All I have to say is wow, how did I not know about this site earlier? I have been a reptile lover for years and never realized how nice a community would be to belong to. I live in Minnesota and we don't have too much up here as far as communities go.
A little about me, I'm 24 and am the only one out of my girlfriends to love and own reptiles. Most of my friends have grown to like my beardies as much as I have, but I've owned a lot more than just beardies.
I have owned beardies for almost a decade, but I have taken care of much more in my past. I try to help out rescues and bring them back to life, but unfortunately most were so malnourished that they didn't make it long. We don't have very many good reptile vets out here either so it was very hard to bring reptiles back after they have given up. I took in an iguana, chinese water dragon and even a crestie that were all sold to people who didn't know how to take care of them. All that being said, I currently have a 2 year old beardie named Flint that I adore and I'm looking to get a Uromastyx.
One of my good friends has a Uro and raves about how much he likes her. I have done about 5 hours of research so far and cannot wait to see what else is out there to learn.
If anyone has any species they would recommend to a moderately advanced reptile owner I would greatly appreciate it. I have noticed that most species of Uro either require a previous Uro owner or are easier to take care of. I'm looking for one in the middle of that road and would love some color as well if that's at all possible.
I just wanted to give a quick hello and say thank you for having this community. I've only just joined yesterday, but have already visited the site so many times it already feels like home!
Thank you again,
-Kristina
