Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

talked to the person who got bit "no, it seems it WAS a BITE after all!

Hey Wiloman, when the hell did you talk to me? You had better be able to prove this one buster.

Just a point of information for you know it all jerks, I have a one inch gash on my wrist next to my artery. Yes he did aim for the
warm part of my body.

Oh and to the person who said they got a copy of my medical records, I have contacted the hospital and they are doing an internal investigation right now. I hope that you are lying or they are going to get you for sure.

Lynne--e-mail me at [email protected] if you want the facts. Don't listen to these jerks.

Hey Glen, Jason and Rachel--how do you like my posts?

Seamus, I know exactly where you got that post from. I am on AOL and posted it there. So you think that because I went to the hospital it was that bad. Anybody with any sense knows that when you get bitten by an animal you need to go to the hospital and get it cleaned properly. So get over yourself. I noticed you had nothing on the AOL board. And where on there did I sign my name as Kim?
As I have already stated here, this is between Glen and myself. Not anyone elses.
And as a note here, I called Glen on Monday after he called me and made him promise not to put the snake to sleep.
You people ought to know by now that a snakes only line of defense is his ability to strike and roll his prey.

I haven't lied about anything. I've told everything to the best of my knowledge and that's all I can do. If some facts got mixed up or twisted around, that wasn't done intentionally.

This snake bit her on the wrist and it wasn't a nip, he hit perfectly and held on for a couple of seconds. Where did you hear about the bite from again? Whatever you read must be a little exaggerated. She required no stitches. The smell could have made the snake more aggressive since it hadn't eaten in a while.

Well, it SURE seems that tool is saying YOU GOT BIT, which, I believe is the past tense for BITE. Oh wait, he said BITE too.

I guess I could have gotten the informationv from your pal tool.

By the way, the quote you have attributed to me was NOT made by me. I understand your confusion as I did make a hash on that post, but still, careful reading will prevent such blunders by you in the future.

YOU recieved a BITE. YOU said that YOU needed to go to the hospital as do ALL people who are bitten, past tense of bite, by snakes. Damn, wish I would have known that yesterday, a four foot kingsanke bit, past tense for BITE, my thumb and all I did was wash the BITE site.

Of course that WAS NOT a ONE INCH GASH NEAR AN ARTERY, the warmest part of the wrist.

Do you guys ever re-read your posts?

It was the CLOSEST part of her to the snake when the snake SMELLED food.

Are we all cleared up now?

Wiloman--I may not be very smart but, I can lift heavy things.

This is so true about you. If you did not go to the hospital for a kingsnake bite on your thumb, then that is your problem. My bite was a bad one in the fact that it was on my wrist that I use EVERYDAY to type.
I wish that you would stop correcting my grammer. This stupid site keeps moving the cursor and makes it hard for me. So I guess you are an English teacher also?

Okay, you two need to back off eachothers throats. This is about the ethics of Glen, correct? Not about Wilomn and Lynn having a tift. I don't even know why the bite was brought up. The snake smelled food, or saw the heat, or was startled by her, and nailed her, doesn't matter why, she just got bit. Doesn't matter how bad the bite was, and doesn't matter if she needed stitches or not. Hopefully she'll learn from this experience, and be a little more aware of the capabilities of these animals. As Army said, I spoke to him, and tried to explain to him, that Glenn and his friend, have had a little mix up in the stories apparently, because some things being said don't quite add up, I'll even admit some of this stuff is not making much sense. But it would if you were there, and it would if you knew him. It's the internet guys. Things get twisted and confused. Glenn has good ethics, and he'll do the responsible thing, I'm sure. I hope you enjoy the picture. We fed the snake at the shop on Sunday. It was amazing to watch him go after the rat, definetly somethin else.

was a bad one

"What's that little word all by its lonesome up there? Does that REALLY say BITE?"

Now on to another thing that I find QUITE intriguing. Here it is and was posted by YOU lynn on this very thread not too very long ago.

And as a note here, I called Glen on Monday after he called me and made him promise not to put the snake to sleep.
You people ought to know by now that a snakes only line of defense is his ability to strike and roll his prey.

So now, AFTER ALL this time, YOU are implying that glen WANTED TO PUT THE SNAKE TO SLEEP????? Wow, I thought he was going to make a scientific study of it, or make tons of money with a new "morph" or just flood the market with eyeless scrubs. NOW you want us to ponder the notion that he was going to KILL this snake BECAUSE it BIT, past tense of BITE, YOU????? WOW again.

Seamus, did you know that a snakes ONLY line of defense was to strike and ROLL its prey? AMAZING. So, all those times I got musked on or pooped on or hissed at or struck at with closed mouth, or had hognoses play dead, ALL of those times had NOTHING to do with DEFENSE. This of course completely leaves OUT of consideration AT ALL all the forms of camoflage, mimicry, speed, stealth, and envenomation. Boy do I feel dumb now. I thought ALL of those played a roll in defence.

lynn, THANK YOU ever so much for clearing up what has been a life long misconception of mine.

