In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Greg Wark vs. FedEx -- Looking for Opinions

Gleaning what bits of info that you can from that receipt, the only Fedex location that would match up would be:

FedEx staffed
FedEx Express Ship Center
1017 A Macarthur Rd
Reading, PA 19605

The zip is the same, and the portion of the address that is readable matches (the "rd" with a name ending in "d", and the "A" portion of the address).

If I had received those email responses regarding your problem,I would have to conclude I had definitely been taken.Hope you can get some type of resolution, but you are absolutely being lied to about said animal being shipped.

Grrr, the attachment didn't work...

Hey all,

Yes, I agree with y'all that I got had. Thanks at least for the reassurance that I'm not utterly paranoid.

Randy, thanks for that advice; it's a long shot but I may as well try it. Worth a shot anyway. Unfortunately I've got no recourse in the way of credit cards or PayPal as I paid by money order. Even at the time I had a bad feeling about doing that -- even though I couldn't smell a scam at that point because he had been willing to meet me in person, so I knew that the snake at least existed. I just figured some people don't have PayPal, so that was why he wanted a money order. And you know, I think that maybe had we been able to work something out for shipping beforehand, this might not have happened -- I'm just wondering if he may have sold the snake to someone else in the meantime, in the approximately two months between my buying it and him "shipping" it.

I informed him of the thread last night, and I got these two messages:

I would like you to take down the thread. I would like confirmation by tomorrow 10am.

I am mildly upset you posted my name and email address on a public site, that is the reason i ask you to remove the thread. If you remove all names, email addresses and phone numbers, feel free to repost your thread free of those items.

To which I replied:

There is no removing of threads from the Board of Inquiry. I could not remove the thread even if I wanted to.

You think you're upset -- I lost $400 without a thing to show for it, and no possibility of recourse.

If you truly did nothing wrong, then that thread should pose no threat to you. You can prove that you shipped the snake as agreed, that FedEx lost the box, and that you are, overall, a good guy. Then, when people search for your name on that site -- which they WILL do, if you want to sell in herpetoculture; there was already an inquiry about you up there, with no replies -- that's what they'll see.

Or, you could try and help me out, and I could post on there that you were helpful and coorperative in resolving this matter -- which believe me I would be more than happy to do. Then, again, when people search for your name they will see that you are a good guy, that you help solve problems if they ever arise, and that you are a safe and trustworthy guy to deal with.

But otherwise, that thread will just stay there as it is. I can't remove it even if I wanted to, and neither could anyone else on that website.

Besides, why would I want to remove it? What additional thing have I got to lose?

end of email

... I don't think this guy is a full-time scammer -- he doesn't swear enough for that -- so I'm curious what he does at this point.

Greg, if you're reading this, you're more than welcome to make an account and attempt to defend yourself ... Or you can just give me what's owed to me, and then I will inform the reptile community that you fulfilled your end of the deal.

AND.....the same location offers "self-service", and it appears to be by the airport...

Self-service
Arpt Ind Prk/bldg 1 - Outside
1017a Mcarthur Rd
Reading, PA 19605

I would say that's where the package would have been shipped from, IF it had actually been shipped.

I'd start there (besides calling your cc company and Paypal, though Paypal is usually about as helpful as a hemorrhoid).

Hi Cat,

Yeah, I think you're right -- maybe I'll call FedEx and see what they have to say about what may have been shipped out of that location on that day. Whatever it was, it didn't go to my house that's for sure ...

USPS Money order. :( I still have my half of the receipt. I also of course have his address where I shipped it to ...

That's a GOOD thing! I have no experience with this, so hopefully someone more versed can fill you in better, but I believe you at least have some recourse thru the USPS if it was cashed fraudulently (unlike bank money orders).

I'd be calling your post office asap and see what they can do for you!

Yeah, the USPS does not take fraud lightly. On top of that, once you mail something across state lines, if I recall correctly, it becomes a Federal matter. Federal = FBI involvement. If you are going to scam, do not involve the Post Office in any way.

