In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

While researching the options out there for caging, I ran across this couple:

www.snakeracks.com
Jon & Staci Roylance
Salt Lake City, Utah
801-446-5451

The racks they sell are almost identical to Freedom Breeder racks - from the pics I saw anyway, just a few minor differences. The major difference is cost - these are much more affordable but they don't offer as many size options.

Has anyone out there bought one of these rack systems or dealt with this couple? Any comments?

Dianne

I looked at them, but to be frank, there's too many cages that are much more affordable.

as far as the cages...you are right. It is almost the same except for a few minor changes.

This (I think) is one of those instances where someone found a way to make the same mouse trap.....except they found a way to make it cheaper.....
OR
They found that the other people were just charging too much..

Example
Some of the racks I have are almost identical to others in my colleciton.......
except for one thing....
PRICE.

Some info about our product.

I own the company Roylance Rack Systems. I have kept and bred Boas, Pythons and Colubrids for about 15 years. I have always used racks for my smaller animals, but as we all know, its next to impossible to find commercially available tubs for larger Reptiles. I wanted some F.B. racks since the first time I saw them, but I did not think they were worth the money that they were asking for them. I searched for the right sized tubs for about 3 years, only to come up empty handed time after time. One day I happened to run into a local plastic fabricator and he told me that he would be more than happy to vacuum for the tubs for me.

Now that I had the hard part over with, I started re-designing the basic F.B. layout to fit my needs. I made the frames the proper size to be accepted by FedEx ground, delivery and I tried to fix the problems that I had seen in other products. For example, we use 1/4 sheets of ABS to form our tubs, so there are not any thin spots in the bottom and it also makes the front edge VERY ridged. We also use one of the best 3 stage powder coat process that is available, it is one of the few powder coat process that is approved by the U.S. government!! It cost about three times more than your average powder coat, but when you see it in person, you understand why. We also powder coat all the sheet metal parts that are used as reinforcement on the 4 foot tubs. It costs us a little more to do it but it make a world of difference to the looks of the unit. The list of changes goes on, but I wont get into all of them here.

We are also within a couple weeks before we trade out the traditional heat tape panel for radiant heat panels. Once again this will cure one of the problems that occur with other companies units,, the flex watt, heat panels can cause a good electrical shock if they are used in conjunction with a steel framed rack, if they are not properly grounded. This problem is caused by the heat tape inducing voltage into the rack itself. It is a harmless shock, but not a pleasant experience in my mind. I have talked with electrical engineers and people in the heating industry and this problem is un-curable, unless you ground the heat pan and send the voltage straight to the ground rod. Radiant heat is the preferred way to create a thermal gradient, as it acts more like the way the sun heats the earth!! Most zoos and labs use radiant heat, but it is much more costly that the more traditional
ways that most herpers use to heat their reptiles.. The addition of this heat source will not affect our pricing at all..

I take pride in producing the best products that I possible can, whether its a snake rack or a snake. I pay attention to the quality of the product as well as the small things that others often overlook.

I feel that we have taken a good product and made it even better (and cheaper)!! We are here to stay and I hope you all will give our product a try someday, as I know you will feel the same as we do about our racks.. We have already shipped several units, so if you would like a list of people that are using them, I would be happy to supply it if you drop me an e-mail..

Thanks for your time,
Jon Roylance

Thanks for your reply, Jon.

In a thread on KS's boa forum, I saw a comment by Jeremy Stone saying how much he liked the rack system he got from you. Between that and what you've posted here, I'm sold on them. As I'm sure you understand, it pays in this day and age to research everyone/everything first. I'm not purchasing just yet (need to get the funds together first) but have been researching options for the larger rack and cage systems. All of my animals are kept in the living areas of my home (20 snakes as of right now), no dedicated snake room. I've been looking for other options to consolidate my collection yet still provide them with an optimum environment. Hence the rack system research. :)

Again, many thanks! And I've got your site bookmarked. :D

To John

I'm glad you replied to the inquiry. I have been considering some racks. I like the look of FB racks but have never owned one. I have been looking into your product. I know quality costs. I have quite a bit of experience in quality caging and powder coating differences in large Parrot caging. I sell a quality parrot cage line along with some of my babies. I will only sell what I would buy myself. I will be contacting you.

Hey Jon,
I hope you know that when I said Cheaper.
I only meant price wise. I did not mean quality wise.
I can't make any comments on quality until I obtain a couple.
So excuse if I made it sound like anything else but pricewise

Ritchie
I did not take any offence to you post, I know what you meant.
I just figured I should let everybody know a little bit about our product since it came up as a subject on this board.

Dianne and Mike.

Thanks, and I'm glad I was able to help. And to Dianne, you can never go wrong by checking up on somebody!! I think you should always cover your bases, and this is the perfect place to do it.
