In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Jeff at Boaphile

I would say it does not meet a ventilation standards since its not uniform and as 1 guy stated, only a few cards will fit in the slit, not a full deck lol
Thats a credit card in the slit so thicker then the playing cards and is not forced into it,it slides right in.

So could you get 7 cards in there? Since that is what his TOS say right?? Lol
I think I read someone saying that a page or two back. 7 playing cards isn't really that thick. If I were to buy one of these and I was told it was for ventilation, I think I might want 7 cards to fit.....at least.

Call me crazy but if I am looking for ventilation I want just that, not some jank crack/slit in my cage that is being CALLED ventilation! Just my opinion though........

Now I am curious as to if 7 cards will fit! If they do he owes you anyway, and if they do not.....calling that slit ventilation just seems like an excuse to me.

I don't own a boaphile, but is it a welded seam that looks to have been over-sanded? That's what it looks like.

New info-- if his tos is 7 playing cards, then this issue is dead.I could only get 5 in there without pushing and 6 if i push lightly,no 7 without it expanding the split!
Hows that for being honest people?

Thats is just what happened, the sanding guy did a poor job and over sanded the weld just as i explained to Jeff over the phone.

Then he says some bull about ventilation instead of hiring a guy who knows what he's doing. That's just great! Thanks for checking!
This has helped me reach my decision about cages. I hope they continue to work out for you and I hope you have much better luck in the future.

Please voice your opinions

My opinion is that in today's business world, communication should be through email. Often in verbal communication people misremember, or worse, deliberately forget. Unlike verbal communication, the written word remains to clarify possible misunderstandings.

If a vendor will not communicate via email, I would avoid using that vendor. Whatever reason they give, the bottom line is if something goes wrong, without a writing you are in many cases out of luck. If your vendor will not stand by his product and give both of y'all, buyer and seller, the protection of dealing in writing, I'd be down the road and looking elsewhere.

He did communicate via email very quickly, until i got the cages and emailed about the split.
Then he wouldnt answer,i knew right then he was not a man of his words.
I'm moving onto the next cage builder,or maybe i will go back to building my own melamine cages. My first 3 are still in use and have not peeled and still in almost perfect condition 3 years later. They cost me $50 to build.I get the .220 plexi for free.So if they last 5 years per $50 and i have to build new ones,i will get 20 years of caging for the same price.I only have 20 years left.lol.I think i'll get 10 years per home made cage being honest.I just like the boaphiles and the look.I wish he just would have been more concerned i wasnt happy with split cages no matter how many cards fit in the split.

Amanda Rader, there are no terms of service that include sliding playing cards into a cracked seam. Craig was having fun creating an utterly ridiculous scenario that would justify those splits. That is why when you questioned it, he gave definitions for sarcasm. He didn't give definitions because he thought you were being sarcastic. Now, I don't know if you are just playing along and already know, but just in case I thought I would clarify, as you have already made multiple posts about the TOS that simply do not exist. Jeff didn't claim that the cracks are a ventilation feature.

This is the actual warantee
Boaphile Plastics Warrantee

We at Boaphile Plastics are so confident in our workmanship and materials we will warrantee our product against defects in craftsmanship and materials for a period of one full year from the date of delivery. In fact any heating systems installed by Boaphile Plastics are guaranteed to operate for a period of two years from the date of delivery. This same warrantee of two years applies to our hardware, hinges, door latches and keyed locks to be free of defects in workmanship and function. We are confident that you will have problem free, time saving, stable, beautiful caging for many years to come. While some have opted for the cheapest low quality hardware and accessories available on the market we will not! Our owner, Jeff Ronne / The Boaphile, as a keeper of the worlds largest collection of Boa Constrictors and a 15 year High End Cabinet Maker/Furniture Builder knows the value of good materials. Jeff has researched and sought out the best quality, beautiful hardware available anywhere. We do not use the poor quality plastic hinges and latches chosen by some but utilize heavy duty, furniture grade steel hinges AND ultimately stylish professional grade, custom built just for Boaphile Plastics, and imported door latches for your long term ease of operation and use. This is why we can offer the absolute best warrantee you will find anywhere. We want you to be happy. No. We want you to be elated with your new Boaphile Plastics products. We are confident you and your critters will be tickled pink.

