    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

het platty daddy?

How do het platties work? are they hets like a het pied? were they can be 100% or 66% or 50%? or is it just a hidden gene that is passed on all the time? If you breed a het platty to a lesser and get one visuals does that mean all the normal babies are het? If I knew m,ore about this I may get one LOL. Also does the platty pass on to other multiple genes? Like can you make a pastel platty daddy? Or black pastel platty daddy?

How does this work???

Doesn't it work similar to mojave x mystic ?

The original platty daddy when bred to a normal produced lessers and im assuming "hidden gene plattys"
 
Ya. I think it is allelic. So when you breed a platty daddy to a normal, you will not reproduce the platty daddy only lessers and het platty daddy. I dont believe het platty daddy works like recessives. Anyone know if some one has breed two het platty daddies together?
 
Cody has it right: they're allelic. So the only way to know you have a het Platty Daddy is to breed a Platty Daddy to something. The babies will all be either Lessers or het Platty Daddies.

I don't know if I've ever seen something labeled 66%/50%/etc. Platty Daddy, but I don't see how else one would label them if they weren't produced directly from a Platty Daddy. A Lesser x het Platty Daddy should produce normals that are all 50% het Platty Daddy.

Not sure if anyone's bred two het Platty Daddies together. Ralph Davis would probably be the one to ask about that.
 
so the only way to know if the normal babies in the clutch a normals het platty is if one of the parents is a platty daddy lesser? or is it a gene like lesser were its a codom gene and some of the babies are the ciodom and some arent??? or will all the normals be het daddy?
 
from what i understand if you breed a platty daddy to a normal you get lessers and normals that carry the platty gene. and if i read it right only the normals carry the gene and can make plattys.
 
Then you have to breed the normal het platty to a lesser to get platty daddies? What is your breeding a lesser daddy to a normal lesser?
 
you could get 50% platty daddy by breeding a het platty to a normal or even to a lesser...the normals would be 50% hets...so yes it is a an Allele in the lesser/mojave/mystic/phantom/mocha/white diamond (did i miss 1) complex...it reacts with the lesser to make the Platnum....I believe I thought it was bred into mojave as well...or phantom....i could be wrong on that...if you buy a het platty...you better make sure its a good source....

Not only the "normals" are het platty, but anything that is not a lesser. Example
Platty Daddy x Pastel = lesser, lesser pastel, pastel het platty, and "normal" het platty. There are no proven % for het platinum, only het or not. Some say that a het produces more hets, but I've never seen or heard proof to back that up. And I have looked, as somone looking to invest in that project. I have small hopes for a platty to Black Pastel clutch this year. Also looking for a combo het platty female, but noone ever lets them go.
 
But I have heard of people producing random platy daddy's from breeding there lesser to a normal i wish i could find the post but this was a while ago. Does anyone recall reading the same forum post or hear of such instances?

The daddy gene is a very subtle morph, what they thought was a normal, was in fact a daddy gene.

too my knowledge not too many people have a platty daddy...so if there are some double morphs with it...they have not been reveled as of yet...
 
I know of 3 differant platty daddy combos and a number of combo co dom's het platty, I won't list them or say who has them as I don't know if they want that information public. I'm looking for a female that is a co dom and is het for platty, ie: pinstripe het platty, or het red axanthic het platty (just to make it really confusing). As there is no way I could afford a platty combo female. I can dream though
 
If I have this Platty gene down right (and that is a big if) then I would run a simple (single trait) punnet square where:

LN = Lesser
LL = Super Lesser
NN = Normal
Lp = Platty Daddy
pN = Het Platty
pp = Super Platty (Normal Looking)

When I do the Platty daddy to Platty daddy cross I would get:

Lp X Lp = 25% Super Lessers (LL) , 50% Platty Daddy (Lp), and 25% Super Platty (pp)

The fun part would be holding back a Super Platty (Normal looking) and breed it to a Super Lesser female. Which I'm thinking would give:

pp X LL = 100% Platty Daddy (Lp) $$$$ :)
