In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Intense Herpetoculture - Any feedback?

Oh dont forget the Magazine articles deadlines that he has, and the whole HB 1309 bit that he was oh so working hard on for the past whatever period of time.

And the picture of Justyn's finger.. It looks like a freaking bruise. No puncture or anything, if in FACT he did get envenomated, but to be honest it looks nothing more than a "pinch" that one would recieve from working with stone and concrete blocks used to make ponds... That's just my opinion, and im not saying that Justyn in fact get envenomated.. Just his story and the picture itself doesnt seem right.

hmm.. I just noticed something. Justyn didnt say how big the echis was that bit him, or did I miss that part?

Well I didn't read much of this thread, and I have been told a lot of people are not happy, but I thought I would tell of my dealings with Justyn.

I received 1.2 of the Caiman Lizards from his last shipment.
I was unsure if he was legit, and if it was possible for him to actually get them in, but he did come through.
When I opened the box, they all looked great, but one of the females had a small bump on her tail. I told Justyn I was concerned it was an infection, and he told me to pull it off. He thought it was stuck shed. When I did, it oozed pus.
After telling this to Justyn, he said I could send her back, and he would send me another female.
I sent her back a few days later, and he told me he was sorry, and he would ship out another female ASAP.
That night I received an e-mail with a tracking #.
The next day, the new female came, and she was beautiful.
He proved to be a man of his word, and came through with some beautiful animals.

I can believe that, it seems up until this point he has been honest. I did see an ad for the Caiman Lizards but the ad also had pictures if I remember correctly. Out of curiosity when did this deal take place?

As of right now, none of us have heard from Justyn since the 23rd where he said he wanted to know if the money orders were recieved and if not he would take care of it by any means necessary ASAP, but of course nothing has been done.
He owes over $3k in refunds right now and has basicly dissapeared.

Caiman lizards

As I recall from the ads on Kingsnake the caiman lizards were over $2k each. Selling a trio would cover what we're owed and more, right?
Oh, about the echis. I spoke to him the day after he was bitten. He said it was just a small one, and that he just couldn't bend his arm.

I think thats a fair opinion of what may have actually happened. It doesn't look like anything more then a finger getting pinched under or between something.

Hey Doc J, its been mentioned that a bite of this species causes blood to thin, if this is a an actual bite would it be normal for clotting to appear like that under the skin? I mean if it was a puncture wound wouldn't it flow and then just stop after treatment set in?

The thing is he had been telling me his pond business was doing well.
He had told me he was having trouble shipping & mailing items out because he was working so late every night.
Its just more lies.

If you think about it, how late can a person work on a pond? Would a home owner really want a pond guy digging and banging rocks around all hours of the night into the wee hours of the morning? This type of manual labor is a bit noisy I would imagine? Is it a truly matter of emergency that a pond be installed even by the cover of darkness? Does he use flood lights so he can see what he's doing in the dark? Would a home owner really want flood lights blasting in their backyard till 3am?

I asked myself these questions because its not like he's digging a hole to repair an emergency, like lets say, a water main break. I just cant see the emergency in digging throughout the evening to get a freaking pond installed. Is there a record in the guiness book of world records for fastest pond ever built that he's trying to beat or something?

So yeah...I think its safe to say its all a bunch of stories.

it is my understanding that echis venom is a procoagulant, so like in eric's picture of his bite, you can see the substantial amount of blood clotting and the blister is tje site where Eric got stabbed by the fang.

That's a bit misleading. While it does cause fibrinogen to convert to fibrin (a man component of clots) the net effect is consumption of fibrinogen leaving one vulnerable to bleeding. Generally fibrinogen levels are zero or near zero after an Echis envenomation. Only during the very acute phase would intravascular clotting occur as fibrinogen is being converted and consumed. Protein C, a naturally occuring anticoagulant, is also activated by the venom, which likely worsens the coagulopathy.

What????????????? Come on man.....talk to me like I was small child and stop messing around with me. lol.

And what the hell was that about consuming protien c...? lol. I gotta do something like that if I get bit by an echris? fug no way.

LOL, the question was asked. No, it consumes fibrinogen and activates Protein C. Both of those actions have the net effect of promoting bleeding.

I would expect to see excessive bleeding from the bite site, and from any sites where blood was drawn or an IV inserted.

Don't dumb it down on my account, I always enjoy a good learning opportunity. websters.com is only a google search away for any of the "big words"!

That may be, mr. frank, because you left the 4th "n" out of it.
