In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, everyone! :)

My name is Lindsey and I'm 19. I live in a tiny town in Minnesota (all we have is a gas station and a hardware store). A friend (or rather a client where I work) recommended this site to me when I mentioned that I had already found an aquarium site and a horse site, but no reptile site. (I don't know his username, he says he stopped coming here but wouldn't say why? :shrug01: ) I've been handling herps since I could walk, but the vast majority of them were WC and never fully captured... My backyard was like a living toybox! :) I could go out, catch an American toad or tiger salamander, feed it some worms, and let it go. I had alot of fun doing that sort of thing until Life took over. My favorite WC herps are American toads, without a doubt. Did you know, they will lean into you like a cat if you tickle them behind the eardrum? They will also crouch low and stalk their prey (also like a cat) if it is a little too far away. I also went through a brief phase of breeding line-backed woodfrogs to make the line wider. I thought that maybe, after a while, I could get their entire back to be that golden color... But I gave up on it. I love turtles and tortoises, but I've never been particularily talented at keeping them, so I stay away from them. I've only ever had one purchased snake - a female snow cornsnake - who was unusually pink. I loved her and loved having her, but I couldn't stand feeding her mice, because I love them too, so I gave her to a friend and she's now nearly five feet long. I wouldn't mind getting another snake if only I didn't have to feed it mice. Even dead ones. Feeding bugs and eggs doesn't bother me a bit, but for some reason, feeding little critters makes me sad. I've had alot of different animals, aside from venemous snakes, and would really like to get back into them again.

My, I talk alot. Sorry.
My ultimate reason for joining this site would be to expand my knowlege of herp-keeping. Right now, I don't have any, but I'm looking into getting some real dandies, including my favorites - the Vietnamese mossy treefrogs. :)

All advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Welcome!!!
Greetings from California! I always think it's so neat how you can connect with people from all over like this. :yesnod:

Once upon a time I had a backyard full of amphibians like that. Growing up, whenever my mon would water the garden, I would snatch one or two. I never kept them for any amount of time, just showed them to her and she'd tell me to put them back so that they'd eat all the bugs. :p It really is fun isn't it? :D

I think they're just adorable, but I don't actaully have an interest in keeping any, so I'm afraid I can't offer any advice. There's loads of good folks on the forums here that can help you though I'm sure. The classifieds are cool too, you can find lots of CBB animals. I'm not familiar, but I've seen things like bullfrogs and pacmans come in albino. Might be kinda neat to work with morphs perhaps~

HOPE YOU HAVE FUN!

:) Thanks for the welcome!

I did the same thing when I was little... Only my mom screamed, LOL. I'll admit, I liked that part a little bit.

:) I love pacman frogs. Such pudgy, jolly little things! I'm really big into treefrogs though. My ultimate goal is to build a massive glass enclosure and combine several Vietnamese species, including gliding treefrogs. :D Then my life will be nearly complete!

Thanks so much for the friendly welcome! :)

LOL "Mom look what I got!" I can see it now~
I'm lucky that my mother never minded the creepy crawlies. She doesn't like them, but she always humors me anyways. Very sweet lady her. :D

I'm wishing you best of luck with your dream! Sounds like it'd be a beautiful viv! Personally I love tree frogs, especially when they look like they're smiling. Nothing cuter! :p

P.S. Happy New Year as well~

Hey Lindsey, wish I could help you out more but I am a ball python guy. The best I can do is welcome you! If you ever decide to get a ball, look me up.

Welcome! I see that you're a ways away from me in MN. I'm more of a snake person, but we have a very active herp society in MN and a lot of members are very knowledgeable. Just google Minnesota Herpetological Society (I don't remember if I am supposed to link other sites) and there's a lot of info for native herps and local people you could talk to. I'm not saying not to stay here, too. This is a pretty active board and you should be able to find people to help. :)
