In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

All I have to say is wow, how did I not know about this site earlier? I have been a reptile lover for years and never realized how nice a community would be to belong to. I live in Minnesota and we don't have too much up here as far as communities go.

A little about me, I'm 24 and am the only one out of my girlfriends to love and own reptiles. Most of my friends have grown to like my beardies as much as I have, but I've owned a lot more than just beardies. :)

I have owned beardies for almost a decade, but I have taken care of much more in my past. I try to help out rescues and bring them back to life, but unfortunately most were so malnourished that they didn't make it long. We don't have very many good reptile vets out here either so it was very hard to bring reptiles back after they have given up. I took in an iguana, chinese water dragon and even a crestie that were all sold to people who didn't know how to take care of them. All that being said, I currently have a 2 year old beardie named Flint that I adore and I'm looking to get a Uromastyx.

One of my good friends has a Uro and raves about how much he likes her. I have done about 5 hours of research so far and cannot wait to see what else is out there to learn.

If anyone has any species they would recommend to a moderately advanced reptile owner I would greatly appreciate it. I have noticed that most species of Uro either require a previous Uro owner or are easier to take care of. I'm looking for one in the middle of that road and would love some color as well if that's at all possible. :)

I just wanted to give a quick hello and say thank you for having this community. I've only just joined yesterday, but have already visited the site so many times it already feels like home! :)

Thank you again,

-Kristina

Welcome to Fauna Kristina, it's very nice to 'meet' you! :D

Caring homes can sometimes be hard to come by for certain critters, so kudos if you can properly care for those others couldn't. I'm sad that your rescues didn't always do well for you though, it's always such a shame knowing it might have been prevented had the owner been more educated...
That's why it's always great to see responsible folks doing research first! I find uromastyx incredibly neat-looking myself and have heard before that mali are the easiest to care for, but being just a snake person, I have to recommend you seek opinions from someone with actual experience. ;) Perhaps try the lizard forum, you can share your beardie there as well if you'd like, I'm sure Flint is adorable~

Best of luck!

Thank you! I can't wait to look around the site and see everything it has to offer. I hope to post pictures of Flint soon :)

I love snakes as well, but not feeding them. I used to take care of ball pythons and corn snakes at a pet store I worked at, but when it came time to feed them I always reacted when they would strike that I know I couldn't do it for years haha.

I have heard a lot about Mali's so I will continue to look in to them. Thank you for that recommendation :) I will definitely head over to their discussion board to see if any Uro experts can help me decide.

Thank you again!
