We make and sell reptile breeding racks and rat breeding racks and Randy contacted us to trade us a couple balls in exchange for a couple racks. We reached an agreement but as of the start of this thread we had not begun construction of anything for Randy.

Well, while we were unloading Saturday at the Columbus show we were talking to a few friends about this situation and found out that he has more than one sour deal in this area also. We have since decided that there is simply too much evidence pointing toward Randy being at fault in more than just this instance for us to work with him.

To Randy; I don't intend to offend but a word or two of advice... We are not new to reptiles but we are relatively new to breeding and one thing we have discovered is that this is a very tight knit family especially in this area. We are all friends as well as reptile enthusiasts and most of these guys will help you any way they can (as you saw when you contacted Bob Pitt who not only gave you some genetics help but also pointed you to a reputable breeder) but unfortunately for you that "family" can also bite you in the rear if you mistreat it. Building a name for yourself is essential to get into this hobby and this is definitely starting off on the wrong foot.

I'm not saying you are wrong or right but the fix to me seems simple, send the bee back and Laura will return your black pastel. Then this situation goes away.

Very well said Scott. It's bad enough that this has happend in the first place, then to add insult to injury by trying to reverse the blame (in at least 2 cases), then to "CALL OUT" men you have no clue to, and to finalize this great story, to tell people you "tight" with KNOWN people in the business.

Did you see any of his animals?
Shows are the time to do business, or establish a business relationship!
You can tell a lot more about someone face to face than you can reed in a forum.

I have been doing this for a long time! (Almost 40 years)
I rarely advertise.
I almost never sell online.
I have set up for selected shows in the northeast if I had animals I didn't want to hold back after my regulars were taken care of.

I never buy or trade from someone I haven't met in person!
I only buy or trade from people I know I will see at the next show, or I can visit them at there location.

Any of my apprentices can visually sex a ball python over 500 grams by tail shape alone. Popping/probing an adult ball python should be a reassurance, not a necessity.

A "breeder" who can't sex his own animals?
That should have been the only red flag needed to kill the deal.

It stinks that this happened, but it all could have (and should have) been avoided if the deal got canceled as soon as it started to look sketchy.

I'm not trying to sound overly p!ssy.
I'm just trying to re-enforce the (un-) common sense that should should come into play long before you ship anyone an animal.

Yea this guy is a real scumbag. He scammed a friend of mine (Brad Paine) out of a male enchi and a female yb for 2 supposed 2011 DH albino pied females. Brad couldn't get him to answer his phone so I thought I would do a little research on the guy come to find out he has 32 different charges anything from cocaine possesion to grand thest auto. I know a real piece of work. So anyway I get the guy on the phone asking him to do the right thing and return Brads animals and I get the basic scumbag answer f*** you and Brad then he hung up the phone. So I tried to text him a few days after that I told him I had his address I would bring his animals back and pick up Brads animals then he proceeds to threaten me telling me to meet him at the Columbus Ohio Reptile Show at 9am this past Saturday telling me what he was going to do to me. And anyone that knows me knows I'm a nice guy but I'm no pushover. So I told him I would be more than happy to meet him. I go to the show and was talking to a few of my friends there (vendors) and a few people walking by heard his name had a few stories about him themselves. But needless to say the little punk text me said ge was there so I went outside to meet him and he wasn't there told me that Brad wasn't getting his animals back. And I did the same and kept all his threatening text messages to post them I just haven't had the time. But stay away from this guy he's a crook and a sissy he will rob you blind.

It's mind boggling to me that ANYONE would buy a high end DH from NOBODY in the first place!

I agree with that. He traded for them, but hets have always been and IMO will always be a source of major concern in this industry. Less then trustworthy folks will use the "het" card to scam and then honest peeps will have one that does not prove on its first 2 attempts and be tagged a scammer.

For sure a double edged sword.

So it stands to reason that you are in possession of not only a teleportation device, but also a cloning mechanism. Please contact me ASAP with details on how you acquired this equipment; together we can make millions!

A buddy bought a 100% HET albino.....
Raised it up and bred it twice.....
Both times all W/T hatchlings.
After he badmouthed the seller all over the place, he sold it to a breeder friend of mine for $100 as a big normal female.

