Some info about our product.
I own the company Roylance Rack Systems. I have kept and bred Boas, Pythons and Colubrids for about 15 years. I have always used racks for my smaller animals, but as we all know, its next to impossible to find commercially available tubs for larger Reptiles. I wanted some F.B. racks since the first time I saw them, but I did not think they were worth the money that they were asking for them. I searched for the right sized tubs for about 3 years, only to come up empty handed time after time. One day I happened to run into a local plastic fabricator and he told me that he would be more than happy to vacuum for the tubs for me.
Now that I had the hard part over with, I started re-designing the basic F.B. layout to fit my needs. I made the frames the proper size to be accepted by FedEx ground, delivery and I tried to fix the problems that I had seen in other products. For example, we use 1/4 sheets of ABS to form our tubs, so there are not any thin spots in the bottom and it also makes the front edge VERY ridged. We also use one of the best 3 stage powder coat process that is available, it is one of the few powder coat process that is approved by the U.S. government!! It cost about three times more than your average powder coat, but when you see it in person, you understand why. We also powder coat all the sheet metal parts that are used as reinforcement on the 4 foot tubs. It costs us a little more to do it but it make a world of difference to the looks of the unit. The list of changes goes on, but I wont get into all of them here.
We are also within a couple weeks before we trade out the traditional heat tape panel for radiant heat panels. Once again this will cure one of the problems that occur with other companies units,, the flex watt, heat panels can cause a good electrical shock if they are used in conjunction with a steel framed rack, if they are not properly grounded. This problem is caused by the heat tape inducing voltage into the rack itself. It is a harmless shock, but not a pleasant experience in my mind. I have talked with electrical engineers and people in the heating industry and this problem is un-curable, unless you ground the heat pan and send the voltage straight to the ground rod. Radiant heat is the preferred way to create a thermal gradient, as it acts more like the way the sun heats the earth!! Most zoos and labs use radiant heat, but it is much more costly that the more traditional
ways that most herpers use to heat their reptiles.. The addition of this heat source will not affect our pricing at all..
I take pride in producing the best products that I possible can, whether its a snake rack or a snake. I pay attention to the quality of the product as well as the small things that others often overlook.
I feel that we have taken a good product and made it even better (and cheaper)!! We are here to stay and I hope you all will give our product a try someday, as I know you will feel the same as we do about our racks.. We have already shipped several units, so if you would like a list of people that are using them, I would be happy to supply it if you drop me an e-mail..
Thanks for your time,
Jon Roylance
