    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I noticed this post on another site's Rosy Boa forum:

"have adult rosy boa, male, very nice and tame. any 1 lookin for 1? email [email protected]"

Out of curiosity, I responded (via e-mail) to this person. to see what he had, and if it was an adoption, or just a lame attempt to circumvent the classified fee required to post in that site's classified section. Anyway, I asked if he had pics. The e-mail that I received in response from this person was registered to Frank A. Cuzzolina, and the IP address (66.218.238.225)places him in Mesa, Arizona. Here is the response:

"Yes I will give you a pick as soon as possible. Would you like totrade for it or buy? Lookin for albino burm, or bearded dragons. thanks"

I responded with this: "I may be interested in trade, or maybe purchase. I guess I will have to see it first. can you give me any details on it? James"

Here is what I got back from him: "I am currently in a trade getting him. Trade will be compelted in a couple of days that’s wen ill have pics/info, ahvent even seen him yet but he coems from a very respectable dealer so I know he will be perfect. so ill elt you kno in a couple days and have pics for you ok?"

Now after taking all of the spelling errors, it looks like this person is either a kid or a semi-literate adult. Either way, from what I am seeing here, I would advise using extreme caution when dealing with this individual due to the fact this person was lying when they said they had a Rosy Boa and that they were willing to make claims about it without ever seeing it.

Hey Frank, how do you know that it is "very nice and tame" if you have never even seen it? Brokering an animal that you have never even seen and then making claims about it is considered bad business, and is unethical. In addition the post that you made was indeed an obvious attempt to get around the fee that is required to post in the classified section on that site, and that is a violation of their TOS.

I will send Frank a link to this thread.

I am the guy who was to send him the Rosy boa, the Rosy part fell through but I did a trade with him for an albino burm het for granite. Sadly nobody was there to recieve the package and now he is claiming DOA, I spoke with UPS and they said the there was no answer at the door so the package was left on the doorstep in the Arizona heat..... but for how long? He neglected to tell me during his DOA claim that no one was there to recieve the snake. I do not feel this is my error, what do you think?

If the buyer knew the package was coming and was not home to receive it then it is on him not you.
 
Thanks for the support guys, I had actually thought about returning his items, until it dawned on me to call UPS. It is still a shame that snake had to die a miserable death because of the carelessness of someone.
 
That is sad about the poor snake. I know in my area, UPS just leaves the package on my front porch, sometimes they ring the doorbell, sometimes they don't even do that. So when the package is tracked online, it always will say "Package delivered to front porch.".

Just wondering if that is what happened in this case, or if the guy really wasn't home to receive the snake. If he was not, he is completely in the wrong!
 
Just like Jim said, If the buyer was made aware that the package was coming that day, then it is on HIM and NOT you. I guess that Neil the psychic already knew the answer. But I will ask anyway... Did he know it was coming that day, and if so, how was he notified?

You should also realize that if the shipping was discussed over e-mail, there are extra steps that need to be covered. Say he asks when you can ship, and you respond with Monday for a Tuesday delivery. You still need to make sure that he confirms that that specific day is going to work out for him. This may sound like overkill, but I have seen more than one e-mail conversation end up causing this sort of thing to happen. If you have any e-mails that can back you up, it would be nice if you could post them.

I am also in AZ also, and I live just about 5 minutes from Mesa (his city). Do you have an address on this goofball?

With UPS, when the driver hands me the package (which is all the time) it still shows up "Package delivered to front porch". There is a possibility he was there to receive the package. Were any pictures provided of the DOA?
 
I was supposed to ship Monday, but go to tied up with clients who are buying a house, So I notified him that she would go out for sure on Tuesday. I then sent him an email containing a tracking # and informed him that they would not guarantee a 10:30 delivery, this was Tuesday eve. at 4:54 p.m. Pac. time... same as him. Then I spoke with UPS on the phone ( live person ) they told me that because the package was labeled "perishable, keep cool" the driver knocked on the door with no response then left the package on the step. Sadly yes, there was photo confirmation of the DOA, I believe it to be Dead On Franks Arrival not delivery.

By the way James... that Rosy you refer to is mine, but I told him that it would not pencil out for me so I would pass, he said just send the Burm anyway we are still good.

Either way its the receivers problem. I check my porch like a hundred times when I am expecting crickets, let alone an animal.
 
If I'm expecting ANYTHING alive to be delivered, I make CERTAIN that I'm home and waiting the whole day it is scheduled to arrive until it gets there. I guess I can't say for sure if all of my delivery guys knock, because 99% of the time, I meet them at the truck, before they even have a chance to knock. If I even go to the bathroom, I check the porch when I get out just in case I missed them (which is highly unlikely, my dogs bark their fool heads off whenever the truck pulls in the yard).

I guess my whole point is, that if he was aware that it was coming that day, other than a major emergency there is no excuse whatsoever for him to put the animal's life at risk by not being there, especially in the Arizona heat. It says a LOT to me about the type of person he is, and how much (or how little) he cares about his animals, IMO.

What does he have to say about not being there to receive the package?

I live here in AZ and the heat KILLS. Just got over a bout of two days with no AC and I lost one of my hatchlings due to the heat.

I never order animals from from around mid April through the beginning of October, because they can't guarantee early delivery... if they come UPS they're going to die.

I have animals that I've ordered and happened to ship during a "heat wave" in mid-october, and they were hot on arrival, (just having anticipated this I was ready to give them some immediate cool-down measures).

Even when I get an animal during these time periods when the temps are lower, I am anxious and checking the door every ten minutes. There's no way any animal I'm getting will sit on my doorstep for any length of time. I know that the UPS guy may or may not knock.

You can't LIVE in AZ and not be prepared for extroardinary attentiveness when receiving an animal being shipped to you! AT least, you can't do that and have any live animals arrive.
 
How could you NOT be there when you are expecting a package?

At least get someone to come over if you need to be out.

There is no excuse for not being there to accept delivery.

You owe this guy nothing.

Dang, I always meet the truck as it pulls in. I guess I could save myself a few steps if I wasn't such a snake geek. I guess I'll never know...
 
O.K. I have to thank everyone for their support. But after doing some research I have found some evidence in Franks favor, so here goes...

The package was delivered at 3:45 as per the UPS site and Customer Service, he did send me an email marked at 3:55, just 10 minutes later telling me about the DOA (it just occured to me to check that thanks to Kelli H. So I seem to be in the wrong and I want to let everyone know that I will be sending his end of the trade back to him on Monday at my expense. As well as a big fat apology.

I am sorry I did not look at this earlier and am honestly a bit embarrassed about the whole thing. I will take the nesaccary precautions to avoid this in the future, but after all the snake lost more than anyone and for that I am super bummed.

P.S. I enjoyed hearing that I am not the only person whos runs to the driveway when I hear that tell tale diesel motor of a UPS or FedEx truck approaching, like a kid on Christmas morning.

Good deal Jeff. The question is why did UPS deliver so late in the day. Did you set it up for morning delivery?