Dave

Hi all,

A-hah! I thought there might be something going on with mail fraud. Thanks for the link -- I think I will inform Greg of my intentions to involve the authorities first, and see if that gets anything rolling -- if not, I will be going to USPS and the PA authorities for sure.

Thanks all!

Mr. Wark, At this point, ( two days into this thread), 782 reptile people now know NOT to do business with you EVER. I can assure you this number will increase the longer you let this go on unresolved. It appears that you are at this point an apprentice-scammer, saw a quick way to steal some money and then produced some lame "documentation". I believe the previous poster made a good point about this now being a Federal matter using the USPS to illegaly ship across state lines AND commiting fraud. You have two options at this point:

1) Claim there must have been a mistake somewhere, IMMEDIATELY refund all monies to the buyer and restore your reputation.

or

2) Continue to ignore all this hoping it will go away, IT WON"T , you WILL be found out, you will lose thousands of potential customers and you may suffer criminal and monetary charges. Is all this worth it for 400$? I would hope just for the sake of your reputation it isn't. Do the RIGHT thing.

Kitt, IMHO, once you send your email to him, I wouldn't even wait for a reply, you may be setting yourself up more delays while he hems and haws as he 'tries to come up with the money'. File your complaint and if you get your money back, you can notify the USPS.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can do anything about the money order. Fraudulent cashing means someone stole it, not someone cashed it & never sent out what they were supposed to. The USPS doesn't have anything to do with WHY the money order was sent- only that it was cashed by the person you wrote it out to be.

If you wrote him a check, and he cashed it & didn't send out what he was supposed to, it wouldn't be a fraudulent check, would it? Because a money order works the same way. I guess you can look into it, though I wouldn't get my hopes up, were I you.

Mr. Wark, some FYI! from here:

http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/summary_0199-1558428_ITM

In the past 130 years, the mail (1) and wire (2) fraud statutes have evolved and expanded into powerful prosecutorial tools. (3) Despite the sparse legislative history, (4) courts initially assumed the purpose of the mail fraud statute was to secure the integrity of the postal service. (5) Over time, courts have expanded the application of both the mail (6) and wire (7) fraud statutes to a number of modes of communication. Moreover, the courts have found an increasingly wide range of activities punishable under the mail and wire fraud statutes. (8) Therefore, in practice, the statutes are used not merely to secure the integrity of the post office, but also to provide federal jurisdiction over a broad array of frauds. (9)

In 1994, both the mail and wire fraud statutes were expanded when Congress promulgated the Senior Citizens Against Marketing Scams Act ("SCAMS" Act). The SCAMS Act responded to the ever-increasing threat of new schemes, which often utilized private carriers, by amending the federal mail fraud statute to cover not only the United States Postal Service ("USPS") but also private interstate commercial carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL). (15) The SCAMS Act also specifically criminalized telemarketing fraud. (16) Finally, the SCAMS Act enhanced the penalties for conviction for mail and wire fraud schemes targeted at individuals aged fifty-five and older. (17)

See the part about FedEX?

Get as much information

as you can, and try to get in touch with the DA's office in that county or state. There is no sense in attempting to continue looking for a refund if he claims it was in the hands of FedEx ! So dont waste your time with that scenerio. Try whatever legal remedies are available to you including the police dept in his area.

Seriously consider to limit your liability with payment by card or paypal. At least you will have a chance at recovery.

What site did you purchase from him on? He has a few listings at this site.
http://www.hoobly.com/members/warksreptiles/

If you purchased on that site they have a complaint dept. Send them the picture of the tracking number and a link to FedEx tracking which shows,
Not found
No information for the following shipments/FedEx Kinko's orders has been received by our system yet. Please try again later or contact Customer Service.

Maybe, he has received other complaints and they will yank his ads.

Is the albino you purchased listed there?

Great find Dennis. I guess he's probably moved from apprentice to novice scammer now. Going from probably just ripping someone off to later offering probable same animal for sale.
Kitt, Do you have any pics of the animal you were to be sold? Was it a male and what age, weight were you told it would be?
You also might want to capture that image before he deletes it.

Whats funny is that I will be in the market for an albino ball but after reading this there is no way I will be buying from this scammer.
