In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A few months back I paid a deposit on a guyanan BCC from Scales N Tails in San Antonio, TX. When I was ready to complete the transaction Mr. Jimi Hunt informed me the snake was sold to someone else although I was first to pay a deposit. He promised me a refund and then disappeared. It has now been over 6 months and the refund has yet to arrive. He gave me a sob story a few months back about business doing really bad and owing other people money also. I am an easy going guy so I let him slide untill he had the cash. A little over a month ago he contacted me and promised to send out the refund. @ this time he was offering animals for sale on kingsnake so he should of been able to refund me...it isn't alot of money. It's only 100 bucks and I don't really need the cash, but the fact that he has made no effort to make retribution pisses me off. I do not expect to ever get my 100 bucks back, but I do want everyone to know Jimi Hunt is NOT trustworthy. Scales and Tails in San Antonio, TX ... black listed!!!!

Thank you for the warning Charles. You should e-mail him a copy of this thread so he knows how foolish he is to ruin his reputation over a $100 debt to you. I for one won't do business with him after reading this. I've seen many beautiful pictures of your animals as well as numerous posts at the Boa Forum at Kingsnake. There must be thousands of people out there who know and respect you so if I were Jimi Hunt I would pay you off really fast before his sales are flat to nonexistent. I hope he does the right thing and pays you off immediately!

the sad thing is..alot of buyers dont realize this site is here and blindly go shopping on kingsnake so jimi can sell sell sell all day and never feel a twinge of pain.
but..the fact that someone would stiff you is a joke..and pathetic.
booooo...he needs to wake up and smell the coffee..
thats a two thumbs down no no.. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
doesnt this guy have a phone number or something you can call?

I would have to agree with Greg & Kim... It's definitely the principle & not the $$$.

Thanks for the notice Charles.

Get it together Jimi!

Thanks,

Right then...

I'm not calling you a liar, I'm not saying you're  wrong or incorrect or mistaken...

But how many times has only one side of any given story been told, public opinion seems set in stone, blacklisting, condemning and berrating the person who may not even be aware the thread exists?

There are extenuating circumstances sometimes that will mitigate a burden of guilt on an individual who seems to have been accused. Other times, the accused will show up with proof that the entire thread is nonsense...

Again, I have no idea what the specifics of this situation are but I have dealt with Jimi Hunt and I have known him for a while. While I have no knowledge of the specifics involved here, I can say that I know him to be an honest, upstanding individual with a strong moral sense about the proper way to conduct buisness (Which means he pretty much tends to agree with me) and I can't see any actions of this nature as being in character for him.

I have e-mailed him altering him to the existance of this thread, hopefully he'll get that e-mail and respond to the situation. I do know he's fairly busy with his work so a  response may not be immediate but he isn't the type to let  a thread like this stand however it ends up being resolved.

Again, I do not know the specifics of the situation and I would never accuse anyone of lying with the minimal information presented here but... Only one side of this matter has been seen and perception can signifigantly alter "facts" about an interaction of this nature.

Jimi may show up with a returned check scanned in as proof that the matter has been resolved (I don't know... but neither do most of you).

I have no problem jumping on proven bad guys but they first need to show themselves to be bad guys or scammers and I really doubt that's the case here. If  Jimi shows up and acts like a guilty man, offers no solution or explination and starts swearing then I can see the severity of some of those reactions... But not until that point when he demonstrates that HIMSELF.

And incidentally...

Okay, so three months ago you put down a deposit?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">When I was ready to complete the transaction Mr. Jimi Hunt informed me the snake was sold to someone else </td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

Just how long did you leave it with him on a deposit only?

With a hundred dollar deposit and say $5-10 in rats a week, I wouldn't hold it long if you refused to finalize the transaction or dropped out of communication for an extended period of time either. If you had a set timeline for payment that you failed to complete the transaction within or if you left it for an unreasonable period of time and the deposit was non-refundable than it's possible he was entirely correct in not giving you any money back. There is a period of time after which a deposit simply becomes meaningless, dropping off the face of the planet or stopping communication for six months would be an unreasonable burden on the seller. Buyers don't like being jerked around, neither do vendors.

I don't get it, a "few months ago" you put down the deposit and now it's been "six months"? Time flowing sideways for you or did you just write the original post in a manner that left a LOT of ambiguity about the exact details of this transaction?

What  were the  exact dates  of each action?

What was the timeline set forth for completion of the transaction and how much time passed between the initial payment and your proposed final payment?

Was the deposit non-refundable?

We'll see I suppose, won't we?

That is to say, we'll see when you provide a concrete timeline, some sort of proof and hear from Jimi on the matter.

seamus..i do agree with you 100percent.
in defense of charles i would be very shocked to find that he led someone around because of money issues or anything of that nature.
hopefully jimi comes to tell us his side.
all we can do is wait.

