I agree with that. He traded for them, but hets have always been and IMO will always be a source of major concern in this industry. Less then trustworthy folks will use the "het" card to scam and then honest peeps will have one that does not prove on its first 2 attempts and be tagged a scammer.

For sure a double edged sword.

Let's see.... here is my policy on selling hets...

1) I don't sell them to ANYONE I don't know.
2) I only sell 100% guaranteed hets. Anything that would be a 50% or 66% het as sold strictly as whatever it's visible traits are.
3) I microchip them all.
4) If at any time a customer decides they don't want the animal, I'll buy it back for the original price, plus a feeding allowance.

Payment to be made after the snake has fed, and proved out healthy after a 30 day quarantine.

That is an incredible policy and awesome from an ehtics standpoint. I feel however that you are the exception and not the rule.

If you want to be in this hobby here are a few guidelines for you....

1) Avoid shopping online.
All the best animals are sold/traded amongst friends long before they ever become available to the general public.
The animals that are left after all the insider trading happens go to the reptile shows. Everything that's left get's sold online.
I'm not saying you still can't buy decent animals online, but the truly stellar examples are almost always long gone before the ads go online.

2) Find a mentor.
Long before I was breeding snakes of my own, I was scraping poop and taking bites for established breeders and herpetologists.
I have 6 apprentices that do exactly what I did as a kid.
My buddies 7 year old can visually sex balls and boas correctly 9 times out of 10.
A few hours a week in an established collection will get you much farther than 100 books or 1000 forum posts will ever take you in the hobby.

3)Spend money on gas.
You're profile says you live in NJ.
That means that you are within driving distance of Hamburg, White Plains, Melville, and at least 30 reputable breeders, not to mention all the shows in the mid-atlantic region.
See live snakes, evaluate them for yourself, and negotiate your own deals.

4)Get out and meet the players!
Daytona, Tinley, Anehiem.
If you want to be serious about the hobby, make it to at least one of these shows a year.

To more directly answer your question....

Trust the people you have met and developed your own opinions about.
Trust the people your mentor has been doing business with over the years.
Trust the people who's animals look the cleanest and the healthiest because you've seen them with your own two eyes.

Trust your own judgement, because you've taken the time to educate yourself, and you're comfortable with your own decisions!

aww.. just when you said that you had proof that she sent you a sick snake and now instead of defending your name and posting the proof you have you pull a typical scammer move by saying it is your last post and you are leaving fauna.

please.. you either have proof and WANT to have a good rep here OR you really don't care about your rep and you are just looking for people to swindle money and reptiles out of.

also i am pretty sure not everyone who has commented here breeds snakes and so they can't sell "trash snakes". so far about all you have shown is that you are keen to flip snakes to get what you want and bail here in the beginning of your breeding projects. however this thread is going to follow you and as time goes by even if you do not post here if you scam other people on other sites they just might come back and post about you again and this will be attached to whatever new alias you come by. this has happened time and time again and if you continue to bad mouth people, their reptiles and treat your customers like trash then it will turn around and bite you.

so go ahead and make that your last post, as long as you keep scamming people will keep posting. some people join fauna just to post a bad BOI while many others sell on multiple sites, the same sites that you would think about selling on.

Ok I just got done reading all this and all I can say is wow. Laura have you filed a report with the police? Also I have to ask, How old is this kid? He stated in the text that Laura put up that his dad was mailing the snake. Has any one attempted to track down the father and speak with him. Sometimes daddy can talk sense into a brick wall. lastly, Kid if your worried about getting screwed why dont you do this to save face. Im sure scott&becky would be willing to play middle man. You send the bee and Laura will send the black pastel. Scott can probe the black pastel and verify that it is the snake showen in the pics. If it is infact a male and matching the photos they can send you back the pastel. If it is a female they can send you the bee back and vouch for you. Scott& becky are well known here and if they say you were correct most people will believe you

Well I'm guessing this won't ever happen but we would be more than happy to assist in this situation and Randy doesn't have to send anything, we would be more than happy to drive the hour to his home and pick up the bee and also take the black pastel with us and probe it in front of him. So he wouldn't need to pay anything. I would go so far as to pay to return ship the bee back myself so that this situation could get some resolution.

Randy, if you read this here's my offer, if you want to make this right have Laura ship your black pastel to me and I will bring it to you and probe it in front of you. Then I can also pick up the bee and verify whether it appears to have an RI and you can show me the vet bill or we can speak to the vet personally to verify with him that he saw your bee and treated it for an RI. Then if the black pastel is yours and the bee needs to go back to Laura I will leave the black pastel and I will personally pay to return the bee. This way you have nothing spent out of pocket. I will even treat the RI if absolutely necessary we maintain baytril on hand.

This would allow for a restoration of your reputation and put this to bed. This site really is bigger than just "some reptile site" it's used by a huge amount of reptile enthusiasts and saving face here will help you immensely in the future.

Totally figures. If his writing skills are any reflection of his reading skills, maybe he is having a difficult time reading this thread. Not once has he defended himself. He threw the "she sent me a sick snake" card but has yet to provide any evidence of that. And he continues to avoid answering simple questions like "how did I end up with the snake you bought from Frank???"

Gosh I'm a 5'6 blonde and seem to have bigger balls than Randy.
