In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi,

I just purchased a dozen units that measure 48w x 24d x 18 H. They are prewired with two separate lighting fixtures. The previous owned used them for Beardies. I'm using them for Cribos, Indigos, Carpets, Bloods & different Boa's. Each unit is wired separately allowing me to use separate thermostats.

Thoughts on a few things.

There is both a fixture for a fluorescent bulb and a separate fixture for either a ceramic heat emitter or any various kind of bulb. Is it safe to use these kinds of bulbs or heat sources without some kind of protective cover to prevent the animal from both burning itself or simply breaking the bulb? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mike

I would highly recommend not using those sources of heat and going with something like an RHP (radiant heat panel) if you can. Snakes will climb and yes they will climb on a hot bulb.

Back in the day when I had an exposed incandescent light in a wood cage for a boa, I bought a wire cage harness that went over the bulb (screwed into the top of the cage and fully surrounded the bulb) so she could not come into direct contact with it. Deff do something like that if you decide to use them for heat.

best of luck! They look like nice cages.

Thanks for replying - I ordered VE 80 watt radiant heat panels that I will use instead of the ceramic heat emitter. It should be easy enough to swap out as its wired.
