I received a small bite from a Echis coloratus. All is well, just a bit sore
of a left arm now and things have been going slowly.

Didn't I see a photo of that alleged bite on his finger?

on that page there is a phoe of his alleged bite from an Echis coloratus and my verifiable bite from a neonate Echis carinatus (also pictured)
just for comparison, believe me, I am not in any way "bragging" about my bite, I got EXTREMELY lucky and I went to the hospital and had the Venom One Officers on the phone the entire time anything was going on.

Dr Owen's, I have never heard of a single person going to jail over cashing in money orders. Have you? It is certainly not an frequent occurance in the herp trade.

Perhaps you missed the point...if you accept (and cash) a United States Postal Service money order, and then defraud the customer of the goods that they were purchasing, then it is a federal crime. It doesn't matter what "trade" you're in.

Before you accuse anyone of mail fraud, I would be a bit more careful with those types of accusations. Nothing has been proven to point a finger of guilt at Justyn. Are you asserting that Justyn perpetuated a fraud by deliberetly taking money via the post office through a postal money order with the INTENT to defraud the buyer. Am I reading this correctly?

Give me a break. It doesn't matter if he intended to defraud these people or not. He has, and did. Accepting federally guaranteed (USPS - a federal agency) funds (by mail no less), and then refusing to deliver the goods purchased is mail fraud.

Why should I be careful? You can't sue someone for libel if it's true.

Actually Echis are not Pitvipers, they are True Vipers.
My bite occured from a neonate I was forcefeeding and he got a single fang in my left thumb. The initial pain was pretty intense, like a hot needle going in my finger. However other than localized pain and swelling at the location of the bite I had no other physichal symptoms, I had no swelling, no blistering (other than at the bite location). However, my blood was effected. My levels were as if I had overdosed on a bloodthinner (very typical of Echis sp. envenomations). I recieved 2 vials of the SAIMR Echis Monovalent which is the reccomended dose for a mild to severe bite. I spent about 48 hours in ICU and another 24 under observation because of the fact that if I were to cut or injur myself the risk of bleeding out was severe. You can compare the pictures of my bite to that of Justyn's and see the size of the snake that bit me also pictured on the same post. I'm not saying for sure if he did or did not recieve a bite, however, anyone who knows anything about the venom properties of Echis sp. would have themselves to a hospital ASAP or sooner.

You can force bankruptcy proceedings, you can hire an attorney to sue him in his home state, and of course the attorney generals office in his state if you feel their was an intent to defraud. He (Justyn) I am sure is personally liable, and cannot fall back on a corp. so the avenues are their which can yield better results then filing a claim with the federal govt.

It just depends on how far you want to go with it.

i do not think that will do much considering the bankruptcy laws in the state of texas. i personally do not think he has any true assets, if that is the case the isnt going to lose a thing. he actually will be better off after the bankruptcy. you would be better off filing a lien against him, however if he files for bankruptcy the lien will be worthless. if you file a lien against him and he files for bankruptcy you will end up having to contest the bankruptcy.

Suffice it to say, if you get tagged on the finger, your arm will swell up and become sore.

You may, or may not keep your finger.

Hey Jim....I believe Justyn said something earlier in the thread that his pond business was slow and had just started picking up again and that he had some jobs he was involved with now or just starting. I guess it could be a safe speculation that while his pond business was not doing so well the past few months that perhaps the deposit money that came in was for the dual purpose of supporting his family and securing a shipment or two.

I don't want to get into a debate about Echis envenomation as that is not the subject at hand, but they usually do have a good deal of swelling and tissue damage. The extent of the localized effects depend on the degree of envenomation.

Eric, you were lucky that you had as mild of an envenomation as you did (at least it appears that it was very mild based on your description).

The thing is he had been telling me his pond business was doing well.
He had told me he was having trouble shipping & mailing items out because he was working so late every night.
Its just more lies.