I understand your argument, but the fact of the matter is I did NOTHING wrong. The time between deposit and final payment was two weeks which was agreed upon by myself and Mr. KHunt . This is not a recent developement, this has been going on for over 6 months. Today I noticed his name on an ad on kingsnake for bearded dragons.

http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=51&de=25255

But the name inside of the ad was different. I called this person today and asked for contact info for Mr. Hunt and he began to fumble with his words. Saying Mr. Hunt lived with his mother etc... I am supposed to call back later...so we'll see if he gives up the number. In any event, I was a nice guy and gave the guy MONTHS to come up with 100 bucks. Enough is enough...I did nothing wrong...the guy is a DEADBEAT! How hard is it to raise 100 bucks? I have spent well over 20K on animals this year and he is the ONLY person I have a problem with..... Go figure? Come on Mr. Khunt defend yourself...speak up...I'de love to hear the excuses!!!!

On July 22nd Mr. Hunt replied to a post a made on this very same site and praised me for being a nice guy and not posting this situation on the BOI. @ that point it had already been a few months since I heard from. He promised me that day July 22nd to send out a refund and was very appreciative of me being so patient with him. Ofcourse the check never arrived, I emailed him and he was very rude. Next thing you know he disappears...might I add he was selling animals on kingsnake @ this time. I guess he gave them away because according to him he has no money...how long am I supposed to wait on this yocal to get his @%&# together??? I did nothing wrong...I don't even want the cash...I want a formal apology from Mr. Hunt in the open!!!!

i remember that thread charles.
..no jimi and no other side of story seamus. knowing charles i have a strong inclination to go along with him here...bad business move to burn customers like that.. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

It's only been a day or so, I still reccomend giving it time.

Although the Ad that was posted seems to be entirely disassociated from the individual I personally know as "Jimi Hunt"

The one who I'm farmiliar with is employed at a zoo in Texas and had been selling animals through John Hollister's website rather than the one that was linked to that Kingsnake Ad.

Might I ask what contact info you've got for the Jimi Hunt you're talking about (As unlikely as it may be for two people to live in Texas with that particular identical name)? E-mail addresses or AIM names other than the [email protected] that's listed on the website off the ad?

I still find it very difficult to believe that the individual known to me would operate in the manner specified without some signifigant mitigating circumstances and would like a more specific timeline and details on this transaction.

hey charles,
you know russ and i aren't very far from san antonio. we make visits frequently. hmmmmmm

Well, talk about timing.  I haven't been on the BOI in months, but because of receiving you're e-mail this morning, Charles, I decided to check it out and see what nonsense has been claimed.  Next time you post something about me, why don't you tell the whole story.  You did send me a deposit for $100, and I told you the snake HAD already been sold, this much is true.  What you failed to mention was the fact that you decided to take a leaf-tailed gecko in its place.  Now, in order for me to get this leaf-tail gecko that you wanted, I purchased it from a friend of mine, which I also told you in advance.  Then, afterwards, you decided to back out of the deal, so I didn't send the gecko, and I told you I would refund your $100, leaving me with a leaf-tailed gecko that I didn't want, and out $100.  At this point, I am still going to refund your $100, that by all rights, I don't need to send you.  I could just send you the gecko in its place.  As far as the timing in which I get you your money, I have been pretty easy, and I have been willing to give you $100 that I don't necessarily think is owed.  However, because of the fact that the snake HAD already been sold, and you DID decide that you didn't want the gecko, I will still send you your money, which I have explained.  At this point, I would advise the rude e-mails to cease.  I have thought of many ways to mend this deal, including sending you another BCC in its place, which you also failed to mention.  But at the time, you told me you were downsizing your collection.  I have full intention of giving you $100 back.  In the meantim, I would like your e-mails, if you do e-mail, to be more civil, and I would like any stories told about me in any message board to be the whole story.

Also, thanks Charles, for the wonderful usage of my last name.  KHunt.  I haven't heard that since I was a 6th grader.... memories.

Let's get realistic Jimmy, this would have been over MONTHS ago if you just did what you promised!!! That is the bottom line!!! What is the excuse for not making restitution in 3 months? It's only 100 bucks...atleast you could of done was admit that it wasn't going to happen and I would of taken it as a loss....Don't preach your self rightous crap to me..the bottom line is you never closed the deal in any way shape or form.

Ok, you want to get realiatic?  Why don't you tell people that I had to remind YOU that I had a $100 deposit from you?  Another thing you failed to mention.  Charles, my business is not done for money, it's done because of the hobby.  I make little, close to no profit on the animals I keep and sell.  As far as those beardies go... those are not mine.  Those are a previous associates that I haven't even worked with in almost a year.  why my name was on the post is beyond me.  You can whine and slander all you want, but the fact is this, you gave me a $100 deposit that you completely forgot about until I reminded you.  Had I been 99% of the other people in the population, I wouldn't have given any thought to the fact that you forgot all about it.  You almost make me regret reminding you, as rude as you have been... however, the money is your money, and even though the deal went bad on both sides, I will get you your money.  This childish crap needs to stop.
