In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Yes Lisa $820. I don't know what PayPal My Cash cards are and I don't feel comfortable spending that much money buying them if something went wrong. I can do Western Union or MoneyGram (most CVS stores and Walmarts have this option). Or, if you don't mind waiting, I can mail you a postal money order tomorrow through Priority Mail. You can have 2 weeks from the date you actually get the money to ship him back.

At this point i believe kati believes the gecko is worth that amount of money. And the tantrum from the OP frankly has me doubting a tad that the gecko will be shipped back at all. (possibly as some form of revenge?) the original deal to ship back the gecko first is completely reasonable and what most if not all sellers offer. Issuing a refund before you have your gecko back ,imo, wouldnt be the wisest decision. In the beginning i was completely on the OPs side with this, but after all thats happened im leaning towards the sellers side more and more. I mean, if the OP believed as much as she stated that the gecko is only worth the same as any petsmart gecko (which it probably is) then i see no reason to accept the free shipping label and ship him back.

I believe you are reading too much into Lisa's emotional outburst.
Nothing she has said or done makes me doubt her word.

You have your opinion.. I am fully justified in my own and the fact that all trust was lost. If I was a "revenge" type person, I never would have come here, I would have just plastered it all over the Internet. Like I said before, it's not just a matter of money,.. I dont keep things that are not mine and I certainly do NOT want somethimg for nothing. But I won't let someone with SOOO much knowledge on crested geckos, who knows there is no such thing as a moonglow, and who lied to me, make ME be the one having to trust again. If you feel I threw a temper tantrum, then by all means.. that is your opinion.. was I angry? Yes.. stubborn, perhaps... but once more, I was not the one knowingly passing off a fired down buckskin as a moonglow for $2000.

Kati, it is a prepaid card, blue and white and is a bit easier.. I dont have a cvs or Walmart close enough to walk. I don't know how long they give you to claim the money, if no one local to me has it, I might have to wait until sat afternoon or Monday to get it.

I will have to wait until I get the car
.. the one place that would have the money only allows a max of 300 to be picked up.. so I need to make sure I will be able to still get it at least by Saturday.

From the look of the seller wanting the gecko back as apposed to giving you a partial refund and letting you keep the gecko, I dont believe that she knew it wasnt a moonglow regardless of whether they exist or not. Im sure anyone can find pleanty of people who believe moonglows exists. You say she knowingly sold a fired down buckskin, but i believe if that was true then wouldnt she rather have taken you up on the partial refund offer as opposed to the full refund?

Lisa, why don't I mail you a postal money order tomorrow. It should arrive in 2-3 days (I will send it Priority Mail) and then you can take it to the bank when you get time. These are guaranteed by the federal government to be good. That way I don't have to send you smaller amounts of money at a time if $300 is the limit and you don't have to worry about the day to pick it up from the store.

Why not send the refund through PayPal as friends and family, as a single payment, so there's no fee taken out? Or send a check through your bank account to the OP, most accounts have a free bill pay option (this is how I give my roommates my part of rent).

Y'all are making this super complicated, choosing a closed bank account first, then wanting to faff around with a money wire.

I wouldnt send a refund via friends and family. Maybe just make it a whole new transaction through paypal thats protected. Money for gecko + shipping. no need for friends and family to use paypal

Because PayPal will take a cut of the money, she will not get a full refund.

Refund it as friends and family, there's no fee. The seller doesn't need PayPal protection when she's sending a refund back to the buyer. No, she doesn't "need" to send it that way, but since the buyer apparently can't cash a check (why not have husband do it when he's on the way to/coming home from/on break at work??).

There's so many excuses back and forth why this won't work, that was a mistake, this other thing is too inconvenient, whatever. Refund it through PayPal, use friends and family so there's no fee, and by god, be done with it already.

She said she can't use paypal. So that's out. I won't have the car until Saturday, where I can find and go to a western union that will let me take out the full amount. My bank is not local. I suggested paypal my cash as it is cheaper, and available almost everywhere. You go in, get two cards, load one with 500 and the other with 320. The only thing I would need is the number off the card and I would add that to my paypal ... I haventered used WU in literally 6 years or so.. and a few places here stopped doing it. The one place I thought for sure would do it is the new walgreens they just opened.. but they only allow a max of 300.. which to me is just stupid. I will just have to go Sat and hope it can still be picked up.

Because this was my birthday gift that I paid for .. that's why I won't let my husband even know about it. If I did, It will end up god knows where... but thats more personal business. I don't fully understand why not back through paypal, as that's how it was sent, but Kati said she can't use it.. so no clue

I've never used Western Union, but I imagine they're good for a few weeks at least.

I don't understand why she could issue a refund through PayPal, but now can't just send you money with it? There's also a banker's draft, which costs her a fee but is guaranteed funds. Those should be good for a couple months. And it can just be deposited into your bank like a normal check. Any reloadable prepaid card will also work, but may have a monthly maintenance fee and may not allow money to be withdrawn but you'd have to wait for it to arrive in post.

ANY of these options should be sent with signature required regardless of what you go with.

That's probably the best option, then. Basically instant, and she could photo the account number and send it to you so no danger of typing it in wrong.

I'd say that's probably the best option and better than messing around with money orders etc which have limited cashing options (when I worked at CVS, we wouldn't cash anything over 200-300 dollars, either). It also won't require a third party or shipping.

I don't have a problem with that. Just know, that you have to check your limits. Normally only 500 a day can be loaded to paypal. So if you load the 300 card, you can't load the 500 until tomorrow or 24 hours later.

Yes, she would need the protections of paypal because shes issuing a refund BEFORE the gecko is in her possession. The protection will be there incase A: The gecko doesnt get to her, or B: The gecko arrives dead. That is why you never send money via family and friends option when your doing business. Refund or not, this is business.