Let me know when you guys get your scientific studies going. That should be VERY interesting.

I don't know. It may just be me after a loooooong day on the not so free freeways out here and my frustration trickling over to this forum, but does this thing seems to have taken a dive back into Dumbsville again?

Just for the record wes, there was already a post about the bite before I stated anything. It wasn't my info to post but since someone took it upon themselves to go ahead and put lynne's info out there I thought I would set the story straight. And seamus, you are so good at twisting words around. I think you just like to argue. No one said GLEN wanted to put the snake to sleep. She just told him she didn't want him to if he had been comtemplating it. No one has been lying, you guys are just good at twisting words and making it seem that way. At least darin, not meant as a personal attack, has been able to come on this site, post his opinion, and leave it alone. And someone said that my behavior was childlike?

i have to say this is truelly amazing...seamus and willom....you need to get a life...hell get a woman...or a man...it seems to me after reading the last couple of pages that you have nothing of importance to say...i mean damn, you resorted to attack between the words bit and bite...is this really the best you have? whether or not she went to the hospital...she got bit by a scrub python, you god bit by a friggin king...not even a viable comparrison...jesus, i haven't posted since thursday and this is STILL going on....like i said, i haven't lied about anything...the couple of people here who have been constably rambling on about this and that...spelling, grammar, whether they believe what
1. the people who have seen the snake say
2. the woman who was bit by the snake say
3.people who have handled the snake first hand say
4.people who have seen the snake feed say
5.people who know more about the snake and the ferocity of the bit or bite, whichever verbal usage you choose to attack in your next post have said....

you say i lied, i say after everything that has been posted by those listed above, you don't believe it...that doesn't make it a lie, it just makes you an idiot. your refusal to believe what is said and backed up, your meager attempts to take someones words and twist them to fit what you want them seem to mean...anything can be made to sound like something horrible if not read within the context of the entire remark...but hell, what do i care...lynne and i are cool...she's my friend, my snake is still healthy, eating and on display as it will continue to be...he is still fascinating everyone who lays eyes on him and insighting conversation at the mere mention of him....so, talk all that you want...i'm happy.
and as far as whoever said that they had read medical reports of the actuall snake bite....I'M CALLING THEM A BOLD FACED LIAR....STRAIGHT UP.....you got those records...i have offered up proof of every statement i have made, with actions and with people to back me up, now i ask the same...you say you saw the records (whoever it was)..then prove it...tell me what hospital, what physician, what clerk and in what manner (i.e. .email, letter, fax etc..) you received said info...i've been doing medical insurance for almost 8 years now and if you have them, then is the one of the most blatent disregards for patient doctor confidentiality and a violation of damn near EVERY HIPPA rule they have one for...so then, give me the info, or everyone will know that your just lying to make a feeble point......whatever it may be...

Hey Glenn, give me a call if you need some rabbits, I am getting overrun. If you don't have my number, call Matt, he will give it to you.

I think all this is BS. Wes, you are now arguing the correct usage of the word bite and bit? That seems like a far cry. Maybe now that you have seen this animal, and realize that it is not having any problems surviving in captivity, you just have nothing else to say, so you have resorted to be an english teacher. Pretty sad.

Jason

jason, corey, glen, and I must address all of you here since you have, at least some of you, posted for eachother and so muddied who said what that I just don't know who ORIGINALLY stated which version of things, and lynn as well, let me explain a little something to you that you seem to TOTALLY miss everytime it goes by you.

One of you said that a girl got BIT, as in BITE, by the scrub at the show. Then one of you said she got SCRAPED. Then one of you said she DID NOT get BITTEN. Then lynn said she got bit, then she said that EVERYONE who gets BITTEN by a snake should go to the hospital, then one of you said that was NOT TRUE.

In these instances of was there a BITE or was there NOT a BITE and going to the hospital for EVERY BITE and NOT going to the hospital for EVERY BITE there is no middle ground. IF she got bitten she was NOT scraped. Someone, or ones LIED. If EVERY SNAKE BITE does NOT need to go to the hospital, which lynn STATED, then she lied.

These are not the first or second or third times you guys have had problems with the truth on this thread, just some of the most recent.

Do you see where someone may have a problem BELIEVING anything you say now?

All 4 or 5 or however many of you there really are should all get together and read this thread and then MAYBE, probably not, understand where some of us are coming from.

YOU have twisted your words and then had them handed back to you and you didn't like it. So THINK before you post. Read your OLD posts before you CONTRADICT them in NEW posts. Better yet, since this thread has totally devolved, STOP POSTING.

No one is forcing you to come here and change what you say from one day to the next. You seem to do it willingly and often. Change your posting style, try ONE story, and then see what happens.

