In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy I got ripped off! Lonnie Jacobs or fauna user lancehead1980

I did not ask for that, I want to return them for a full refund.

The ad states I bought 2 ornates for $500 and the mali's were free. Half of that (subtract cost for one sick animal) is $250

Other than being dehydrated, probably from shipping, I see nothing wrong...just a spine. You were saying a severe issue so maybe side view photos would show something? :shrug01:

i see a slightly under weight uro......get it some water, maybe soak it and give it something to eat. if its wild caught have it checked for internal parasites. but from the pics icant honestly see anything wrong. maybe its just me or the angles but im not seeing a major spinal issue.

Not all problems are easily photographed or we wouldn't need xray or mri machines. It is visible to the naked eye and can easily be felt. This animal has significant lumps on her back that the others do not - it's east to compare.

I am just posting my experience. Lonnie may be a great guy, this may be a one off I really don't know. I just know the animal I have has problems and I am stuck with that low quality animal for it's life - most likely incurring medical expenses for it. It would have been ideal if he would taken the lot back or replaced the animal or refund her purchase price. Anything would be nice at this point.

You can read the facts that don't match up (like how long he was a breeder) and determine if this someone you want to deal with, that's up the reader.

I would take it to the vet and pay the $40-50 for an exam. If it's deformed, he said he would refund you... if he doesn't keep his word, then he's a bad guy. If it check's out fine, an apology is in order. Problem solved?

I don't see it.

I haven't been able to read through everything yet but, I did get a chance to really look at all the pics you've posted. She is a little dehydrated which is to be expected from shipping but I see absolutely no spinal abnormality. She looks healthy to me.

Please take a look at post # 7 point # 6 where he says he was a boa breeder for 7 years.
Please see the email below where he says he was breeder tfor 5 years - this was just a couple weeks ago!

Mark,

Shipping is $46.00 via Fed-Ex overnight. To be completely honest with you on their lineage I'm not exactly sure. I was a boa breeder for 5 years and was ready for something new. I bought the Mali's directly from Doug Dix, they are from his Mali (Clown Line). As far as the Ornates, I called Lindsay Pike. I wasn't going to buy Ornates from anyone else. He has the best name in the business and he was the one I wanted to deal with. I told him exactly what I was looking for which of course he did not have. He called me back a few days later and told me he had sold exactly what I was looking for to a guy in Bradenton FL. and that guy was looking to sell them to make room for his Thomasi. Lindsay gave him my number and assured me that these 2 animals were captive born and that he (Lindsay) had produced them. The rest is history. I paid $700.00 shipped for the pair. The female has great color and could possibly be a male mimic. The Male is going to be special. When he is under the heat lamp and completely fired up his entire head turns turquoise and the base of his tail gets a really pretty royal blue. I took Lindsay's advice and I've housed the males and females together without any problems what so ever. Obviously they are a year apart and are completely unrelated. I do not know if any of the parents were captive born although I assume thats at least partly the case. $546.00 shipped.

Thanks

And let me know if you have any questions.

Actually, he says he was a boa breeder for 5 years... when he got the lizards. He doesn't say exactly how long he's had the lizards. If he's had them long enough, it would add up to about 7 years. And if he said he's been in boas and balls for 7 years, he could have been in balls first, adding time onto the overall time period he was in "boas and balls".

So technically... you haven't shown any "outright lie" about the 5 years vs 7 years. Not to mention, saying 5 years vs 7 years in something completely unrelated to whether the lizard is unhealthy or not isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for your side.

Several people have said the lizard only looks dehydrated(which is understandable after being shipped etc). You stated at first that the pictures showed what was wrong with her. So do they? Or do they not and only you can feel the "lumps"?

How long have you actually had possession of the lizards at this time? Have you actually soaked them(as several people here suggested)?

finally read it all

Ok, I was able to get through all of the emails.

Mark,

I have a few questions about some discrepancies in your story as well as some of the things you've posted.

First off a question was asked by wyldwurm:
Mark, I really don't see anything wrong with that lizard. Did you feed and water them?
Why were you asking for 300 dollars AND to keep the lizards?

And your answer was:
I did not ask for that, I want to return them for a full refund.

The ad states I bought 2 ornates for $500 and the mali's were free. Half of that (subtract cost for one sick animal) is $250

None of your statement is true. In your e-mail to Lancehead1980 you specifically wrote:

If you really don't want them back (which I can understand seeing her condition) I would accept a refund of $300. An adult pair of malis sold on fauna (the ad is still up) for $140 plus shipping (that is $200 total). Seeing as how that is not why I bought the group - it still does not make me real happy - I would prefer to be completely refunded and not have to deal with this at all.

So that would be lie #1.

And the next discrepancy is about the pictures you provided. You said in a post:

I know I am NOT A VET, but these photos surely show enough evidence to indicate that this uro is not healthy.

And then a few post later after a few people had given you their opinion, which obviously weren't the opinions you were looking for, you said:

Not all problems are easily photographed or we wouldn't need xray or mri machines. It is visible to the naked eye and can easily be felt. This animal has significant lumps on her back that the others do not - it's east to compare..

So......... which is it? do the photos surely show enough evidence or are you have trouble deciding if they do or not?

I would like to see the pics that Lancehead1980 sent you. Specifically the ones that are close up and in natural light. Can you Mark, post those pics or if Lancehead1980 could post those pics I'm sure everyone would love to see them. I'm inclined to agree with Wolfy-hound. The only hole is see are in your story, not his.

So other than it's spine being visible exactly what makes you think it is unhealthy? As stated here it just looks dehydrated. Is it eating? Is it active once you have it under some heat? What about soaking it? Did this alleviate the problem? How has it been acting the last few days you have had it? Does it seem paralyzed? These are questions I would ask myself before I started throwing terms like unhealthy and liar around.

It looks to me like the animal has spinal kinks. I would not be pleased with it either. I don't quite understand why shipping would dehydrate it either. If it was a well hydrated lizard prior to shipping and is packed properly there would be no reason for it to be dehydrated, unless it was all along. That's the way I see it anyway.

At first I thought it was a picture of a pretzel stuffed into a dead lizard......that lizard has got some serious issues.

The uro has been fed (though I have not witnessed it eating), soaked, and kept warm. It is quite inactive but that in itself is not necessarily over concerning as ornates tend to be that way.
I have a vet appointment for it tomorrow and will update everyone once the visit is complete.

pics as requested

these are two pics of the female ornate that I sent mark on august 5th, 2011

hmmm

she looks healthy to me. yes i can see her spine but as far as "severe spinal problems" i just dont see it. as far as i'm concerned she should fill out quite nicely with age. Mark, why are you dodging questions that some people are asking you and only answering the questions that suit you? and I do have to ask you, are these the actual pics you recieved from the seller?

I am 100% confident the vet x-ray and report will backup the OP's concern and validate that this condition did not develop overnight and the seller was fully aware of it......why else would he sell the animals for a loss?
