In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Jeff and Christina Wise (Wise Reptiles) Stole Money from Benefit Auctions for Maggie

Just a suggestion, but would it be better to conduct any future auctions held to benefit a group or individual through the Staff of the site?
The conductor of such auctions should be a well known reputable member of the site? I believe I would also require the paypal account go directly to the beneficiary(ies).

A behind the scenes Staff forum could then be created to post who donated an item for auction, what they donated, who won the auction, the amount, and whether or not the payment was received by the beneficiary. At least the Admins and staff of the site could moderate such activity. Any private donations could be kept separately.

It would require an (at least monthly) paypal report from the beneficiary to show money received from the auctions, but it would cut out the middle man and leave less likelihood for disasters like this.

Still incensed by this whole ordeal, it makes bile rise up in my throat.
By the way, I "dugg" the topic as well so hopefully it will go viral. The word needs to be spread.

Sorry, but no. For obvious reasons, neither this site, nor any of the staff acting in the capacity of representatives of this site, will engage in these sorts of activities here. There is substantial case history here now, that such events generate way too much negative baggage and risk of misunderstanding or outright fraud. Quite frankly, I still have teeth scars on my butt from a couple of them, and have absolutely no intention of getting any more.

Yeah, I know there are all sorts of good and worthy causes that will come around, but as this thread plainly shows, there is very good reason to keep such proposals from members at distance with a stout 10 foot pole.

Probably the only thing to do Courtney, would be to sell an item on Fauna and list in the description that the proceeds of that sale will benefit such and such person. Here again, proof should then be offered on that thread that payment/shipping,ect...was taken care of.

Such a shame as it was such a good idea, having the auction helped people in need, made us feel good to give and also was a lot of fun watching the auction go down.

I am sure sometime soon, someone with very good intentions will suggest this type of benefit for a worthy cause. Some people (myself included) will be apprehensive at first, but with the history we all now have together because of the "Wises" any questions asked or verification needed will not be an unreasonable request. Every one of us is a little more skeptical, but the generosity of the people of fauna is still there.

I really do not understand why everyone is acting like the Fauna is a governing body. The Wise's should not be able to make deals over a forum. They commited fraud and scammed thousands of dollars from different individuals. They should be working out how to pay them back in court. Allowing them to make deals is just allowing them to have the possibilty to scam someone else again.

I think this post is necessary to warn people of them, but allowing them
to make a deal outside of court is allowing them
to get away with what they've done.

I really hope either someone that donated items to the auctions or the family the money is intended for calls their local police and FBI.

They are in MI ? That might be an hour behind?

He might have had so much to do, unpacking and placing animals in QT, that he might not have had time to get to us yet....:shrug01:

Funny you said that because Annie looked at me and said "she made a promise and you're not supposed to break your promise". Thanks alot Christina and Jeff, yet again, my daughter has cried another night. I hope you sleep well though, really, I do..............

Maggie, that's tough and you handled it the best way a mom in this situation could. As another member here often states "people suck". While I agree that some do and your children have learned this already, they have also learned that some people do some amazing things for others. One day in the future your children may look online or whatever resembles the internet or information available at that time and find all that has been done here. They I would hope will see the good in all that has transpired.

If I can give you any solace to this it would be that Jeff and Christina's children may do the same. Whatever today brings or in the short term, one day they may need to look their children in the eyes and answer " mom, dad, how could you have done this to another?" In all the years that pass from now to then and whatever they may accomplish, or try to forget this, that question will still be looming in their future waiting for them.

They will then experience a little of what you have today. I hope today that they at least right the financial part of this. One less aspect of it they will have to deal with when their atonement comes. And it will, be it here or after.

Jeff, do the right thing today and right the financial part of this.

:iagree: Paying back the monies owed is NOT ENOUGH to pay for what they did to this grieving family. I sincerely hope that someone has contacted the proper authorities--be it local police, FBI or whomever. If I were in a position to do so, I would myself; however, as only winning an auction, I don't think I'm in this "deep enough" to get anything started.

Just spoke to Dave on the phone; he's safe, on his way home, and he's got a story to tell.....not good news. He'll be on in a couple of hours.

WELL, SHOCKER.......................................on the phone with Dave and they DID NOT give him any animals. I'm sure he will explain the whole situation when he gets back.

For those of you in this... I have been talking to a cop friend of mine... and if needed... I will PM you what he told me. Im not making it public because I dont want these two to have time to set up some sort of story or defense.

Oh Maggie, I'm so sorry. I can't say I'm shocked, but I'm terribly sorry...:(
I'm glad Dave is safe, and I cannot wait to hear the excuses that came up this time.

Please send me that, Kevin?

I'm finishing up my complaint for the IC3. I am hoping others that donated animals or money are following suit. They may be able to shrug US off, but the feds probably won't let them off easy at all.

They want it brought, let's bring it. :reddevil:

I was so hoping those two would have found their hearts and conscience by now and start making strides to repairing the damage they have done by giving Dave the animals to go towards paying back the money they owe. But obviously the Wises only care about 2 people in this world, THEMSELVES!!!!:angry:

I believe there are 2 reservations for them now in that very hot place that soulless people go to when they die!

I, for one, do not want to hear one excuse. I am a paralegal who works for an attorney - I am going to pull in every favor that I can and ask around for help and see what can be done. My boss is a defense attorney, but we have some people in the fbi that we deal with - we are obviously on opposite sides in the cases, but most are very nice and I think I know of one who will help with this. If anyone else can think of anything else, please post it. They were given one chance and that chance has come and gone - in my opinion.

So the lies and scams continue. Incredible. I honestly wish I had put one of my geckos in the auction, just to take part in their prosecution!!!!!!!!! :eatsmiley
