In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How to scam ball python people...

To answer Eddie's question: Why have a thread about this topic.

For me, simple. Sometimes it is ok to shine the light where rats dwell, it sends them running and lets others know where they hide and how they live.

For the past 1.5 years I have been on Fauna (not long, but long enough). Every time I scroll down the forum options, guess what the number one active forum is? The BOI. I realize there is aspect of drama that lures people to hang out in the BOI, but there is also a bad taste in folks mouth for the less than ethical antics of certain individuals.

Why show step by step ways people scam others? To shine a light on their antics, misrepresentations and tricks that continually persist in classified ads.

Perhaps the next time when a new person sees these antics playing out they might take a moment to step back and think things through better. Most of these tricks are designed to play on someone's greed or the thought that they can get something wonderful for little or no effort.

Reputable breeders around here will have nothing to fear from a thread like this, in fact, I would expect just the opposite, they should welcome it! A thread like this only makes them look better and helps filter out the muddy waters of professionals and scammers.

The fact is everyone has seen this stuff in the ads, and I for one am sick of it and don't have to just sit here and do nothing about it, hence the thread.

Enjoy the thread and hopefully someone innocent out there just got saved some heartache and somewhere out there a scammer realizes people won't just sit by and do nothing.

Example ad: Normal female possible het. Ultramel bred to an Ultramel Banana. She definitely has something special going on in her pattern, but I need quick money so I'm willing to sell for $300 for a liver transplant. Oh, willing to trade also, I guess the liver transplant can wait a while if I get the right trade. Get her before shezzz gone!!

What is your favorite classified scheme??

Just wanted to see if this girl is still available???? What's shipping to 75110? Thanks Chris

Careful everyone...USPS Money order is actually the safest thing to send by far, since it would be a FELONY for me to scam you if you send me a money order from the post office for a product. (I no longer accept paypal, and not everyone likes Google Check out. So USPS Money orders are my way to go 90% of the time hehe)

Now Wells Fargo or any other form of money order or wire method....BAAAAAD

:iagree:

On mail order sales the only payment I accept are US Postal Money Orders,
it protects both the buyer and seller of scams.

Well said.

Im super worried to dive into the money order aspect of it all. I have had several people ask me if I would and I have always turned them down. I figure it will probably come to pass eventually, but, with me being such a small breeder, no reason to do something I feel kinda scared about. :) Im going to add a pic from my facebook news feed on here. Thought I would also post it on main ball python board as well since its kinda funny. Coming in my next post. :)

Heres the funny pic. I tried to post without any writing but stupid forum wouldnt let me so sorry you have to read through my ramble to get to the pic.

Rather than the long ramble (the system requires 5 characters), you should have taken a few seconds to edit the content (the s**t brown descriptor)

Chris, she is available. I realize I just sold her to someone else already, but whats the harm of selling her "twice" since I'm getting out of the biz and my reputation doesn't matter any ways??

Thanks Steve & Kevin. I am glad to see so many people have success with USPS money orders, perhaps the way to go.

Too much effort Shane to take 2 seconds in like turn to respond.:ack2:

Well said.
Thank you Jason. I hope the thread is looked at as "beneficial". I love keeping ball pythons. I love being involved in the Fauna community. This is one little way in my mind to help make it even better for all, minus the scammers.

Im going to add a pic from my facebook news feed on here. Thought I would also post it on main ball python board as well since its kinda funny. Coming in my next post. :)
Shantel, I actually laughed out loud!! Great picture, I think you highlighted most of the ones we normally (no pun intended) see.

You forgot that you are from Cameroon selling a panda ball for $800, but forget to pay the $$$ for the international vet paperwork so the animal will get held over in France, and a random shipping company that ends in @freemail.com will contact you about paying $2,599.99 in fees to get the animal safely home.

Great one Chad! That takes it out of the local scammer and goes big time international.

Harald, sorry about that. Gosh, Im just racking up my brownie points with you over the last couple days, arnt I? :) Anywho, the pic I actually did not make myself. Just something that was going around on facebook. I didnt even think about editing the bad word out of it because of that. Thanks for pointing it out. :)
