. He could have tucked his tail between his legs and just let the other party get in trouble. He didn't, and that speaks highly of him in my eyes.

There are alot of us on this one site alone to brainstorm this and try to come up with a solution to the demise. And a whole year to prepare for the next show.
I for one refuse to believe that all our minds cant come up with something in the next year to even the battle grounds a lil bit.

Anyway, just another nickle.

Ciao,
Rick

Gimme a break...lol
you know as well as i do thats a B.S. law(Turtles)

Yeah, I know it is a BS law but it is still the law.... If you greak it, you should be punished for it in the laws eyes....

What if everyone started breaking BS laws??? Things would get out of hand pretty fast.....

I am in no way advocating anybody to break the law
I am just saying that people should not accept "B.S. Laws" and work to change them for the better
IMHO if we as an American people just sit back and accept things as they are then "Things would get out of hand pretty fast"
As it seems to be the case more and more frequently
Dont wait untill the third round to start fighting back
I understand thats a picture of my perfect world and it doesent always work that way but if more people work for change then it would be closer
this is kind of like the seatbelt law pushed through by the insurance co.'s
they said the insurance prices would drop if we voted for it but guess what?
they instead went up LOL... if you live in Fla your licence gets suspended if your insurance lapses!(That is outrageous) But the point is these laws/regulations have loopholes that the average joe cant fight by himself and the vendors hiring a lawyer to protect them would be a good start in protecting themselves,That and actually voting...lol

Warning Jerry Springer ending...lol

The fact is we as Americans are losing our liberties more and more frequently as time goes on,Who do we blame for these injustices the Man,Our nextdoor neighbors,The people whos job it is to enforce these laws?
Its most likely we should start at home and maybe just maybe take some of the blame ourselves, and take a more active part in our destiny
Go out and vote,Write your congress,Donate time or money to a worthy cause or just help a little old lady cross the street
Then and only then can we have a more perfect union and world
Untill next time this is Dennis Dynes etc...

Yeah, I know it is a BS law but it is still the law.... If you greak it, you should be punished for it in the laws eyes....

Well…that’s one of the perks of living in a democracy. Democracy demos means people, and cratos means government. A country governed by its people. Believe it or not it is not some evil aliens who are writing those laws. It’s people like us. It’s people we chose to represent us. Even if we didn’t we have to live by what the majority chose. And you better believe it, is still better than the alternative.

Regards

I still dont understand how dead people vote
By absentee ballot, unless they live in Cook County...then they vote early and often, and in person.

the same people who beleive that those laws are not being abused for the sake of money
are probably the same people who beleive in things like MWD's...

were the ones putting turtles under 4" in their mouths as a child
The rest of should not pay for the gullablility

Dennis,

If by MWD's you mean "Millions of Wasted Dollars" then I guess I fall right into the "gullable" category as Fiscal Spending is out of Control (though I'm sure I'm in the minority here who still support our President and his Administration and would do the same no matter who was in Office regardless of political affiliation).

As a side note, the 4" rule has to go. I say we propose that the parent of any child who has a pet turtle under 4" and whose child contracts Salmonella from the Cheolian be charged with "Animal Cruelty" and "Child Endangerment" for allowing their child to munch on their pet. :p

Rediculous laws are are what America is all about. In Los Angeles you cannot shoot at a whale out the window from inside your car. Someone must have done this! Otherwise the law never would have existed. Heck, Pocatello, Idaho you can not be out in public with a grudge on your face. Huh!?! Nice 1st amendment coverage right there. In California there is no bag limit for the amount of indeginous rattlesnakes you own, but you are only allowed to have 4 indeginous kingsnakes. They figure someone takes in a rattlesnake and it lowers the rattlesnake population, very bright work here.

I see dead people vote after the polls are closed. Oh yeah, you can also win an election with only a 1/3 majority and not %51 as the city charter says.

I was told a law passed that every reptile sold here in California needs to have accompanied with the reptile a care sheet. I only know of one store that does this and I do not like them, PetCo. At least they care enough to give you reading material so you will be busy while your child cries at the reptile's funeral because the kid had to eat half the turtle. The sheets are only one piece of paper, so you can fold it up and take it with you to the hospital for you child's salmonella check up.

I agree! As ridiculous as suing McDonald's because you are overweight because of lack of self control.

I have had pets my whole life (we had a pet ground hog that slept under my crib)and i have kids
I can honestly say i have never seen or heard of a kid putting a turtle in its mouth,Well unless it was cooked and shelled first

I'm sure your inability to resist good food is solely your wife's fault for being one hell of a cook. Your wife is a temptress and has an obligation to be more sensitive to your needs because, as she should know, you just can't help yourself. After all, you do have Dietary Discrepancy Disorder, do you not? :D
