Has anyone heard of Tim Koppenhof?

Laura i just learned this lesson with this purchase that paperwork and not enough info. happens. Or not proper info. happens in all my years of collecting snakes.

To the poster who wanted the Vets. name to call about the snake. You will get no information about my animal. They do not give out personal info. to anyone but the owner or another Vet. with my permission. So i will not put the Vet. my snake seen today in that situation.

I am gathering up as much info. as i can. Sitting back and waiting to see if Dan can get the original breeder of the snake. He said he will try, and the guy should be at the next show.

He was treated today for the problem. And got a B-12 injection as well.

I was told by her to have him treated every year for worms. I will see what my Vet. says about that as well.

I know i can't get a refund, it's been almost 4 weeks now. I have to take the bad here and no matter what happens it was a mess up.

This guy who traded the snakes to Dan must be known by someone. I just want to know if anyone here had dealings with him as well.

Someone has got to know of him if he is at shows.

The animal is my responsibility now. Just looking for help here with this man who sells and trades at shows i guess.

No need to beat a dead horse. I went in and touched the snake it did not respond, hell i will wait until tomorrow and see if he is ok again..i do know de-worming can hit them hard. And he's a little guy.

After reading your posts....I think the best thing you could do for your snake and all of us that have been subjected to your insane rantings is take the snake and have it and yourself Put down....

Now, it's been a mess since it started, and if this snake would not have gotten sick i would not even have found out valuable information i did so far!!!

Learn to take your own advice. You've posted very very little to help your own cause. As soon as you were questioned about anything you flew off the handle. That helps how?

He is in a small Vision cage. He is on newspaper, heat provided one side between 80's up to higher 80's and can be turned up to 90 if needed during the day lower slightly at night. This IS temps. not uth warmth he has. It is slightly warm as it should be on the uth if he wants.

I'm assuming you mean this as his " ambient temps" since you mention its not the UTH temps. Is that the variation from cool side to hot side or is fluctuating temps throughout the entire cage? There is something about your description that just don't set right. I may be reading it wrong but I kinda get the impression the temps fluctuate and you have no idea what his hot spot is.
Too high temps can cause stress and illness as well. Please correct me if I'm reading this wrong.

I have a Rheostat along with with a Thermometer that shows over all Temps. in the cage, and radiant temps. as well. He has hide boxes on both ends (cool and warm and one in the middle by the shallow water dish) I do not use lights over my cages. I do now use fish tanks for snakes!!!

Nevermind , wasn't reading it wrong. Rheostats do not control temps like a good thermastat will. If I remember correctly , they don't shut off the heat at all , works mearly the same as a dimmer and controls the amount of current flow into the uth.

When a snake starts turning on it's back...i don't question my husbandry (no chemicals etc) i look at a disease! Start there and work your way down

???? If your husbandry is so up to par why would look to disease first? Thats like replacing the starter in your car IN CASE thats why the radio don't work. If it is your husbandry then how many goes down while your waiting for test results BEFORE you check something else BEFORE you check your husbandry. Do you have fecal and bloodwok done to see if you should check your heat pads? Chemicals and diseases aren't the only things to kill reptiles. Dumbass keepers manage to do it on a regular basis.

Always start from the bottom and work up to find a problem. YOU are in no way so perfect as your husbandy can never be questioned. No one here is above question. You'd be suprised what you'd find out about yourself and your " skills " if you questioned yourself realistically.

I know who you people are, the ones selling on Myspace when others pay for advertising here...so it's easy to point fingers, however it's not fair

