    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Heating my BP, lamp, pad...??

hmm, I dont think so. Maybe I could rig something poor-man's style like styrofoam around 3 sides of the tank to keep temps more consistent, at least until I get a bigger tank...

I've done that before, when I used tanks. :yesnod: When I get a bit of free time, I'll see if I can hunt down a pic and post it for you.

Here's a few pics from different points, so you can see what I did. It ws very effective. Remember I told you about plexiglass tops..this is an example:

As a hospital, I covered all sides of the tank and could monitor the snake from the top:

As a quarantine tank (when I had fewer animals:

Haha! I use that exact same thermometer (Springfield)! Don't you love how accurate they are? I even use them in my incubators, and you can't beat the cheap Walmart price!

yes, in summer if it is on a tstat and temps get above or at that temp it will not run i have done this for the last 15 years the heat will only run if the temp is below 83. up here we sometimes have cooler dqys and nights in the summer and instead of heating individual cages it is cheaper to heat the whole room

Great pics, thAnk you Deb, I notice the tank itself is resting ion top of a layer of insulation as well. what i have read and been told is that the UTH should have some air-space underneath it for circulation and/or safety, did you run the styrofoam all the way underneath the heat-pad?

I did. To make the heat go up instead of dispersing out. It helped in that I didn't have to run the thermostat so high to get an even gradient.

But notice it's not air tight..there is no tape holding it in place.

So what would everyone here think about my idea of wrapping one end and half the length of the tank in heat-tape and running it at 85 deg or so to get a comfortable temp on that one side of the tank, and letting the other side stay cool at whatever the drop off temp is without the heat-tape...?

its just an idea
