    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How small is too small (personal gripe)

Hey ED?????
You never did cough up any proof of anything there fella. Why make wild outlandish claims if you refuse to at least attempt to back yourself up :shrug01:.

Anywho
Thanks for all the input from everybody on the age vs. weight and breeding. It was a good discussion.

I have a question though what do you do if you have a female that is both only 10 months old and only 276 grams but layed infertile eggs already on her own.

There's not much you can do in terms of making her "stop" so just continue with a higher protein diet, calcium supplementation and some good soaks. Make sure she is kept at her optimal weight for her age and length. Luckily my females never gave me infertile clutches and only laid eggs when bred.

Sorry i didn't mean that literaly like what do you do. i meant it in terms of the discussion going on on what is considered to small to breed.

I meant it more as she's cycling on her own at a young age. She her self is saying she's pretty much ready. Health wise thats on how she was cared for.

I myself like to breed my females till they reach almost 400 grams depending on length. But i have two this year that i didn't plan on breeding and they cycled on their own. Last year I had one but never bred her to a male.

It all depends I would suppose. personally i would allow the female to cycle the infertiles due to not being old enough and large enough to meet my standards for breeding. But i know that many will breed a female after she drops her first infertile clutch because that will stop her from producing infertiles. I just personally prefer to breed them no younger or smaller than 1.5 years old and 300+ grams
