I just have one last thing to say about this (then it's back to football and lizard chores, lol)...

It is HIS money.  We all have the right to back out on a deal for whatever reason.  Especially when it is a big deal--everything better feel right if you are about to drop several grand.  You cannot hold it against someone for backing out. No one should feel obligated to spend thousands of dollars if they are not 100% sure. Or even a penny for that matter!

It may suck to have to bend over backwards for customers only to have the sale not go through, but hey, that is business.  
I do not know that this is the correct forum for this.  No one was burned or scammed for their money.  Yes, yes, time is money.  But that is a choice whether or not to give someone that time, and we all do this for potential customers if we are going to stay in business.  I've taken 100s of photos for customers that never wound up buying.  If we are not prepared to do this, we should not be in sales.  I expect it.  I expect "interested" parties, window shoppers, price comparisons, and last minute back outs.  It happens in every line of work.
And off topic, but related, how many times do we have friends/family that tell us they are planning on stopping by and never do? LOL, I've been waiting for two weeks on my cousin!

It is never a sure thing until the deal is done!  It can be frustrating, but that's sales for you!

Well just got off the phone with Gilbert, we both were able to bury the hatchett, We feel both of us were wrong and that is that.Basically the whole thing was just a big communication failure that we both are responsible for.So I guess this thread is now closed.

Woops got me wrong on this one... I refering to all those  ordinary people who seem to know it all about ecology and state what is good for me to collect and what isn't and in what numbers, hence the phrase "weekend warrior game biologist" may not of been the best way to put it but can't take it back now.I take offense to these people because most of them really don't know what there talking about.

WOW, I’ve been following this thread for a couple days now and debating on posting anything. After reading Bills post, I had too.
My experience was almost exactly the same. Several weeks ago Gilbert emailed me about a group of adult albino nelsons. Said the exact same thing as he did to Bill.
I have cash! He told me he was mailing me the money. About a week past and I emailed him to ask if he sent it like he said he would. NO REPLY!
So I labeled him as a “ WINDOW “ shopper. Several weeks past and Gilbert replied to an ad I posted and pretty much said the same thing…” Please don’t sell that chondro I want it. I have cash.” I replied to his email and answered his questions. I also reminded him that he left me hanging on the nelson package. He did apologize and assured me he wasn’t wasting my time. We exchanged a couple emails and played phone tag twice. In the end I sent him 2 emails and left him two messages on his phone, with no return. More time completely waisted!
I agree with what Gilbert said… If your not comfortable with a deal, you shouldn’t go through with it. I find it very hard to believe that Gilbert wasn’t comfortable with Myself, Gary Schieveno, Vic (exclusive ) Justin, John, Corey and Bill. Come on Gilbert. Everyone mentioned did something that didn’t make you feel comfortable?
As Bill said. I’m not posting this to hurt anyone. It would just be nice for the purchaser to see how frustrating it is. When you say you want to buy something… FOLLOW through with it ! Stop waisting everyone’s time.

Well, this is just Gilberts pattern. He not only backed out on 1, 2 but 3 deals with me as well. I was able to recoup the first 2 and marked it off as no harm, no foul. Gilbert seemed nice enough to give it one last shot. Well, this one costs me. I had another cash offer on the snake being dealt to Gilbert (a Het. Clown female). I gave my word to Gilbert on our trade deal and turned it down. Well, when Gilbert pulls the rug out from me AGAIN, I was hoping to recoup that offer as well. Well, my luck ran out on this one. The customer already spent it with someone else. The cash could of really helped out at the time, so this last round with Gilbert did leave a sour taste in my mouth. Im sure youll have some people post good things about Gilbert and he is a nice guy, but he probably only honors 1 out of every 10 deals he AGREES too. Sorry, not to go into much detail, but with all 3 bogus offers, its simply too much to type and Im pi$$ed that I deleted the emails, but read Bill's. There not that much different. If you like full details, contact me and I let you know about each one. Lesson: If Gilbert makes a offer, great. If you have a second offer, take that one. It will more than likely save you time, money and the headache.

I've never bought anything from Bill Cagle, but I have purchased animals from Joe D. and I can tell you that you have pretty poor instincts for a policeman if you think Joe is a "snake peddler."

I don't understand why you would stiff the guy three times if he was "too much a snake peddler" for you the first time......

I'm sorry for posting anything more than an opinion in this thread, but Joe Dembinski has treated me well and I certainly think he has conducted himself professionally (again) in this instance. If you had phoned me at 5 am I would have already been gone to work, but most considerate people do not make phone calls to private residences at that time of day.

I can understand that a rancher must get up early in order to take care of stock, but that doesn't excuse you from exercising appropriate social skills when dealing with others.

Anyway..... this goes well beyond any "right" I have in commenting on this thread. I think it is too bad that each time someone new (I don't know about anyone else, but I see a trend here) makes an accusation, you just blow it off like so much fluff on your shoulder. I wonder how Jason feels now that he knows how you REALLY feel about him.... LOL

As to the rest of the contributors to this thread, my apologies for questioning the validity of the message..... there does indeed appear to be a pattern to this behavior, and I responded too soon.....

