Yes it seems you were badly wronged but tbh as soon as Kati said she would refund you, that is the point where you should have been striving to work the deal out to each others satisfaction, NOT throw a hissy fit.

I would not have been surprised to have seen Kati ,after seeing your reactions, to have pulled the offer right back off the table and left you with nothing.
Be gratefull it has worked out this well and also be gracious in working out the details.
 
Your only option if you wish to be whole, is to return the gecko. If she doesn't refund when he arrives, then you can be sure she will never be able to resell him for what she thinks he is worth.

I think he is a cute crestie, but I'd not pay more than $60 for him.

I advise you to ship him back.

I'm dealing with two kids who are furious with me for sending him back to her after this..putting him back through the post... I posted everything... absolutely everything.. and she avoided it like the plague...and your going to act like I should be grateful that I have money spent on his tank all his supplies, food and more.. and now it goes to waste because some people lie and cheat? Get this.. I dont want any more.. I'm done.. because of her lies, and the humiliation I felt for being taken, I don't trust and I don't care to buy another animal online. Which means no crested geckos.. something I truly wanted.. I'm done. So ya, I'm grateful...sooo much to be grateful for. I was avoiding this, but there you go.. Wow! Yeah okay. Regardless of your "POSSIBLE" previous misrepresentation? Are we reading the same thread, or did you skip all the posts between the first and last page here. Her "best possible solution" wouldn't exist had she done the right thing in the first place. She not only lied, but a sold a diamong ring she got from a gumball machine. I saw no "hissyfit" once the proper deal was made. The only person here that should feel "incredibly lucky" is NOT the OP. She's lucky she didn't entertain having "pulled the offer right back off the table and left you with nothing". Lastly, if someone smears dog feces on your face, then wipes it off, let them know how "grateful" you are.

Ok, after reading all this BS, here's my opinion. Take it or leave it. I couldn't care less.

You need to slow your roll. Seriously. Get the deal done and be over it. You're getting emotionally charged about what people are observing on YOUR actions in this thread. Not anyone else. If you don't like what people have to say, then don't read it. But YOU are the one getting fired up about the opinions, we're not. Yes, you were wronged and now she is trying to make it right. So don't go getting into a knee-jerk about the rest of the thread because YOU don't like people's opinions.

Everyone has personal issues. If you choose to let them leak out into public knowledge, then that's on you. I'm a mom of 2 kids and I get stressed all the time, but I sure as hell can calm myself down before I go and post my thoughts on a public forum to show my emotional meltdown. If you can't handle that people are going to comment their opinions and observations about the post YOU decided to make on this public forum, then I suggest you step away from the internet for awhile. Because by golly there isn't anyone on any public forum that is going to agree with everything everyone else has to say at all times.

It's not the seller's issue if you have issues. It's your issue. So to go back to the point; She is going to refund you fully and expects you to send her the gecko back in the condition that she shipped it to you. You will get your money back. Get it done, then walk away. The more you throw your bs in this thread about your personal issues and show you can't handle your emotions when someone gives their opinion, the more it's going to make you look ungrateful. Suck it up, calm down, and handle your business. The faster you handle your business, the sooner people will stop giving their opinions about the way you handled yourself in your thread.

I get your anger and disappointment, it sucks when a seller is dishonest and sells an animal at an inflated cost.

It's sad that she won't refund most and let you keep the gecko. It's not like she really wants him, well maybe she does … to resell him to someone else at an inflated price.
 
You can't have your cake and eat it too, or in this case gecko and refund. You need to decide if you want to keep the gecko and lose the money or send it back and get a full refund to buy a new gecko. Heck if your kids miss it that much go buy them a pet from a pet store or local hobbyist, there is nothing wrong with having a pet only gecko if it makes your kids happy. It stinks she did what she did but this is the best deal your going to get and no matter what long paragraph you post that's not going to change. The offer isn't going to be on the table forever so deciding sooner rather then later would probably be a good idea.
 
Wether you can accept it or not, the fact of the matter is--this is business. You do not help your case by dragging personal problems in to it.

More to the point, everyone will be watching how you handle this. If you get the refund and then refuse to return the gecko, it is going to make your head spin at how fast the tables turn and you find yourself not only labeled a "Bad Guy" but suddenly on "No Sell Lists" of reputable breeders.

Take your refund and return the gecko, count this as a Lesson Learned. You are happy to point fingers at what you preceive as the seller's wrongs, but you made mistakes in this deal as well.

The BOI has served it's purpose and you, well. It has helped to get you your money back.

You took offense and affront at my last post and that is fine, it was/is harsh but still the truth, let me clarify...

Read through some of the bad guy BOI here and tell me how many you see where the op ends up STILL being way out of pocket, there are a huge number where the bad guy never even shows up or responds, never mind makes good monetary wise.

This is what I meant by "lucky" and "gratefull" in my earlier post.
Yes you were obviously wronged BUT Kati DID show up AND offer a full refund, I can tell you now that is a rare occurence especially when from the start of this thread it looked like you had already been run over by an 18 wheeler as far as hope for a refund went!

Now to another individual who was obviously not reading the same thread.... it took from post #56 ( where Kati FIRST stated she would make a full refund) to post #96 for you to calm down and rationalise the deal....that is what I referred to as a "hissy fit"

We all have personal issues but we should not bring them to a business forum and let them affect our judgement, easy to say I know from a detached viewpoint but true never the less.

