In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey, a quick question. Is it acceptable to have the seller send the package, have them give you the tracking number, you verify, and then paypal them the money? That way your covered on both sides. Since the seller can also recall a package prior to it being delivered. Or, what would you suggest to prevent something like this happening to someone else?

None of these actions would be needed if you dealt with people you know or have a good reputation in the industry. Why chance something when your hard earned cash is involved. Just my .02 now back on topic

Yes, Dennis, that is "my" snake. Thanks for the find.

I have a few ideas on this -- will get back to you all with my findings.

Wishing you luck. If nothing plans out hopefully this thread helps someone else beforehand.

Got it and agreed with it, Serafim. I have always dealt with people within driving distance, or friend of a friend. Seems like now, a lot of stuff is done through the net, and even when you think you know the person, sometimes it turns out to be a really shitty deal. I read a lot of the post here, and it has made me realize that sometimes you just can never tell.

Guys, if he takes this to the Postal Inspector , they can find out who owns the PO box in about 2 shakes of a snake tail. So no sense in posting the addy's of the innocent here.. Randy

You have a point. It could possibly be the information of a different party. Just trying to help. Hopefully the Post Office would take action of some kind.

Thanks all for the info. You guys are good!

Unfortunately this couldn't have happened at a worse time and I have no clue when the heck I'm going to deal with this, although I DON'T want to let this scumbag get away with it. Maybe tomorrow I will have time to file a fraud complaint. I hope so.

I normally never, EVER do business with folks I don't trust like this -- for some reason I thought that the fact that he was willing to meet me beforehand (this indicating that he must've owned and planned to sell the snake, unless he planned to mug me) meant that he would be honest and just send it. It's just unfathomable to me how somebody could turn around and decide to just rip someone off, instead of going through with a business deal as planned. Plus I thought having his address meant something ... And maybe it still will, if I can use aforementioned addresses to file a complaint with the FBI.

I don't want to let this guy get away with this ... I will do what I can.

I can also bump this thread so that people can see it! ... Is there any way to change the title of the thread to something like, "Greg Wark/People Friendly Serpents -- BAD GUY!!" ?

AND $400 shipped for an albino is one of those too good to be true deals. It obviously was unfortunately.

That's what sucks -- if I had just gotten off my butt and drove down there, I could've gotten the snake for $400. Oh well.

Don't get down on yourself too much Kitt, there are good people out there who will have a bona fide 'too good to be true' but honest deal (I took a chance and got one myself a couple of months ago with an albino and het albino boa). It just sucks that you gave someone the benefit of the doubt and came across an :censored: .

Kitt, considering society lately I wouldn't even be meeting some guy I got a hinky feeling about in person when he knows I'm showing up with a pocket full of cash. Sadly you've had an expensive lesson about good deals not being such good deals and trusting your gut instincts.

I hope you are able to get some resolution to this issue and get the law to deal with this scammer.

Some resolution, finally ..!

Some resolution, finally ..!

... Kinda.

Well, to make a really, really long story short, I did end up contacting the police, and the officer in charge of the case was EXTREMELY helpful and took everything quite seriously. In the end, it turned out that there was more than one scummy kid involved, and that each one, being the wonderful and honest human beings that they were, kept trying to pin the blame on the other. :ack2:

In the end, the father of scammer kid "B" (last name appears to be "Wingenroth") offered to send a refund for the cost of the (theoretical) "snake" plus the money order, and, as much as I would have liked to see some sort of conviction arise from this, I accepted. The check appears to have cleared, so it looks like, at least for now, this is the end of it.

Moral of the story? Don't send money to people you don't know. Ever. And if you screw up and DO get screwed over, go to the police!

wow Kitt.... thats insane. Im reading this whole thread, and thinking... wow... i cannot believe this is happening to her!!! ( i wasnt realizing the dates until just a minute ago)

Im glad, eventually things got resolved.. TOOK LONG ENOUGH!

Good for you Kitt! I hope that they put the fear of God into those kids. Here's hoping that you find your perfect albino now (if you haven't already)!

Congrats on the resolution. I'm sorry to hear those kids will probably get off scott free. But atleast you got your money back and will hopefully be able to get your snake from a reputable breeder.

Good for you Kitt! I hope that they put the fear of God into those kids.

Robin -- I wish I could say that were so (that these kids would never scam someone again). Sadly, someone else posted on here that he, too had been scammed by "Greg Wark" (who, again, appears to be more than one person) -- and his post happened AFTER the kids had already been spoken to by the police officer! His thread is here:

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121338

My hope is that maybe the father (who had to pay back the money) will have taught the kid a lesson, but you never know ... Apparently the other victim never did contact the police :( so chances are "Wark" (or whoever it is) will get away with it with someone else
