In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy JIM TALIAFERRO IS A THIEF, DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN 3 YOUR KIDS!!!

And it wasn't JUST the wrong snake...it was the Wrong one as well as looked sick. :(

Chris, I really don't understand your logic here. While I can agree that a child's involvement, depending on age should be to an extent limited (I can't see a five year old having the judgement to choose wisely on how to "invest" a few thousand dollars on their own) , I have always found that letting a child start young and learn as they go...given proper parental guidance...is the best way to raise an educated, responsible adult. Really, if you get deep enough into ANY "industry", whether it be herps, horses, guns, cars, antiques...you are going to find just as many "preditors" (sic) that are willing to take advantage of anyone, child or adult. Does this mean that we should completely shelter our children from all of this, and then assume that the day they turn 18, they will just "know" how to deal with these kinds of unscrupulous people? Or just say to ourselves, "Oh well, he's an adult now...tough luck!" Not hardly. If we give our kids the chance to participate and learn from an early age, we are giving them the tools to function much more responsibly and wisely as an adult.

That said...this guy was fully aware that he was messing with a kid as well as an adult. He KNEW. I believe that makes the child's inclusion in this thread more than acceptable, IMHO.

Cathy, good job on your post!:iagree:

Chris- I honestly can't figure you out? You have been a member here for 8 years, yet you only have had one add posted-Back in 2006? Do you even own any snakes? Are you just a BOI Troll with nothing better to do with your time then to add your 2 cents for the purpose of stating your opinion? Opinions are like A--holes, everyone has one! Your's just don't seem to help out or contribute to the subject at hand. Think long and hard before your next post and ask youself if it is really nessasary to state your opinion- Please!

nick, great point. Jim knew that the snake (healthy blue-eyed lucy was going to be sent for the kids. as soon as he knows that, he could have had a change of heart and say, "no, i cant rip off kids", but he didnt. he chose to scam a kid. it happens everyday, that people take advantage of kids. the difference here is that it has been made public, and something needs to be done about. kids shouldnt be scammed until they are adults, haha (but serious also). just more proof that people will do anything for the almighty dollar. when this Jim is laying on his death bed, i wonder if he will look back and say, "i sure am glad i scammed that parent and kid out of some money and product"
oh, to go back a time when honesty and someones word (not a bunch signed papers) actually meant the right thing. this guy is yet another person to remind me how far we are from ever going back to that.
if my wife was having any blue-eyed's soon, we would send you one of your choice free shipped

I am SO glad I've never had a snake shipped that way. I've always been fortunate enough to get snakes from good people who actually use the heat packs when it's cold.
I'm very glad this thread is here.

The emotional piece is always a bit difficult to describe. So I see exactly where Doug is coming from with his kids and the transaction.

What did not make my initial thread of my ordeal with Jim is the emotional side. I purchased the tortoises for my spouse, so I'm sure you guys can imagine how that went over with what we received. Quite a few tears shed by some unhappy people at my house.

I'm glad Doug posted all events that surrounded his transaction and the effect it had on his family as a whole.

Sorry April...

I assumed I was not posting off topic as the heading for this thread reads...JIM TALIAFERRO IS A THIEF, DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN 3 YOUR KIDS!!! And Jason, my "opinions", whether you agree or disagree with them, are no less relevant than yours. In any case, this creep will get what he deserves in the end. What comes around goes around.

Sorry this happened Jason. I'm blown away that some of you think it's irresponsible to include children in our hobby. Assuming that he doesn't allow access to the hot collection, which makes sense because he did trade some hots for a snake that his children can handle. My son is included with my collection and both my wife and son have a snake that is theirs. It teaches responsibility in fact; regular care and feeding, making intelligent purchases, economics, genetics, appreciation of nature, and respect for the animals we work with. To me those are tremendous benefits for a HOBBY that I love anyways. I mean what's cooler then getting to play with snakes, watch nature work, and get to do all this with my family? Best of luck and I hope they don't loose faith. I'm proud to belong to a community that would step foward to help so eagerly, and have more respect for your refusal Jason.

Huh-whu?

"Some of you"? I think you mean me. Find one post where I stated that I think that it is irresponsible to include children in "our hobby". Quite the contrary. It's the exposure to potential scumbags and preditors they should not be exposed to. The melodramatics here are suffocating. I agree with your post almost entirely, minus the part where you say "making intelligent purchases", while referring to minors. If you think that's okay, give your kids your credit card and don't tell them where to go or what to spend it on. While you're at it, give them the car keys and send them out after dark. Make sure they have a gun for protection, as I am sure they will know how to use it responsibly. How much of that is legal? Any kid viewing this thread will absorb that message. Good luck.

drama much?

But I'm glad you don't like melodramatics.

With regards to staying on topic (the guy sending the wrong and SICK snake) I am sorry this happened to you. It is awful when people are dishonest, kids involved or not.

I'm sure that alot of kids would have done backflips had their fathers given them a gun to play with as well. Maybe he should let them drive his car as well. What the heck, give the child his credit card. At least now people will know how to scam fauna's users into sending them free stuff. Hey, my kid got scammed! Had nothing to do with my judgement! Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money!

You are absolutely rediculous. I've seen numerous threads where your just stirrin up some crap. The BOI is to help people and for useful information and posts, not for you to come put your .2 worthless cents in. I doubt anybody on here takes anything you say seriously. Stop tryin to bring others down with you and find something useful to do with your time.

And NO ONE would be twisting my arm to help, chris. I would willingly do what I would hope people would do if it was my own child. (this is in response to the above referenced post of his)

I wish something could be done about this guy. Sending the wrong snake, sick, with no heat pack like he did, through UPS was just wrong. Poor ethics. :(

When it comes time to replace my sons snake with differant genetics, it is quite responsible to include him on the transaction. I have no plan of letting him loose with a credit card, but I will see what direction he wants to go, then find some options and let him choose. I will handle the transaction but you can bet he won't see it that way. It will be his snake being sold or traded and it will be his snake comming in. He won't be exposed to predators anymore then he would going to church on Sundays, but he will learn basic economics and transactions. Hopefully he will learn good ethics and character by how I present myself and others in the industry. Exactly as the OP has done.

Has any progress been made by third parties or the OP?

Infractions have already been given so I'll reiterate one more time for anyone else feeling the need to continue the off topic banter. This thread is about the transaction at hand, and not the place of children in the hobby, or anything else concerning them.
And no, tossing in a pertinent sentence at the end of an off topic post does not render the post "on topic".
