In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here's more eggs and no babies!!! lol

When do the eggs stop.:ack2: today was clutch#3, I've been anxious to see a baby. So it's been 57 days of incubation on clutch 1 still no sweating or collasping as of yet. I'm going crazy:nuts:. We'll see what happens by next week (crossing fingers).

Patience you must have young Jedi.

Here is my scenario...

I have a female (hypotransleather) that was mated by Raz a (lavtranslthr).

Im expecting some eggs here in about the next two weeks or so.

My only problem is that I work 7:30am out the door until 4pm back home every day.

I'm worried about her laying when Im not home possibly and what precautions I can take.

Can anyone offer advice?

Here is the female that is gravid:

Wow, that should be an AWESOME pairing! From what I've seen, as long as the female doesn't lay the eggs directly on top of the surface (where they can dry out quickly), if you get the eggs into the incubator within 12-24 hours of her laying them they will be fine. Good luck!

Jarrod, don't get impatient if the 60 day expected incubation period comes and goes....it may take longer than that. My first ever clutches [ almost 16 years ago [ took 80 days to hatch....I don;t remember exact reason, probably low temps., but the babies were fine and healthy. They've never taken that long since. Wayne, you can keep your female in her nesting box while you're not at home....a large sterilite container [ the ones that are about 2 1/2 feet high ] and fill with moist sand/ soil mix about a foot high. Keep a basking light over the top with the lid being altered by cutting a large hole and gluing a piece of screen there. Or you could put a small sterilite container like the one I pictured and introduce her in to it and let her go in and out as she pleases. I always position it next to the basking log for easy access. My females learn that that is where the nesting site is and always lay in there. That's my experience anyway.

She laid 28 eggs last night so all together from the 3 clutches equals 75 eggs and all have woderful veins and clutch 1 eggs are like a grey colorish so the babies are absolutely scrunch in there. I'm just excited to see the new babies. This is here first ever breeding and seeing another dragon. So I thought I would have a lot of infertile eggs but I got none. Do they sweat before they collaspe. The last eggs I had 2 years ago just collasped never sweated. I have 2 sweating right now..

Wayne, how do you know she is gravid and due in a couple weeks? I also wouldn't worry about the time frame. You should be fine with the eggs being in the lay box. I have always used a seperate lay bin for females. Large rubbermaid with a dome light angled down into it. I used half dirt half sand mix in the past, but have since switched to eco earth. It is much lighter and the females easily dig in it. For incubation medium i really like the coarse glitter grade vermiculite from big apple herp. I also had good luck with using the squamata concepts box this year.

I usually see the same process with the eggs. I incubate at 84. Just a day or two prior to hatching i see a slight increase of condensation, then the eggs sweat a little, then they collapse a little. Next the baby will slit the egg and then come out usually within a few hours but this can take a day or so.

thanks for the help guys

I will get a lay box made up for her as you have advised ASAP.

Usually its 20-30 days from time of mating?

Well... I saw Raz actually side mounted on her in a full mount and hump session two weeks ago.:censored:

Now her appetite has increased and her belly has swollen up considerably.

I am not 100% postive but all signs are looking good so far.

Here is a picture I took yesterday of her swollen belly.

Her appetite has increased quite drastically as I stated, she is plump really swollen looking although I dont feel any distinct egg shapes in her belly when held just yet.

What do you think?

What incubator should I purchase? I was looking at a few different ones. Exoterra model that looks like a little mini fridge, the reptibator, or possibly making my own.

Real excited and hopeful although I did put Raz with three different females. That hypotrans girl I actually witnessed him mounting and pumping. The others he was with but I did not physically witness the magic.

From the first picture that you posted of her in the bowl with the crickets, it looked like she could be gravid. But those bumps could also have been fat pouches. As she gets closer to laying (if she is gravid), you should start to be able to feel the eggs inside of her.

I prefer the Reptibator, but that's also the only that I've tried out of the ones that you've listed. Whichever one that you choose, make sure to test it out at least 24-48 hours before you actually put eggs into it.

I have a home made one. I found a 3/4 size stand up freezer, gutted it(motor, shelves, etc) and installed a heat lamp for the heat source and I now use a johnson controls unit to control the temp. It fluctuates about 1 degree or less +/-. I set the probe for the thermostat in the freezer itself(not in a container), then have a dummy egg box with medium in it and the probe from a thermometer buried in it. Thermometer is mounted outside and it really doesn't fluctuate a whole lot at all. I think if I converted to heat tape I would get a more even heat distribution, but this setup has been working for the past so many years so I haven't messed with it much.

Usually they will plump up a bit like you are saying yours is. Once you can actually feel the lumps in the belly its real close...like days away. Once she starts digging at the corners she is ready.

When I suspect my female is gravid I usually give her a good soak in the tub and I gently feel her stomach. Mine usually flattens out in the bath so it might be a little easier to tell. But when she is a day away for her laybox she don't like her belly touched at all..

Thank you for the helpful insights. I like this guys incubator concept.

Pretty elaborate though.

I may just order one for now and build one slowly but surely and do it right.

Although I have a buddy who says you cant mess up bearded dragon eggs they are fairly easy to hatch.

Im worried about the holes in the deli cups. How many do you use? Also Im going to order hatchright and just go that route because the medium water mixture sounds kinda like a hassle to get it perfect.

I use hatchrite, and a hoverbator I still had to add alittle water to it but not that much. I know other people that use eco earth it holds water alittle better and helps bring the humidity up much better than verm.

Eggs are relatively easy to take care of, just can't let them dry out and can't get them too wet. You can have temp fluctuations tolerated when they are cool, but too much heat will kill them much more quickly [ above 90 ] I still use vermiculite, or sand verm. mix. Eco-earth can get moldy, so be careful about using it. My incubator is an old refrigerator, I've used it for 15 years. I use plastic shoe boxes instead of deli cups.
