In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

That is not a compliment to them
I've spent the ENTIRE day since 9AM waiting for a package that had to be signed for(not critters thank God)
About an hour ago I called customer service, apparently the driver knocked off early today and told Fedex it was because of weather conditions. Lie.

It has been beautiful here and in nearby towns, I did yard work for several hours while waiting. Perhaps the 'weather' meant that is was so nice that he wanted to go fishing.

I'm trying to resist the impulse to generalize this one event but right now I think Fedex sucks.

I've been Fedexed.

Sounds to me it's the individual driver, and not some company policy at fault here.

File an official complaint with FedEx. Those drivers are rated on such things and can lose their job.

You would think the company would want to make amends by having the package delivered first thing. Nope. They sort of shrugged it off "We'll make a note" and told me the package would probably be delivered sometime today, they could not say when. They did call the contractor (I'm thinking non Fedex employees make deliveries?) and was told that the contractor would "make a note." Lots of notes. No delivered package.

As far as I'm concerned, Fedex sucks.

Fortuitously, the package just arrived, the driver was sweet and helpful. I guess what you get with Fedex is the luck of the draw, wish I had drawn this one yesterday.

During this time of year, I believe all the carriers hire on extra help to handle the increased workload. So pretty much it's going to be the luck of the draw no matter who is shipping your packages.

Heck, Connie shipped out a half dozen packages Monday before last, using 2 day service via USPS and they ALL were late getting to their destinations. By several days. And 4 of them were damaged in transit, but the contents seemed OK.

Back when I had my reptile business, I just curtailed shipping from the beginning of December thru the first week of January. This is NOT a good time of year to be shipping live animals.

You know what, you are probably right. It isn't Fedex, it was just that one guy who looks like he just blew off my delivery yesterday.
It is extremely stressful and exhausting to wait for deliveries that have to be signed for because of my hearing impairment, I have to try to see them coming because I cannot hear them knocking on the door most of the time.
Next time I'm just going to pick up a Fedex package that needs to be signed for at the local office.

I had a DHL driver fail to deliver a shipment of crickets and he reported that he tried and no one was home at 5 o'clock when he tried to deliver them. Of course when I pointed out that I was a business and I was open until 6 he admitted that he was running late and didn't want to make the trip as it was out of his way so he made up the story about no one being home. The thing is he had delivered my crickets pretty much every week for the previous 6 months. One of the DHL hub managers was waiting at my store with my crickets at 11 AM the next morning with a huge apology. I think I had my crickets by 4 every Friday after that and the driver was really nice to me from then on.

I once had a package sent to my work. I looked at tracking and it had on there buisness closed for day. I work at a police Dept. I called and package was delivered in 30 min.

I must admit, this works with energency rooms too!

LOT of contract drivers this time of year. The whole month of December is definitely overwhelming for UPS, FEDEX, USPS etc. and a tough month to ship, not counting weather issues on top of it.

I got an email from Fedex, they blew me off too. Essentially they said that I got the package so what that I had to wait a day and a half.

Fedexed.

Pretty peeved with FedEx right now too. Supposed to leave in the morning for a long drive west to see the folks for the holidays, just waiting on them to deliver a warranty replacement cell phone. Only thing keeping me here. Delivery exception just popped up, even though I was home. I've now been on hold for 22 minutes... snooze.

I just don't see what use a tracking number is, if one of their drivers decides to just fib about the weather and go home early.
It was a stressfull 12 hours the first day. I asked them to make it up to me with a gift certificate, I thought maybe they might spring for a gallon of Blue Bell ice cream. They said Oh noooo, we don't do that.
Fine. So I'm gonna talk about it until it is talked out of my system, that could be a while. Maybe by next year 'Fedexed' will be one of those new fangled words, you know, like twerking.

Haha maybe. I just hung up and sent an email, can't deal with this anymore. I got through, gave the tracking number, and the guy asked me to hold while he contacted the office. Another 5 minutes go by, the phone starts ringing, and some lady at a fedex print center somewhere in the world picks up the phone. She doesn't deal with tracking or shipping or anything, just copies.
Guess where she transfers me?
Back into the original que.
Ah!

I guess the problem is that there just isn't enough competition in that business to matter to them. Seriously, who do you have to choose from? FedEx, UPS, and USPS. That's it. So apparently they have made a pact to try hard to be just as bad at what they do as the other two to level the playing field.

I have SERIOUSLY cussed out all three of them one or more times in the past. But I will have to admit that I still hold a major grudge against UPS compared to the other two. But some companies only ship via that method, so I just have to grit my teeth when the big brown truck pulls into the driveway.

But what are you going to do? Just stop shipping and receiving merchandise completely because they will suffer from major suckiness now and again? Maybe some of you living in large metropolitan areas where you can find most stuff you want locally can do that, but that just is not an option out here in the boonies.

I think the best term I have ever heard used to describe them is "FedUps".... Pretty much nails it.

The best term I've heard used was for DHL: "D*ck Hugging Losers" Not the best of reputations among large shippers for sure, the last time someone sent me something via DHL was in '02; they didn't even knock.

At least here on the East Coast we get to ship against the time zones, gaining up to three hours depending on how far west a package is traveling.

But what are you going to do?

You are right, we can't stop using their services. But neither do we have to settle for second rate service when we pay first rate money.

I feel as if I am a reasonable person. If there had been a truck breakdown or if there had in fact been poor weather anywhere in the area, I would have just chalked it up to the fact that sometimes, stuff happens.

But that's not what happened.

And their attitude and email did not help.
When I pay good money, I don't expect to get Fedexed.

Yeah they do hire contractors. Much like a lot of post office's do, people bid for the jobs.. with the lowest bid person getting the job. Occasionally our work place was having stuff delivered by a contractor due to heavy seasonal loads. It's been several years (so things might have changed since then), but if I remember the conversation correctly he was getting paid $1 per delivery. And by delivery that meant per address so... if you have 50 packages being delivered to 1 address... that's only $1 in pay. Shopping center's sucked he said because of that because the center had one overall address even though there are several businesses there. The best routes were residential deliveries. Those with routes involving a lot of business's drivers try to empty their truck as fast as they can and then reload to go back out to deliver before it gets too late in the evening.

So, did those contractors get paid for only *attempted* deliveries as well?