And this is what his site says about ventilation

Ventilation:

I have made a drastic improvement over other caging in the ventilation department. No more unsightly vent covers! No more need to leave stacks of cages apart because of the vent holes. No more need to leave cages away from the walls because of vents either. The venting occurs at the front of the cage. The door is mounted in such a way to allow a gap all the way around the door on the sides and at the bottom. This gap totals about 5 square inches! That is the same as a 5" x 1" hole for fresh air! This is about the same amount of ventilation you would have from two mid-sized unsightly vent covers. Great ventilation and no more vent covers that fall off and get dirty. Also improperly placing vent covers at the top of cages often creates a drafting or "chimney" effect allowing too much air to flow making it difficult to maintain consistent temperatures and humidity. Thought you might like to know!

And Craftsmansip
Craftsmanship:

Each and every one of our cages and RhinoRaXX is machined on a computerized router. So each part is precisely the same as every other part like it that we have machined for years and years. This means you can have confidence that your Boaphile Plastics product, ordered in five years, will fit exactly with that product you buy from us today. Consistence. Quality in materials and the very best in design from Jeff Ronne/The Boaphile who is Boaphile Plastics. Not just another hack, Jeff is a more than 20 year craftsman whose cages and racks house tens of thousands of herps everywhere. His designs have been influential in the successful reproduction of thousands more critters as well. Yes, Boaphile Plastics is not just making plastic boxes but plastic reptile reproduction lifetime habitats.

Thanks for the clarification, I just love computers! (<-----My sarcasm! LOL)
I thought what he was saying was ridiculous! I don't know if I was the only one who didn't catch the sarcasm :/ Excuse me for that :)
Anyway thanks again!.........makes me feel a LITTLE better.
I will most def. be going elsewhere for cages.

Obviously people don't know a quality cage when they see one.

That is a built-in feature on a Boaphile cage - micro-slit seam-technology ventilation. It's professional quality baby.

Now the Boaphile can take your cage order over the internet, and even charge you over the internet.........

........but he won't take an e-mail if you got a problem. There's a very good reason for that, but seeing as most of you people are too simple to appreciate cutting edge enclosure ventilation, I doubt you are all professional grade enough to understand it.

Bottom line - it must be nice having a bunch of people carry your water for you when you screw over a customer. Means you don't have to come here and defend your indefensible utter lack of acceptable customer service.

Jesus people, the OP is not the first person to come here or on another forum and gripe about the Boaphile's on and off again customer service.

Maybe the Boaphile is too busy composing the text for his next series of ads on Kingsnake, or writing a tough hitting report on boa breeding for Reptiles/Teen Beat Magazine to answer his e-mail. After all, it's not like you can fit a WHOLE deck of cards in there, just one..............the OP should just stop griping and bask in the glory of the flawed cage - after all, the Boaphile is a heck of a guy, with a family and a life for Chrissakes. The OP should be satisfied that he has even a flawed piece of his Majesty's greatness.

Sarcasm

????? Jeff's TOS clearly states a refund can only be considered if 7 cards or more fit... duh, everyone knows this!

Even if that vendor is the Boaphile?

Even if that vendor is a family man?

Even if that vendor is extremely busy?

Even if that vendor invented the boa constrictor?

Obviously you have no respect for the towering reputation of f the Boaphile.

Why should the Boaphile dirty his fingers and risk carpal tunnel syndrome and disfiguring callouses responding to your whiny and needy e-mails?

I sent him a pm because i think that 1 was the best post so far.I laughed my butt of when i read it this morning.I believe it was Craig with the sarcasm.Great post!

Yep, I like Jeff and his cages (I have several), but I would want a replacement too. Like has been said, he paid good money for the cages and deserves better.
