    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm not lying about this... but you people can take it as it is. Why would I stay away from this place then all of a sudden put up a BOI thread?
I've tried to make peace with the people here but you guys are too stubborn, I don't want any more trouble on here and I'm sorry for lying about the snake being dead. Which it now is and I had nothing to do with.
I am getting a necropsy done as soon as the vet is available to see what the cause was and see if it was parasites or someting else.

Fogive me for doubting this but you couldn't get a sick snake to the vet or afford treatment so how in the world are you going to be able to get a necropsy done?
 
why it died is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT!!!!!!

you picked a snake out. when you did this, you gave them the OK on their product. what happened afterward has to be attributed to what you did OR we have to assume that you have no idea what a sick snake looks or acts like, since you are saying you purchased the snake as a sickling. but then, that creates a huge problem, because if you didn't know what a sick snake was then, how would you know now? you could have stressed it out. you could have poisoned it. you could have dropped it. you could have FROZEN IT............

also, if it's dead now, where is it? freezer? in a bag? necropsies are only useful under certain conditions.

I learned my lesson, and I now have saved up enough money before I get a snake and for the care of it. I'm pretty sure I have enough for the necropsy, I really want to know what happened.

Richard, when I picked the snake out he was fine, or at least looked it. Only after I brought him did I notice the mites, and the bad shed.
I'm not the kind of person that would hurt an animal for amusement, especially my pet snake that I really liked. And yes, he's in the freezer now. I don't want to throw away his body, and like said before I'm planning a necropsy.

Let me get this straight.
You didn’t take the snake to the VET when he was alive but you will actually take him now that he is dead?

You would have killed the snake if it had in RI but now that it died a couple months later, you are trying to find someone else to blame.
 
No, I am not trying to find someone to blame. They sold me a sick snake, so I think the public should know and future buyers. Maybe it was that I just picked up a sick snake, I don't know.

The snake died (this time) a week ago. There's little chance the necropsy will show anything of use by now, IMO.

And has already been said, Paulina...you picked out the snake yourself, in person, at the show. Perhaps you may not have seen the mites at that time, but if it was indeed skinny and everything else you say it was, you should not have purchased it to begin with. This is a totally different case than if you had purchased it unseen, or only in pictures, then had it shipped to you, and at that time found out that there were things wrong with it.

If it was OK enough to spend the money when you bought it, and it didn't die until a couple of months later, I really don't see where Glades owes you anything. If you had taken it to the vet immediately, treated it for all of the things you say was wrong with it, and it died anyway.......MAYBE I could see a partial refund.....but in this case.....sorry, no way. It could have been something that $10 worth of antibiotics or $5 worth of parasite treatment could have easily fixed....or it could have been poor husbandry. At this point, we will never know.
 
Thanks Cathy, for being at least understanding and nice. I will call my vet tomorrow to get more info on it...
And I assure you it was not poor husbandry, I know how to take care of my snakes.
 
A snake with mites isn't a sick snake paulina. Just has mites.. and.. if you would have even glanced at the snake when you bought it. You would have seen them.

Knowing you paulina, the mites came from you not caring properly for it.
 
Brandi, you DON'T know me. I take care of my snakes just fine and none of them are sick.

If I was a betting man, I would be that snake was dead in that picture above. It looks staged, Blues do not just sit in one place like that in a ball, they are very active ratsnakes.
 
The snake was alive, and not staged. I have many recent pictures of him...
Just because he stayed still for 1 second doesn't mean he's dead.

Paulina, don't come on this board saying you know about snakes and their husbandry, because it's evident that you know NOTHING!
How about collecting stamps or coins? You might try that. Just a heads up dear!

You are a young and inexperienced and that is not an insult. Keep living and you'll get older...keep learning and trying new things and you'll gain experience. There is nothing wrong with ignorance...is is simply a lack of knowledge of something.

The best thing you could have done in this situation was to ask humbly for all the advice possible, or even ask those on this forum their opinion as to whether Glades was to blame or not. The key here is humility. It is not outside the realm of possibility that you've had some shortcomings with your husbandry, but you refusal to even consider that as an option jeopardizes the well being of any future animals you may aquire.

Good luck. Ask lots of questions. I've taught a few things to some guys who've been in this hobby twice as long as I. They've never been embarrassed to admit not knowing something. There's also been plenty of times where I was the one asking advice. That's how we learn. :thumbsup:

When I'm confused or I don't know something I ask, just not on here. If it was my husbandry then I liked to know what did I do wrong? I'm not ruling anything out, there might have been a glitch in my husbandry but what was it? I did everything I could for the snake to be comfortable and that everything was right.

Not that anything more really needs to be posted to discredit this young lady.. But, I have been to just about every Hamburg, PA show in the past few years and i can say for sure that Glades NEVER sets up their table anywhere near the food station. They ALWAYS set up to the left of the front door, which is clear across the room from the food station??

This girl kills a snake after 3 months then tries to get a refund? Then throws Glades under the bus here on the BOI and she is not even sure she got the snake from them in the first place??? That's just silly!

This type of customer is an animal vendors worst nightmare for sure! :ack2:
