In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is the Fall From Grace fatal to the Good Guy Certs?

What do you think...?

And that Bill, is exactly why Rich changed it back to paid members only though I am curious about what you mean by "ABUSED"? Do you not think that you deserved those "Bad Guy" votes?

Even if the 4 Bill mentioned were eliminated there is still 25% voting good guy and 75% voting bad guy.

I wonder if everybody who had voted good guy is aware that they can change their vote?

Bill.

As Rich said, that topic is covered ad nauseum on this thread. But I will briefly rehash it again, here goes:

When Rich took his brief sabbatical he rolled back some changes he had made to the site including the "pay to play" requirement for posting in the BOI and voting in GGC polls. Upon his return, and seeing this thread and the other one about you in the BOI he saw potential for abuse and returned the GGC poll voting privileges to verified (paid) members only. I don't believe that this was to suit the needs of anything but what he saw as the best interest of this site and that program though of course his motives have been questioned.

Considering what you pulled Bill, Thou dost protest toooooooo loudly. Let me ask you this on that.........What way would YOU vote on yourself Bill?......Good guy or bad guy.

On a side note It should read

"I have fallen, and I can't get up!" (At least not in the foreseeable future.)

Ohhhhh............I think its on topic......How would you vote given the choices Good guy. Bad guy.
Mr Black personally I would wait to see what the out come was but, You on your High Plain seeing the future see It all Huh ? :)

Gee wiz Bill....I havn't seen anyone round these parts wait to "See outcomes" when any other scammer is caught red handed. Why should you be any different?.......besides....there was already an outcome!....the drama unfolded and you got busted.

Back to the topic at hand. The Good Guy/Bad Guy certification seems to be a tool used by sellers increase a buyers confidence in feeling safe making a transaction with the seller. Its also a tool used by the buyer in selecting a seller
he/she may stand an increased chance of not getting robbed by (although this is NO GUARANTEE!)

This system is of course open to some abuse, such as friends and or enemies/competitors of the seller voting one way or another based on biases not related to the sellers business practices. On the whole though, I don't think this will be the case, and the true colors of a seller will be well represented by his/her overall vote tally.

In a case like yours Bill, where the whole mess was trotted out in public for all to see the evidence and your admission, those who voted did so with confidence in the fact that you are not someone they or anyone else would be wise to deal with.

:>off_to<: Mr Black, 2 in one week got to admit Im amazed out of everything you have ever written ever, you got me to agree with you Twice :) No easy thing there.you still have 2 more days can you do it again???

Mr Black,If your reading skills are anywhere near sharp You would Know that on that other thread I was asked to stop posting....And I did that. "There". Humble Pie. Its still there... Me Being gone from this site That wont happen... and trying to make my way back "Time" will tell.

Being as this is Sat, I think, you've got two days left in this week in which we presently find ourselves.

On to another note.

The good guy certification is pretty simple and really doesn't matter whether or not if it's limited to people you've done business with or not. The fact that it does NOT rely only on replies from actual business transactions does make it somewhat more difficult for someone considering a business transaction in that THEY must discern whether or not the folks voting for or against you should be trusted or believed.

Let me give you an example. Here are all the dumbasses voting that I am a bad guy. Note the caliber or person they are and the quality they have brought to this site. Am I worried that ANYONE looking into ANY of them would get the impression that I ACTUALLY am a bad guy? I'll give my patented answer just as soon as I get my throat properly cleared, pardon me a moment.

mi mi mi la la la harumph harumph rrrrrrrr rrrrrrrr mi mi mi ahhhh, there we go

AHAHAHAHahahhahahahahahahahaHHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHahahAHAHAHAHahahAHAHAHAHahahahaHaHHHHahaHAHAHHahaHahAHHahahaH

Bad guy

Voters: 25.

Folks have to be smart enough to check on WHO is for or against whomever they are checking on.

IF you believe everything you read at face value then there is MUCH of which you are blissfully, I hope, unaware.

Look at who and what THEN make your decision.

Yea.......thats EXACTLY what I was getting at......you know.......someone with my "Intellect" and all.
:no01:

I still haven't decided which of the two poll answers better fits... IMO it hasn't changed, and it has done its job (and will continue to do so.)

I think a little common sense should be applied here. The purpose of the GGC is clear. If we know Jeffrey Dahmer killed and ate some of his neighbors, just because he didn't kill and eat me personally, it doesn't make him NOT a bad guy. It also doesn't mean that people on the jury at his trial should vote "not guilty" just because they were not murdered by him.

As far as the rule changes, if it has an intended purpose and that purpose is not being served because of flaws in the rules, the obvious answer is to change the rules. Again, let's use some common sense.

I'd "red-dot" this one too but I'm afraid that you'd be :bawling: all weekend. There was no "frenzy". If I would have thought that you deserved more reason than the obvious one I would have given one, but since you have asked, here goes. I think Dennis answered it well and even slackass with whom I might tend to disagree with about a great many things hit the nail on the head. Putting this at the end of a thread really did no good but draw attention to yourself and was nothing but a thinly veiled attack. Want to go toe to toe, I'm there, but don't try to justify it as being something more noble than it is.
As far as this goes, I don't care what you think of me, Jim. Not even one tiny bit. You have made yourself crystal clear. What you've shown is you believe that the moment you are done with your off-topic argument, that is the end of the thread and nobody else is allowed to post. Obviously this thread had plenty more life in it, as evidenced by the continued posting...

The why did you whine about Rep Points in the first place? And why keep responding? Isn't this a case of Queen Gertrude saying "The lady doth protest too much, methinks"?