It does seem from evidence that Kati did try to pull one over on you for sure ( I know nothing about cresties) but trust me there are many, many more instances here where the op ended up with nothing at the end of the day!

An upsetting experience for sure but one where it seems you are getting out of relatively unscathed compared to a lot of other similar BOI threads.

Sorry if you got upset over my post, that was not the intent, rather to show you just how badly this could have ended up for you. And not to try and belittle your own bad experience with Kati.

Not many bad guys even bother to respond and even less offer a full refund!
 
My personal life was brought into this when I posted every email between me and her. This was done so there were no inconsistencies in email, which could make me come off as I was hiding something. I made sure nothing could be disputed. This should have NEVER happened if she was as reputable as everything I read. There still lack of excuse as to why it was done to begin with. NO one should settle for a refund minus shipping on false advertising. Which is the deal she stated at first. No restock fees, no shipping charges coming or going. Could she refuse? Of course she could. We both could. This isn't just a matter of $820, it's a matter oF principle. Everyone is different when it comes to how they handle things. This has been nothing short of an emotional rollarcoaster for me. From being mortified, to crushed, to very angry. You might just see an animal, I see a little personable life, but that doesn't mean I should take being lied to and about. People jumping to call my integrity in question, why exactly? Because I want answers? Because I wont accept her first offer? It would mean I am out money for her wrong doing, and that's not right.. I have no issue sending this gecko back. But telling me that I'm the one who needs to be grateful? I didn't have to post here. I could have let her not say anything in response to my email, and taken to building a website with all the proof. I could have skipped wanting to hear excuses and giving her the chance to come here. Then what? Ya, I wouldn't have the 820, but there would be a lot more explaining to people more important to her if anyone pulled her name for reference regarding anything. Distrust is crappy...having trust issues with people, as well as not being trusted. Which is why I go through with anything I commit to, and don't give a reason for it. Ever. I've not done anything in this transaction to not be trusted. I have been nothing but upfront and honest with her every step of the way. As far as people not trusting ME to send this animal back.. remember somethimg.. I wasn't the one trying to pass off a fired down buckskin that was purchased in quantity from some hobby breeder, as a true (non existant) moonglow for $2000. I'm just the nimrod who fell for it at a discounted price.

When I say lucky and gratefull, maybe gratefull was a poor choice and should have been gracious.
By post #56 you had won.....all that was required after that was to thrash out the details which could have been done a little less painfully if you had not still been emotionally charged which is again easy for me to say and not always easy to accomplish.

What I am saying is that Kati did not have to appear and offer a full refund, you could have carried on your plan to besmirch her name any way you choose ( although this bad guy BOI will impact her reputation have no fear!)

But what she also could have done after your reaction was disappear again leaving you empty handed, even though you have high principles which I do admire and try to adhere to my own set during business transactions, you could have ended up with nothing at all.

That would have been what we call "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory"

I have nothing more to add bar the fervent hope that Kati makes good on her promise of a full refund and the little gecko gets shipped back safe and sound, although tbh with his perceived value it does make me wonder how worthwhile that is to Kati? Unless it is to try and deceive another buyer??

Let the transaction take place then people can poke and probe all they want. I'm more interested in the person getting their money back first. Hopefully they do and send back the gecko.
 
Lisa wasn't the only one who noticed that the seller was not going to refund the shipping costs, both ways. That was in her first comment in this thread.

Lisa, I issued a couple of refunds through PayPal. I could only issue refunds in the manner you suggested for payments you sent me in the last 60 days. I messed up (didn't select the correct payment source before checking "send refund") and sent them through an old closed bank account so they aren't going to clear on your end. I called PayPal and they said that you will be getting an email saying the funds didn't come through. My only available options now to get you the cash quickly are Western Union or a MoneyGram, or to mail you a postal money order. I know you have limited access to a car so I don't know what you prefer. If I wire you the money, you can get it as soon as today, cash in hand (for the full amount of the cost of Elvis plus shipping).
 
Honestly, it might be cheaper to do paypal my cash cards. It's $4 per $500 (500 limit per card)..and all I would need is the number to add the funds to my pp. You can get them at 7-11, cvs, and a list of other stores. Not sure how much they charge for western union, as I havent used it in a long time. I would have to find one local where I could walk.. I wouldn't be able to do it this late though as anything local would be closed already here.

I cant say I'm not baffled though.. when you first posted you said paypal filed the dispute and pulled money from your account. That's normally because the account attached is an updated bank account.. so why they automatically pulled from a closed account when you clicked refund is baffling.. it should have automatically gone to the open account. I've been with pp for over 10 years, maybe they changed. Oh well.

At this point i believe kati believes the gecko is worth that amount of money. And the tantrum from the OP frankly has me doubting a tad that the gecko will be shipped back at all. (possibly as some form of revenge?) the original deal to ship back the gecko first is completely reasonable and what most if not all sellers offer. Issuing a refund before you have your gecko back ,imo, wouldnt be the wisest decision. In the beginning i was completely on the OPs side with this, but after all thats happened im leaning towards the sellers side more and more. I mean, if the OP believed as much as she stated that the gecko is only worth the same as any petsmart gecko (which it probably is) then i see no reason to accept the free shipping label and ship him back.