I was just wondering if anyone has actually met Gilbert Thompson? He strongly resembles a youngster trying to get a rise out of everyone! Everytime he posts he steps all over his previous statements.He claims that he doesn't want any of Bill's animals yet when he blew off the deal he tried to get Bill to reserve him a future snake he was getting.If he has a reason not to buy from each and every seller then why does he string along each and everyone of them? It appears that Mr.Thompson is a drowning man and he is trying to bring down reputable names with him.It took a lot of courage for all of these top named breeders to come forth with this matter,because they knew they would be slammed by Mr.Thompson out of pure revenge.Anyway,I am really glad you didn't buy that amarali;I can't wait to recieve him!!   Randy Bush

It sounds as though G. is the buyer equivalent of Jesse Underhill.  None of his WEAK reasons even made any sense.   If you look at Joe D.'s reputation alone I would send him money, possibly without a pic, just his word that it is a quality animal.   What is a snake peddler?   Someone who sells snakes?  OK, where else are you supposed to buy snakes but from a snake peddler?   Nothing is sold until the money is in the bank! It sounds like G. needs to be blacklisted as a buyer.   Is he the first DEADBEAT buyer?

Revenge I think not!!  They brought it upon themselves by posting here.  I know I have not lied about one single think.
After those have posted you might have jumped a gun?  Well maybe in your mind.  I have not changed or wavered from nothing.
To be quit honest I can give two $hit$ less what anyone thinks.  I am in the position I don't have too.
Some of you are merely sucking up.  Thinking in your mind!  WOW!  This is my chance to suck some a$$ and get a cushioned deal on the next purchase I make.

I may have a trend going on that is true.  However, I see one too.  It is suck a$$ing, feelings of being inferior and clandestine.
I can damn well assure you there are others I have let down as well.  Feel free to open yourself up to the real reason.  I can also assure you this one thing.  I will never let another person down without giving them an explantion why.  From this moment on I promise that.  It will be the real reason.
I can care less if it would hurt anyones feelings anymore.
It is also this simple if you are so concerned about people leading you on or changing their minds why are you in business?

 I am glad to see your time is so precious and safeguarded to not deal someone.  However, you have time to post and get into debates on here.
That makes alot of sense.  I also agree with others this forum has gone to $hit.  It will eventually kill itself.
Should you not be concerned with the thefts and crooks in this industry.  Instead of someone that has been burned and caused to feel and act in an undeciseive manner?  However, again I will sure be to the point from now on.
Bottom line, I can afford to be the way I am.  I don't hide it, I don't lie about it and I don't run from it.  So I am not drowning!!
However, that reply and others is very understandable.  It very common for people to hate something they are not, don't have and cannot understand.

Your rambling incoherrant BS grows tired.   What is IVD?    Your problem, and it is a problem, is not that you are indecisive, but that you tell people YES I want it, please hold it for me, please do not sell it to someone else, and THEN you cut off contact with them for a week or two, and then email that "something has come up" and you cannot buy the animal that was HELD for you.   That is the difference between you and most of us.   I will never have anyone hold an animal and then not pay for it.   I have backed out of a few deals, very few, but nothing was ON HOLD, CONSIDERED SOLD etc.    You sound like your eyes are bigger than your wallet, no big deal until you start costing others money.   Window shop, but do not say you will buy something and then give some lame excuse.   EVERYONE has said the same thing about you, one or two people ok, maybe we give you the benefit of the doubt, but EVERYONE!!!   Come on, stick to buying anoles or something from Petco.   What you do is similar to some lame A$$ in the fast lane going 55 MPH's when you want to go 80, it is just Freaking annoying!

The comment referring to the female anatomy was pretty tasteless.  However, I will be your huckleberry!  I have no problem with handleing a physical confrontation if it comes my way.  It is one of my finer qualities.  However, I don't like things resorting to that.  I prefer using my brain but it is fun though.
Some of you will get your chance to hone you skills I am sure.  I will be attending some shows here before long.  I will make it a point to announce the ones I will be attending.
However, just remember you brought it on yourself when you put yourself in that siuation.
I will be saving these comments.  Therefore, when you step to me.  You cannot run and cry assault.  I am allowed to defend myself.  So if anyone feels the need to test their abilities.  Goahead and afterwards just remember that you caused this on yourself.

I wish everyone luck on selling there animals:)  I understand it is the way you put it on the table.  In the real business world you would be eatten alive.  I see why alot don't have jobs now.

         Wow.......am i mistaken or did i see a challnge/threat to a physical confrontation in what this LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER said. From what i've read it's just people commenting on the their own experiences with Mr Thompson and at no time did i read where anyone made any kind of a challnging or threating statement in regards to Mr Thompson. So why does Mr. Thompson feel a need to make those kinda a statements? And remember this person can shoot anyone he wants and the burden of proof will not be on him. Ciao.