And lynn, to answer your previous question, no, I am not an English Teacher, but when someone has SUCH trouble using the language as you were, then even someone like me, who MAY NOT be very smart, can feel bad and try to help.

your still clutching at straws. she was bit...it was bad enought to go to the hospital. it did not go to the muscle as someone stated. she was back at the show the next day, she even went back the same day to pick up her van. what you are looking for is to blow something into some sort of massive catstrophy that almost put poor lynne completely handicapped on her left side.all of our statements have issued the same opinion. we have just used different language. it would seem that if we were lying we WOULD be using the EXACT same wordage. but, alas...i guess i'll just have to stick with lying to you about my snake...cause regardless, you will be right...no matter what is said, what proof is given and how many can back up everything corey, lynne, jason, racheal and i have said. but, yeah, you must be right wes. personally i think that you have some kind of vested interest in keeping this website going, hence you continue to antagonize any debate you can. so, knock yourself out. gotta get back to work.

jason, i'll be in touch with you this afternoon about the rabbits, i'll take several off your hands.

I tell what Wes, when I need some English lessons, I will go to someone with some sort of understanding of people. I only came to this board because I was informed that someone said that they had my medical records. It sure is nice to come here and see so many people concerned about my health. Why didn't any of you try to contact me? Well Glen did contact me so I know that he cares. I cannot stand to see people to attack other people just because they don't agree with something that they say or do. I also know Matt really well and I know that if he did not think that Glen could not handle that snake he would never have let him have it. I cannot believe how stupid people can be.

Glenn--I am behind you 100%
let me know when you are ready for us to take a picture of us with the snake.

I had to vote just to see the results even though my true response wasn't listed. I voted for the 3rd option because even though I would not like to see this snake used for breeding I see no reason for it to be destroyed. Still I was not completely satisfied with this choice. I see no reason why, if the snake is going to be kept for a pet, that it has to be given away. I can assure you that not every breeder destroys their deformed snakes as I got a one eyed anerythristic corn from a very well known breeder last year. I realize that this was probably a deformity due to incubation and I highly doubt that the breeder even knew about it (at least I hope he didn't) In fact I had it for several months before I even noticed it. That doesn't change the fact that it was a one eyed snake. I was sold this snake and simply because it is deformed I am supposed to freeze it or give it away. I don't think so. It is labled as such and is offered for sale at a discount and I will explain to anyone buying it why I would not recomend using it for breeding purposes but a a pet I am certain that it will be wonderful.

I only read the first 13 pages of this thread. If I missed anything really outrageous could someone let me know otherwise I am not going to waste any more of my time reading the rest.

Seamus..

"By having equivalent structures on each side of its head. The skin and muscle tissue on each side of the head cover a loosely suspended bone, called the quadrate, which undergoes small displacements in response to airborne sound. The quadrate motion is transferred by intermediate structures to the cochlea, which produces electrical signals on its hair cells that correlate with the airborne sounds (within a range of intensity and frequency determined by the ear system) and are transferred to the brain. Cochlear signals are present in functioning ears of all classes of vertebrates from fish to mammals, while animals that are congenitally deaf produce no such signals, so their presence in response to sound is taken as an indication of the hearing sense. Wever and co-workers [1] developed techniques to measure the hair-cell signals in lizards, snakes, and amphibians, which involved anesthetizing the specimen, inserting a very thin wire probe into contact with a hair cell, and measuring the acoustic signal level needed to produce a specified hair-cell signal (typically 0.1 microvolt). Various experiments were performed to demonstrate that the hair-cell signals were in direct response to airborne sound and not to mechanical vibrations from the medium on which the specimens were placed.
According to Porter [2], the auditory response of snakes in the range of 200 to 300 Hz is superior to that of cats. Hartline and Campbell [3] investigated the transmission of airborne sound through the snake's skin and lung into the inner ear. Wever's results show that this type of transmission, called the somatic mode, is much reduced compared to that through the skin to the quadrate, which is the main mode of hearing. How are the cochlear responses to be interpreted? Wever points out that it is often difficult to determine the role of hearing in lower forms such as reptiles. It is possible that snakes make less use of the auditory sense than other animals. He notes that the maximum sensitivity occurs in the frequency range of noise made by movements of large animals, so detection of such sounds could function as a warning to snakes to be motionless, a common defensive action with animals.

"Palustris",

Very technical and well thought post. It would be a shame if it gets deleted because you did not sign with your complete name.

pet or profit?whats important!

i dont think its right to try and procreate anything that has bad genes,at the same time its not the animals fault that its was born eyeless.to say it belongs in a freezer is wrong as well.there are plenty of people out there who wouldnt breed it and would let it live its life out as a pet.i find it sad that someones answer would be to just kill it.i am by no means agreeing with him about selling it or trying to breed it but to kill a healthy defective animal i would say is just as bad as the person who posted the ad for the snake in the first place.if spending a few dollars a week on feeding it is a burden because you cant profit off, it is wrong as well!we do this because we like it and the profits help cover the costs of the hobby!am i right?
