In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Just got this from SYR

sounds like good idea..i have always shipped SYR and they charge like an extra $4.10 for "SIGNATURE REQUIRED" option...

also i never knew that when shipping reptiles with fedex they get transported in a small temp controlled van.. is that an extra option or is it standard for all Fedex Overnight shipments?

Ok... just ran a dummy quote for the last person I shipped to. There was no change in quoted price betwen "no sig required" and "sig required" with FedEx

Even if they get it straightened out, someone will screw it up again. It was bound to happen. I never understood why anyone would want to use UPS to begin with. Fedex is all I use, and it is by far the best. I got that email from them as well telling me about the deliverys being stopped. Funny thing is, I never set up an account with SYR, they did it for me, and I never even asked. Wasn't that nice of them. And, I have never used them.

When they first started this up.. I got bashed because I pointed out flaws... and how this is the best thing for the herping industry... how they are making it so you can ship via UPS.

My answer is still the same now as it was then. I dont have anything against ProExotics... I have some of their animals in my collection... and will get more in the future. But SYR is good for them .... not the herping industry. If they want to make it good for the herping industry... get UPS to open it up so we can ALL get certified.... Until then.. your paying PE to use thier number and in return you get a break on your shipping charges because of thier track record / shipping numbers with UPS.

I can see where this might be a good thing for the hobbiest that may only ship a snake a year to make room for something else... but if you plan on breeding... do yourself a favor and get certified via FedEx. It will save you alot of headaches.

IF UPS ever does open it up to the rest of us.... I will jump thru the hoops just so I have a backup plan if something happens to shipping FedEx... but FedEx will always be my primariy option... for the animals sake.

Here is what I am thinking... Since there is a smaller number of express shipments vs regular shipments... they put them on a different delivery truck to get them to you faster. :shrug01:

dunno

This is correct. If you notice there are two different vans you'll see depending on what you're getting. One says FedEx Express (i think) on the side and one says FedEx Ground. The two are not interchangeable.

Once I had a shipment going out on a day I happened to be getting in something I had ordered via ground service. I started to hand him the package I had going out and he saw it was overnight. He told me he couldn't take that, since he was the ground truck, and the express driver would be along later and get it.

FedEx is the only one of the three that divide packages that way.

Well looks like I'll be working on finishing my Fed Ex Certification now....got my box all ready and called my rep again lol.

Although this could just be a hiccup...no one knows how long it will last, and if it can happen so fast and easy this time. It's bound to happen again, and I don't want to take that chance.

I wish Robyn would come in here and help us all understand this situation better

From FedEx's website

Live Animals and Ornamental Marine Life (Including Live Fish)

FedEx Express does not accept live-animal shipments as part of its regular-scheduled service and does not transport household pets such as dogs, cats, birds and hamsters.

FedEx Express may accept certain shipments of live animals such as horses, livestock and zoo animals (to and from zoo locations only) on an exception basis if approved and coordinated by the FedEx Live Animal Desk (call 1.800.405.9052).

If approved by FedEx, we may accept non-venomous reptiles, amphibians, live/tropical fish and beneficial insects on an exception basis under the following conditions:

Shipments must be from a business to a business (from a breeder to a pet store, for example).

The shipper must have its packaging tested and pre-approved by FedEx Packaging Design and Development for the type of animal being shipped. Call 1.800.633.7019 for assistance. It is the responsibility of the shipper to adequately package shipments for all temperature extremes and handling conditions.

Contact your FedEx account executive for details and additional requirements.

Very truth, thats exactly how they work.
UPS delivers Air and Ground all in one truck (except Early AM pckgs), is more cost efficient than having two drivers go the same destination. The brown trucks do have a white top that provides better heat resistance but it can't beat air conditioning. Another thing is that we all ship Next Day Air which means packages are supposed to be delivered before 10:30am and thats way before it actually gets warm outside (of course not including very hot summer days)

If SYR ever comes back (I hope it does) I really hope they flag shippers that have screwed up in the past and not let them use their account anymore.
A video on YouTube just comes to mind, where a guy gets several ball pythons about 300 grams each in one tiny box, I'm guessing 6"x6"x6" box. One of them came out of the box with either a broken neck or nerve damage because the shipper was too cheap and wanted to save a couple of bucks.
I guess is time for me to get FedEx certified! (I hope my boss is not reading this)

Rainer said he had spoke with Robyn and it had to do with two shipments, one involving dry ice the other was a false water cobra

Hopefully, for the industrys sake, they will resolve this with UPS quickly. Its always good to have another shipping source other than FedEx and Delta Dash.

Every package I send out with FedEx is "Signature Required".... I dont think it costs me anything extra.. but I will check next time I prepair a shipment... will get the quote before and after selecting that option.

It is an add on, and there is a fee....or at least there was the last time I checked it which was a few years ago)

Here are the fees listed on the website.

U.S. Express Package Services,

• $1.75 per package
(Indirect Signature Required)
• $3 per package
(Direct Signature Required)
• $4 per package
(Adult Signature Required
