Hello, everyone!
My name is Lindsey and I'm 19. I live in a tiny town in Minnesota (all we have is a gas station and a hardware store). A friend (or rather a client where I work) recommended this site to me when I mentioned that I had already found an aquarium site and a horse site, but no reptile site. (I don't know his username, he says he stopped coming here but wouldn't say why?
) I've been handling herps since I could walk, but the vast majority of them were WC and never fully captured... My backyard was like a living toybox!
I could go out, catch an American toad or tiger salamander, feed it some worms, and let it go. I had alot of fun doing that sort of thing until Life took over. My favorite WC herps are American toads, without a doubt. Did you know, they will lean into you like a cat if you tickle them behind the eardrum? They will also crouch low and stalk their prey (also like a cat) if it is a little too far away. I also went through a brief phase of breeding line-backed woodfrogs to make the line wider. I thought that maybe, after a while, I could get their entire back to be that golden color... But I gave up on it. I love turtles and tortoises, but I've never been particularily talented at keeping them, so I stay away from them. I've only ever had one purchased snake - a female snow cornsnake - who was unusually pink. I loved her and loved having her, but I couldn't stand feeding her mice, because I love them too, so I gave her to a friend and she's now nearly five feet long.
I wouldn't mind getting another snake if only I didn't have to feed it mice. Even dead ones. Feeding bugs and eggs doesn't bother me a bit, but for some reason, feeding little critters makes me sad. I've had alot of different animals, aside from venemous snakes, and would really like to get back into them again.
My, I talk alot. Sorry.
My ultimate reason for joining this site would be to expand my knowlege of herp-keeping. Right now, I don't have any, but I'm looking into getting some real dandies, including my favorites - the Vietnamese mossy treefrogs.
All advice is greatly appreciated!
