Careful with that axe...
To follow up on my previous post
Years ago, while I was still practicing medicine I was the medical consultant at an inpatient unit at a community mental health center . At any given time there were always two or three young females with "Borderline Personality Disorder". "Borderlines" often engage in self injurious behaviors. Often one would punch a wall or something similar. Sometimes a "Boxer's Fracture" would even result (that's a fracture of the distal end of hand bone just below the 5th finger, the 5th metacarpal). Invariably, fractured or not, the girl would come and say "Doc, it hurts! What are you going to do about it?". Of course there were always analgesics available but that wasn't the point. The girl wanted immediate resolution of the situation. My answer would usually be to remind her that next time she shouldn't punch a wall.
Tosha, I know it hurts. Next time, don't punch a wall. The result is always the same.
