    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I feel i am being bullied

Thank you all for your comments, posts, and critisisms about my infraction. I'm not gonna let it bother me and I am gonna just let it go and try and abide by the rules as much as possible. I DO let things get to me easily, and When I feel attacked or take things wrong, I lash out. From now on, i just have to "take it with a grain of salt". Anyone who would like to continue in this post is still more than welcome because I like all of the comments and such, and i really do feel that getting it out there and getting the answers to your questions is best for all of us! I will even continue in the discussions/post also. Feedback welcome! Outside of that....if any of you want to befriend me, i am a newbie to the forum and would be more than happy to be friends with you and maybe do some business in the future as well...

David, if you find yourself in that situation, or notice posts like that, the best way for you to deal with it is to report the post(s) and let the moderation team address it. If you just jump in, you run the risk of getting hit with whatever may be coming.

Well, let me point out my perspective in this and see if it makes any sense.

Yeah, PMs are private, and so are emails, in that they really aren't public postings of someone's words. However, when a PM is issued, and an email that utilizes the resources of this site to be transmitted, then the sender is USING this site for the purpose of belittling or being derogatory towards another member, which pretty much puts THIS SITE right in the middle. So although someone can certainly use private correspondence with another member, they don't have carte blanche to say whatever they want to the detriment of the recipient. Actually it's quite unlikely that any member of staff would ever know about such private conversations, but certainly they are subject to the recipient forwarding them to whomever they please, and once that happens, they come right out of the realm of being "private".

So what it really all boils down to is that I do not want any facility or utility of this site to be used to attack another member. There has been far too much of that sort of crap around here in the past, and I've just had my fill of seeing it and insist that it stops. Let's face it, there are certainly people frequenting this site who would like nothing better than to throw a roadblock in front of it's growth. Chasing away members via private harassment is surely an excellent way to do that, and quite frankly, I am not going to allow them to be successful in that attempt.

Anyway, hope that helps a bit to explain my concerns with unbridled use of "private" functions on this site.
 
ok then. I have read all of the posts, including the 2 from webslave, and thatis all "gravy" as far as i'm concerned. So, Webslave- Is there a decrease in frequenters to the site lately and you are just especially cracking down, or just plain "rules are rules"??

It is my understanding there has been an increase in new member registrations as well as participation to where he (Webslave) had recently considered bringing on another moderator to help handle the increase in traffic here.

The number of posts made in July was nearly twice the number made in January. Cracking down on the rules is probably part of why that is happening; and the increase in volume makes it all the more important for us to do so, since more and more people are popping up that either don't familiarize themselves with the rules, or just think they can do what they want.
 
I think its a logical idea and concern.

Harlad had all right to do what he did. The issue and reason that the OP was given the infraction wasn't for using profanity in the PM's. But for not listening to his first warning and then using profanity in the PM's towards a MOD. If it would have been towards another member i don't think it would have been so drastic unless he went crazy and the other member complained of the issue.

But like The Big Meanie said it would be best to keep it off his site entirely. We all have personal emails, phone numbers, addresses, etc. so if we thought and needed to take it so far then we can act like adults in an even more private area.
 
It's one thing to enforce the rules.... but it's another to enforce it equally..... The central clique in this forum pretty much operates unchecked.... while the outsiders get reprimands for every little thing......

It has really turned me off of this forum... and I know of alot of people who feel the same as I do....

Anyway... I'm sure the mods will disagree... and probably don't care what I have to say.. because I'm not one of the fauna nucleus.... I may even get banned for this.... or someone will be trying to dig up old police records or dirt on me to post in the public forum...... LOL....

What does acting like adults have to do with cursing and name calling?
 
Marc - how about naming some members of this "central clique", so we can see whether their actions go unchecked. I'd be willing to bet that I've given most of them infractions if I saw something that merited it....and that includes some people that I consider personal friends. One thing you need to keep in mind is that, unless somebody chooses to make an issue of it, there is no public notification of infractions.

I've been here long enough.. .and Im active enough that he might have me inside that clique :shrug01:

But I will say this publically.... Harald has weiled his mod hammer on me... so no he doesnt just pick and choose. I broke the rules and Harald reinforced those rules.
 
I can see how some people might construe the group of older members who are all friends as being a "clique", but I personally wouldn't call it that and I speak as someone who HAS been on forums where there were definitely "cliques"... very stressful for something meant to be done in my off-time between school and work. But there's no real way of know if something has gone "unchecked" unless you are a mod yourself and can see their infraction points. For all you know the people you think are getting away with something may have double the points and have simply chosen not to mention it.
 
I haven't been here that long (less then a year) and I've got hit with infractions. Their is no "clique" there are people who post a lot (like Kevin and I) with ideals that appeal to the general population, but that doesn't mean we're in a "clique". Just post more Mark. If you're feeling left out its because you don't participate. I see you posting in the BOI, and you do have good points, and your karma shows for it.

Exactly...the thing is, the people mostly likely assumed to be in the clique don't complain about their infractions for the most part. They know where the line is, and say "Yup, I crossed it; so I deserved this :shrug01:" Chuck (Critical Bill) was a good example of this: he never batted an eye about an infraction...and I gave him many - often despite agreeing with, or ROLFMAO at, what he had said. As a matter of fact, I once spoke with Chuck about an infraction I had given him...and he told me that I was just doing my job, and that he would have lost a good deal of respect for me if I HADN'T given him an infraction for that post.

I don't know what you are refering to. Harold has given me infraction points as well. It's funny how you seem to run your mouth about stuff all the time about things you don't know about. Or how you post pics of a certain snake raid on the internet when you were told not to, but hey, you are perfect. Funny thing is, the people I know in LA, don't speak so highly of you.

If you are so big on fixing things that are messed up, why don't you start by looking in the mirror.

No offense (well, that's probably not true since I have zero tolerance for statements made which were made with little to no thinking at all) but you do not know what you are talking about. Do you want to see my list of infractions? Or am I not a "clique member"? I've been called a clique member from other "like minded" people like you who "think" there is a clique here.

This is a good forum, it always has been and I believe it always will be. It has evolved into a great place for information and is an irreplaceable tool for the whole reptile community. It is also a great place to make some friends. If you don't like it, go, no one is forcing you to stay. I believe there are a lot of other like minded people who would rather not hear your negativity towards this site and some of it members. Why don't you and your other like minded thinkers go and start your own site. I'm sure there wouldn't be any cliques forming there. :rolleyes:
