Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

JENNIFER HARRISON GOOD GAL!!!

Not to drag this back to the top, but I wanted to bring up something I've been thinking about over the last week. For all who have offered to donate animals to me -- would any of you consider donating the animals to Stef Kunder and Tommy Benasco in place of me? They both got seriously screwed when this virus hit me, as Stef did an $1100 website job for me and was never able to get the trade animals we agreed on in return...and Tommy had lent his yearling male g-stripe on breeding loan to me before it all began, and now that snake is rendered pretty much worthless because we will never know if it is a carrier or not. Even though I am never going to be getting back into snakes, both of them still keep them and deserve to get their animals replaced if at all possible. I just thought maybe those that wanted to help me might be willing to help them instead. Let me know.

Jen - I can't say I'm necessarily speaking for others here, but I think the reaction from some when you said that Tommy was going to keep that male g-stripe should be some clue....I just can't see wanting to take the chance in sending this guy an animal, only to have it down the line possibly exposed to the virus. I'm truly very sorry for him being affected by this as well, but in the end, I'll never understand why someone would keep an animal that could even possibly be a carrier of this awful thing within 1000 miles of his collection.

Cat, the g-stripe is still here. One of his other snakes got out before he could move them all out of the building he wants to keep the g-stripe in, so until he finds it and gets it out of there, I can't send the g-stripe back to him.

But the point is Jen, it WILL be going back to him. And I thought it was going to be at his kid brother's house? What really is the point of him even keeping the animal, if it is to be just kept in a building all by itself?

I'm sorry Jen, but I just don't understand it.

If nobody decides to "donate"... Do you have any plans to compensate those two people for the losses they incured because of your inability to quarantine?

Quarantine had nothing to do with it. My house shares one ventilation system and it was airborne -- they could have been in 3 separate rooms and they all still would have been affected. And yes, I've been working on trying to compensate them. But I don't need to rehash my whole situation again.

And actually, the animals were divided into 2 different rooms for many, many months. Most still got sick regardless, and there is no way to know whether any were carriers or not, which is why I had to put them all down.

Jen,
Due to my schedule I have had some difficulty keeping up with all of the details concerning your situation, so I apologize if this is already common knowledge, but was the exact etiology of the infection that wiped out your collection ever established?

Thanks in advance,

Jay

No, if he gets a replacement, the g-stripe will be put down. He won't have a need for it to go back to him.

So wait a minute here.....if he gets a replacement, it will be put down, because he won't have a "need" for it? Does this mean that he's planning on breeding with him if he doesn't get a replacement??

And if he's not going to breed him....why doesn't he just put have him down NOW?

Sorry, something just isn't sitting right with this.

Which makes it... What was that called again? Ohyeah... Not quarantined.

And yes, I've been working on trying to compensate them.

It's decent then that you're making at least one responsible decision without having people holler at you about it for a week first.

And this suggests once again the relative futility of most of the quarantine methods we keep rehashing. They work for parasites and the such, hardly if at all for most insidious infective agents. Although it would be advisable to continue to "quarantine" new animals just lets not think it's the panacea for all contagious ailments.

Wait... you and he said that the gstripe would not be near his collection but in fact that he was going to give it to his brother as a pet.... So why would he have to wait till he found the lost snake? Also why would he move all of his snakes out of one building? Is the building part of his house? I hope he knows that if he thinks of still using this animal he is giving his whole collection a death sentence.

I'm the owner of the Stripe.

I had a few snakes still at my parents' house from before I moved out. I wanted to move the last few out before the Stripe was sent there, but a het Albino female broke out on me. I would definately rather not loose that female as part of my collection, so I asked her to hold off until I could find it and get it out of there.

As for the snake being put down "if I had a replacement" - I never said that. I plan on buying a replacement next year (since my het girls are not close to breeding size yet), and this stripe will NEVER see any of my other snakes.

If any of this Garbage is true. Then why havent you put the stripe down YET??

1, He will never see any of your other snakes.
2, He could "possibly kill" Thousands of other peoples snakes.
3, I bet you plan on breeding him!!! :reddevil:

I definately have no intentions of breeding it (regardless of what you, and I'm sure many others, think).

Although I can see where you are coming from with it "possibly" killing other snakes, I just don't see it happening when it is sitting alone in my brother's room. That said, I never asked that it not be put down either. In all honesty, I just like that snake way too much to ask for it to be killed. I certainly wouldn't have held it against her if she did put it down, though.

Here's my thoughts, unpopular though they may be. :shrug01:

In this business there are no guarantees. We are dealing with live animals and sometimes accidents, whether though our own carelessness or ignorance, happen. (currently having loaner animals out there, I will incur a great lost both emotionally and mentally if these animals are hurt because I raised them from hatchlings).

Speaking for my own self only, if I had been the one that had done a deal with Jennifer....knowing what she's been though and how much she's helped us by revealing as much as she has and the debt that she has incurred, I would not want to add to her burdens so would have forgiven the debt. I encourage the others that she owes animals to do the same since she has said that she will NEVER get into this hobby again. It's a business and in a business we are able to write off bad debts.

Now, strictly speaking business wise and ethically, we may not have even known that another animal was alive if Jen hadn't spoken up and had to request assistance (perhaps there's a method to her madness?). I am not inclined to send an animal to a person that has shown himself to be less forthcoming than Jen and unable to do what is needed for the "greater good" (I admit I am being selfish here..but I couldn't send an animal to anyone that has not spoken up about his part in this until now (if I missed a post forgive me). I honestly thought that ALL snakes were put down including the loaners.

Jen, I sent you a pm.

I never so much as implied to Jen that she would owe me anything if the Stripe was put down.

I was also originally under the impression that my snake was going to be put down aswell. I actually made it a point to try not talking to Jen because I knew I'd have her save it if she offered. It was a complete surprise to me when she asked when she could send it back, because I never asked it to be saved to begin with.

As for speaking up about "my part in this" - what exactly was there to say? I sent an animal to her. Her collection got a virus. That's about all there was to it - nothing to do with me not being forthcoming. Hell, I didn't even have to clear up that little misunderstanding above. I could have just as easily ignored that if I was trying to hide something.

Either way, I have absolutely no more room for snakes right now, so I would not take you up on any snakes regardless. Although I do fail to see how I'm the only one unable to do what is needed when Jen spared a snake for herself aswell.
