In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Guess I found out why high humidity is bad...

Well, went to make some small cuts in a clutch today that will be hatching in a little while. After cutting them I noticed an egg on another clutch looked rather strange. I went and touched it and the dang thing burst! Needless to say, after realizing bandaids are not going to fix it I resorted to pulling it off and it is now on paper towels (last season I had an incubator issue and cut a clutch on day 62, when it turned out they still had like another month to go, so, I have some experience having to deal with the egg on paper towel thing). However, This is a pretty big burst in the side and while pulling it off another egg started leaking through the bottom. I know exactly what I did wrong as far as the humidity. It has been high this whole season however Ive made a point checking on the eggs every other day and wiping the top of the container off. However, with the move, that has not been happening, so, thus, silly avoidable things like this happen. I bandaided the other egg, however, not completely sure if that will help or last. Lowering the humidity is an obvious fix, any further ideas on how to deal with the burst eggs though?

a few holes in the tubs works wonders for keeping the humidity in check.

Be careful keeping eggs that you cut too early on paper towels, we had a few die that way last year due to what I believe was absorbing even more water through the bottom of the egg...
We do move ours onto paper towels after they pip and start to breath air on their own.

I personally would have it on egg crate until it's about to come out on it's own, but that's just me.

Good luck Shantel!

You can use Wite Out, or Liquid Skin, on the leaking eggs. I'm not sure how big the "burst" is...you may want to try something to cover/secure the opening before sealing (to avoid stuff getting into the egg fluid, and potentially harming the baby).

Jerry, I guess I should clarify. Its not sitting directly on top of the towels. I put it in dixie cup with damp towels around it. Worked great for the kids I cut before they were ready last year. I never cut my eggs unless they are showing signs of being ready anymore..;) If they arent showing signs of hatching soon they dont get even the slightest cut. This one burst so no avoiding it getting a hole in it, lol.

The burst is HUGE! The whole side wall is caved in, thus why I decided bandaids werent gonna cut it. Veins/fluid leaked out when it burst. Not sure what else to do other then the dixie cup thing..
