In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Help, newbie with a problem?

PS. As I said they look nice, but I hope to God for you they can produce. With Rito being the way his it just makes me wonder. Good luck. Let us know if you decide to go to the BOI with this. We will stand by you.

thanks everyone! and Yeah I hope to god they produce! There is a local show this weekend in Denver and two leo breeders will be there so we are planning on picking up at least one more pair, and probably some single females.

I am going to email the guy in question and ask him straight up. So, we'll see what happenes.

Thanks again

Sarah

With as male heavy as you are, you might just want to get the single females to help balance that out. Unless, of course, you find a really nice male you can't go without!

Sarah,

Whether or not you decide to take this to the Board of Inquiry should be contingent on how comfortable you feel in doing so. I think it's commendable that you are willing to give the dealer a chance to give you an explanation or to rectify this issue before making the call. Going to the BOI to give a "bad guy" report oftentimes requires substantial evidence of wrongdoing to start a thread with any amount of credibility. Unfortunately, in my particular situation I have only my word and very little documentation to substantiate my claim. You, on the other hand, have the evidence at hand and I would back you not only as a character witness but as a fellow unsatisfied customer. As originally stated, though, this is entirely up to you.

Frankly, I'm disgusted that not only did I endorse this individual on three different accounts on this website, but I recommended him to others as well. It wasn't until months down the road that pre-existing problems with my animals surfaced. I am enacting a new rule for my personal "good guy" posts that will require me to have done business with the party in question more than once and to have had the animals for six months before I even think of singing anyone's praises. There is just too much at stake.

On a different note, we have to deliver an animal to one of our clients who is vending at the new Reptile Show so we will be attending this weekend as well. I hope the Leopard Gecko breeders that you are thinking about purchasing from are not the same local people who told you that "Rita" was female. :) Seriously, I'm sure you'll find some great animals there and best of luck in your projects. I hate seeing anyone get taken advantage of, but when I know the person it's even worse. Hope everything pans out and that the other party makes good on his deal with you.

Take care.

I just went and looked at them myself. They are quite nice looking on the whole but again not what you expected.I agree getting some more females would help your situation.....By the way I love your cockatiels...I have a male and female...exatly the same kinds too...My Lutinio is the male and my pearl the female...and I also had trouble deciding if she were a he or a she.Which is why she has the nuetral name of Smokey....LOL

well, no I wont be buying any leos from the people who told me he was a she, HOWEVER, I trust those people wholeheartedly. Now, I am new to leos, but not new to reptiles in general and it did not take me long to figure out the difference in sexes. There was 100% never any doubt in my mind "Rita" was a female when we first got them. Remember, we had five obvious adult males to compare her to. When we got her, she did NOT have those big. waxy pores, I will stake my life on that, period! This is what has me so confused!

As for the BOI, yeah you have to have your ducks in a row, and quite frankly, I knew this deal was more males than females from the get go. And this guy never expressed any guarantees at all, so honestly, I dont think I have a leg to stand on if an argument happens. I am not expecting any replacements, I am not even expecting an apology! I sent him two favorite dragons and when he got them I asked him to tell me how they were doing, and I never heard from him again.

Honestly if anyone wants to know who he is I will tell you privately, but I will tell you this, if you do a BOI search with FireDrake I am sure you will find my inquiry on him, you will know because Jennifer posted on it as well.

And Jennifer, if YOU wanted to post there, I will back you up as well. Also, that pink toe has been refusing to eat for me for a while now, she just shed, so I hoped that would give her an appatite, but nothing! Any tricks? I've tried crickets, two different kinds of roaches and superworm beetles.

Hehe my cockatiels are so obnoxious, but I love them!
I still like the leos we have, just wish it could have been different!

No, I don't think I'll be doing that but thank you for the offer. :)

There are a myriad of reasons your Pink Toe Tarantula may have gone of feed and it would be impossible for me to tell you why, in the six months or so that you've had her, that she has become anorexic. I do not know your arachnid husbandry or the enclosure with which you have provided her, but I do know that when evaluating *any* anorexic animal I always look first to my husbandry and seek to improve it as a solution.

The following are links to Pink Toe, Arboreal and General Tarantula Caresheets available on the internet. You may or may not find them useful.

You may also want to try reading various literature pertaining to arachnids. Fitzgerald Publishing offers several books specifically regarding the captive care of tarantulas, or you can try "The Proper Care of Tarantulas" by Ann Webb, "Keeping and Breeding Tarantulas" by Ronald N. Baxter, "Tarantulas and Other Arachnids" by Samuel D. Marshall, or "The Tarantula Keeper's Guide" by Shultz and Shultz.

Best of luck.

thanks for the links, my husbandry is right on according to all those sites. She's misted daily and the whole room is in the low to mid 80's all the time. Oh well this is the leo forum, not tarantulas!

thanks

Sarah
