It's good to know you have friends of different color, would they, by chance, be white, caucasion, or anglo only?

Given your track record on followthrough I am somewhat skeptical of your statement that you would check back to verify continued interest with a person that told you several days, or even a couple of weeks ago, who had not been in contact with you in the intervening time, that they still wanted the animal in question. But, since you have proven yourself a LIAR I suppose my skeptism is well placed.

Lack of civility aside, Gilbert has shown himself here to be less than rational. How? Well, in a number of ways:

1. There is no place in any of those emails wherein John has implied, explicitly or implicitly, that Gilbert had a done deal with him.

2. John was absolutely upfront about the animal's health in every way.

3. Gilbert made a simply atrocious comment for no reason whatsoever about John (that is not to imply that there could be a good reason for being a racist, but rather just to say that there was NO provocation).

4. Gilbert, rather than simply coming on here and saying, "Yeah, I was a jerk, you caught me on a bad day, and I apologize," he starts to defend himself by saying that John backed out of a done deal, when, in fact, there was no deal to be broken!

5. Gilbert then gets all upset over the past being raised in this thread, but the sad reality is that past bad behavior IS relevant, even in a court of law, when that behavior establishes a pattern of action and reaction.

The final analysis is that Gilbert is completely wrong on this. John did nothing wrong, and given the circumstances of what Gilbert has written to him, handled himself rather calmly.

To me, the most ironic thing about the whole deal is Gilbert complaining about someone backing out of a done deal! Talk about the pot calling the kettle . . .

Well, maybe that old saying isn't appropriate in this context.

Thanks for at least being civil Daren. You know since the past is so important to some on this board. I feel the ones screaming about need to let the public in on their past and short comings in life. After all, some issues could very well reflect on how they are today, right? That is at least what some are saying!!

Do what you have to do, Gilbert. But remember, I said the past is relevant, "when that behavior establishes a pattern of action and reaction."

Simply dredging up something someone has in their past (like a criminal record, for example), when it says nothing about the current behavior of an individual and establishes no pattern of behavior, will accomplish nothing. Instead, it would serve to show the "dredger" as being a spiteful and petty, little person to be avoided at all costs.

You screw up a deal on a snake you wanted for whatever reason, it's not important as you did the screwing up, no one else did.

Actually, I was the one who suggested that bringing up criminal records was not the way to go with this, Gilbert. That being said, I did not say this because I believe a felon can change but you cannot. What I said was that bringing an unrelated criminal record to this forum was of no use but to make you look small and petty.

If you bring records showing that someone is a conman, or an animal abuser, or a fraudulent importer, that would have all kinds of relevance to a BOI type thread. But if this blast from the past is about someone who got busted for growing pot in his dorm room, or got his fifth DWI before he graduated high school, I fail to see the relevance here, and posting such private information is simple hatefulness.

I don't hate you, Gilbert. Hatred requires a degree of personal concern, and I don't know you at all well enough to develop that type of concern one way or the other. However, YOUR previous actions are entirely relevant here, because this example of bad behavior in a supposed deal is just one link in an entire chain of bad actions on your part. This isn't a series coincidences, Gilbert; it is a personality flaw on your part.

Now, if someone wanted to make a post here about you stealing money from girlscouts when you were eight (or some other such irrelevant scenario), I would be just as quick to defend against their actions as I am now against yours.

Maybe you should go read the definitions of Racism and Prejudice. They are 2 different things. Everyone has some sort of Prejudice as that is human nature but only the dredges of society are racist. By him saying you are a lowlife is not any form of racism, maybe it is prejudice by him classing you with other lowlife's and not liking them but it has nothing to do with your race but rather your ignorance. Also you sit there and bring "God" into this entire thread trying to make something out of someone else that might not believe in "god" but yet your actions show that you must not believe in him either, or must just use his name as a tool for trying to make yourself look better. I am not a sacreligous person and would never give up my salvation for a few dollars or my reputation.  To be quite honest that stuff really means nothing to me now.  All I think about is how to do better and live a life for the Lord Jesus Christ.

I hate to break it to you but calling someone racist names, making threats, and acting like this is not living a life for Jesus Christ. I can't tell you how many times I have seen people "convert" in order to steer blame or try and make themselves look better at that time. In case you forget I use to work undercover narcotics and I saw alot of the dredges of society try and do just that to get an easier sentence or try and get out of trouble and make themselves look better to the judge. Well it is just a ploy and nothing more.

Let me clarify how I'd handle the initial incident regarding the het boa constrictor sale..

John never stated the animal was being held for you in any of his e-mails ! In my opinion, John handled the sale the same way most of the reptile breeding community would, in that the boa was for sale to the first person to secure the funds for it !

If I were to count the number of times in the last 10 years someone stated they wanted an animal/fossil of mine, yet never sent funds, well I probably couldn't

I will not hold an animal for longer than one week unless a deposit has been placed on it, or it is someone I've done significant amounts of business with previously.

The comments made to John had nothing to do with temper, but exposed an inner hatred. I can't help but to think of the film with James Spader, Danny Aiello and Eric Stoltz called "Two Days in the Valley". There's a police officer in the film who blames every issue he has on a particular ethnicity of person, and implodes himself in the process ! If you haven't seen it yet Gilbert, rent it !

Gilbert, you need to sincerely apologize (meaning call John and explain where the comment came from) as this sort of exposure is something you can't rid yourself of without a whole lot of effort. All I've seen so far in this thread by you is pointing the finger at others to make them look guilty of the same views you exposed to John.