Pamela,this quote was from an earlier, by Alan, and to me is one of the most important questions in the thread, because the answer will tell us much more about your motives here, and enlighten us as to your concern for the animal in question. Was all of the information about the breeder, the age, the sheds, what it was feeding on, etc. sent to you in email prior to shipment,or was it just typed on a 8.5x11 sheet of paper and place in the box?? Was the information adequate for you to make a decision to purchase? Your replies all pretty much tell us how picky you are in selecting normal boas for purchase, you ask many questions aparently, and go above and beyond in your search for animals with paperwork that meets your criteria. Knowing that, or being lead to believe that, by reading your psot, I wonder why you never thought to ask about a Tim Koppenhof prior to your initial post here. Someone as picky as yourself in your desire to know the source , and all information associated with a normal boa, would have done some research on Tim Koppenhof, and seen that there is no such person. It is kind of hard to say that you get all of the information prior to buying, and that you demand everything be in place, when you didn't know that there is no Tim Koppenhof before the first reply about the other Tim in this thead.
What if anything was said in the initial emails, before the sale, to make you decide that this was the boa for you? When did you find out about a 4 hour guarantee? If it was before the sale, then you were fine with it when money was sent. If there was no implied, or stated warranty before the sale, then you should be happy that a 4 hour guarantee was given at all.
If you are as lax in your quarantine, and care as you are in your animal selection(Which is obviously not as "perfect" as you make it sound), then perhaps your husbandry isn't "perfect" either.

My theory is that the rest of the clutch does not and did not have a parasite, as they are doing just fine says the people who have the rest of the clutch. I think that you simply fed your snake a pinkie or fuzzy that had a parasite in it or on it and thats why it stopped eating after two feedings. If it indeed had the parasite when dan shipped it, wouldnt it have gone bonkers before it even ate again? Clearly, it ate for you...twice...how far apart were the feedings? after the second feeding how long until you realized something was wrong? see, it seems to me that it somehow got a parasite from something it was fed when you had it, otherwise it wouldnt have eaten twice.

Before I head out for the fireworks, I have a hunch on the whole "paperwork" issue.

Dan sells Pamela a normal boa. She asks for paperwork, due to her concerns about FLA laws. I'm not a boa guy, or a floridian, but I'm guessing that normal, run of the mill boas do not usually come with papers.

Dan types up a paper, based on his best knowledge at the time, so Pamela has something to show, if it ever becomes an issue with fish and game.

Snake becomes sick. Now the papers are a big deal for Pamela, when, in fact, the papers have nothing to do with the sick snake.

Like I said, just a hunch, but right now, that's how it looks to me.

Boas DO NOT fall under the laws here! Condas do. Not RTB's.

I wanted papers for feed cycle, sheds and birth, etc...
What the hell is going on...? Dan you knew this!!!!

Well it seems as if her cages are not as clean as she thinks they are...seems she cant get the feces seepage out of the tank, this can harbor lots of parasites if not cleaned properly

I cannot help you unless you help us as well. so if you refuse the info on your vet then i will have to simply assume that it never saw a vet, you said you had paper work from the vet today. you are quick to critisize but suspiciously slow on providing us the info we need. why are you not willing to provide this for us?????????!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?

you did tell me about your problem with myspace. that is a post by you on fauna about you rescuing animals and that poses a serious threat to your collection and the snake i sold you. that is why it was brought up. it is a post about rescues and can be valuable to our investigation on this matter. weather it was you or not it still needs to be adressed. do you currently have any rescue reptiles....boids? a lot of parasites and infection are specie spacific and this will help us only to figure out the oragin of the parasite infestation. again I am trying to help, and it would be much easier if we helped eachother.

Dan you told me today it's been almost a month now, you can not refund my money. I will ship him back however. I'm done. YES, with Vet. papers. I wont promise live arrival however, is that how you want to do this.

All i wanted was PROPER info. I was sent wrong info. and yes told i would get what i asked for for record keeping...

The second post is from 7/4/07 if I remember correctly, if I am wrong, I apologize for that. It isn't about myspace anyway, it is a legitimate concern about cages.
Now, on to my concern. You were trying to figure out how to control, or clean "seepage". From my experience, there isn't seepeage from a snake that is not sick. Seeping crap would be something that allerted me to a possible problem before a small boa stopped eating. How many animals do you have with seeping poop?
Maybe you should be worried about your entire collection, as you mentioned above. However, if your quarantine is as good as you like to think, it probably isn't that baby boa you got from Dan that you should be looking at the hardest.