That friend got 6 albinos out of an 8 egg clutch when he bred it to his albino male.

Why don't people realize that a punnet square is a probability tool....

BTW I told him I knew his address and he told me he moved about a month ago. Im not going to bother posting all his messages but man its one lie after the next. He said hes using anoher screen name so for gods sake people do some research before you buy from people.

With all due respect....I live in SW FL....about 3 hours from anywhere. 3 hours to Miami, 3 hours to Orando, 3 hours to Tampa...6 hours to Daytona....it is just not realistic to expect me to not buy animals unless I go to a show or go meet the person. I mean really? Granted I did travel 3 1/2 hours over to the West Palm area to meet Mike Bell to pick up snakes from him. And I have traveled 3 hours to Lakeland and Port St. Lucie to meet people and buy their snakes. But really...there is no one around me that sells morphs (and the very few that are on craigslist are spiders and pastels). The only way for me to excel and grow in this hobby is to purchase online. I did go to the Tampa show last month and not only did I find nothing that I needed for my collection, but everything was VERY expensive and in my opinion over-priced. And just because you go to a show does not mean everyone there is reputable....as we all know Randy goes to shows all the time. Granted I may have been able to sex the snake myself to see that it was a male. But just because you shake hands with a breeder and pop the snake doesn't mean it is a good eater or a good breeder or a het or whatever.

I did the best I could...I did searches for Randy and the only thread that was available was the one on fauna (the other thread) and people went to his defense and said that there was no proof he was a bad seller. SO........what was I supposed to do?? I had NO IDEA that he couldn't sex a snake! He told me the snake was popped AND probed by TWO people...so....you're telling me I was wrong for believing him?

I have bought 12 snakes off of fauna from 4 different sellers (Paige, Gabrielle, MichaelUstler, and Greg (mydumname) and ALL 12 snakes were PERFECT. So for me personally, buying online is really one of the only ways that I can go about adding to my collection.

And just to add....for us newbies....hets are necessary to climb the breeding ladder. I dunno about anyone else but I saved up months to be able to buy my Pied male and my Albino female. I actually am making payments on a pair of double hets from a reputable breeder right now. Sometimes in order to be successful you just have to trust people. I am by NO means saying trusting Randy was wrong....but I am saying i did because, why shouldn't I have? I had no idea he didn't know how to sex a snake. I had no idea he was going to send me a completely different snake than advertised. Which is why I am exposing him. No one else had proof that he had scammed before. Well now there is proof.

But this doesn't mean I am not going to every trade or buy from anyone ever again. This could happen again tomorrow. In fact I almost got scammed by that unlimitedfeeders 2 weeks ago!! But again, I have had 4 transactions on fauna that have been very positive so....the good still outweighs the bad for me. Even though this has been a royal PITA and probably takes the cake for scam stories (seriously, give me some credit, I couldn't make this stuff up!!!)

OMG I know right??? I either have a teleporting snake....OR...........I have a TRUE TWIN to the snake Frank sold Randy.....maybe someone should go buy the 'real' black pastel male that Frank had off Randy and we could have REAL LIFE IDENTICAL TWIN SNAKES!!!


Or......I was thinking......there IS that SLIM possibility that someone at Fedex in Memphis, TN opened the box and switched the snakes Nah I think the teleporting snake idea fits the best.

Yep, that's Randy's cell phone number. Man he just doesn't know when to shut his mouth. I hope someone can do some detective work and find out what his new name is on fauna and keep him exposed. I really would hate to think anyone else would get scammed by him. Of course everyone reading this is aware but there are so many newbies out there that have no idea.

figuring out might be easy to guess who he is.. though by putting it here it may give other scammers ideas as to how to cheat further more.. it is unfortunate that he seems to have no qualms what so ever when it comes to habitually scamming people. i would say his peers in the reptile world but he has sunk so low that he has very few peers, all of which are proven scammers.

anyways i think you should go ahead and press charges. besides losing potential customers, i think that might be the only way he will get what he deserves. who knows, maybe down the line he will be on the other end of the stick though i don't think that teach him anything.

good luck however you choose to approach this and i hope in the end he is going to be banned, in general.
