I did read the initial post. If the animal is a 02, that makes her three this year. Yes it is possible that she could be bred, but she is still young, and you cant call her a Dud just yet. I have an 02 female BCI, she didn't take for me this year either. Is she a dud?
While you may have read the first post, you must have missed the supporting facts that followed. While 3 years old is young, a 7.5 ft boa should have very little trouble producing a litter at that age.
It was found out AFTER the fact that she was actually used for breeding in 04 as well, with the same outcome. Power feeding a boa to achieve breeding size at 3 years is bad enough, but trying to use her at 2 years is insane, especially when she doesn't get time off before another attempt is made the following year.I know it wasn't Ian that tried to breed her that young, because he hasn't even had her 2 months yet. However, Joe wasn't buying the animal from anyone except Ian, and it is Ians responsibility as a "good businessman" to share this information. None of this was brought up before the deal at all. In the middle it came up that she "may" be gravid, and it turned out she wasn't. That was enough to back out. Only AFTER Joe backed out of the deal was information found that shows she has a history of 2 false pregnancies, at only 3 years old. It is me belief that that animal is ruined, but if anyone would like to prove me wrong, it will only cost you 4k, an entire breeding season, and the price of whatever male you use to do it.
Again , Joe was not buying an 02 animal that had 2 bad breeding seasons in a row, one that just ended 2 weeks ago.
He was buying a 7.5 ft, 3 year old, ready to breed NOW animal.
A virgin 7.5 ft female, or just a 7.5 ft three year old that just didn't take this year would have been a prime candidate.
