Chris, kidding about rape isn't funny, I do not think it was an amusing post: rape is not the fault of the woman.

I took the whole "rape story" as sarcasm used to make the point that it wasn't the daughters fault or Tosha's even though they both had warnings.

Thank you. I was beginning to lose faith in the comprehension skills of the average American.

Of course, it is completely my fault. The cardinal rule is "Know Thy Audience." I broke the rule by assuming that everyone would recognize the point of that example. Obviously I was wrong. I've learned a good lesson today.

Lucille,

I was not kidding. I was serious in my point that it is never the victim's fault. And I used the most serious example I could think of to prove that point. That, in itself, is testament to my belief in the seriousness of the crime.

"I took the whole "rape story" as sarcasm used to make the point that it wasn't the daughters fault or Tosha's even though they both had warnings.
We need to keep our eye on the ball here, we all agree that Katie is a bad bad person. Lets stick with that. -Chris Ahrens"

That is great that for you. However, I am curious as to how would saying that in sarcasm back his point? Honestly, you can take it however you like. I found it offensive and so did others. So, if someone is going to say something like that, I will call them on the carpet every time. Yes, Katie is bad. No argument there. But I do not need to be told where I need to keep my comments to. I think what I said needed to be said.

"You are totally correct. It is Tosha's fault. She knew of the danger. She was warned. She asked for the sale anyway. She was ripped off. It is Tosha's fault.

Just as if I were to warn my daughter that the new boy on the block is bad news. Stay away from him. My daughter likes the boy. She thinks he's cute. She puts on make-up and a pretty dress and leaves to meet him at a party. He drugs and rapes her. It is totally my daughter's fault. She knew of the danger. She was warned. She asked for the date. She was raped. It is my daughter's fault."Chris

So let me get this straight, you meant it in sarcasm??? So you were really backing Tosha, and we are all too slow to be able to comprehend your sophisticated sense of sarcasm. You were actually trying to defend her. Is that your story? Because if your answer is no, then how would your poor analogy prove your point in sarcasm? You should cut your losses and get out while you can.

"I was not kidding. I was serious in my point that it is never the victim's fault. And I used the most serious example I could think of to prove that point. That, in itself, is testament to my belief in the seriousness of the crime. Chris"

WHAT???? Did you even read your post? You are looking worse with each and every post you make. You are actually trying to say that you meant the opposite now? What is with you? Look Chris, you just need to think before you post. It is as simple as that. The more you try to justify your remarks, the deeper you get yourself. Do you really want to continue with this?

Once again...you fail to recognize the point of my post.

Yes. The example was in defense of Tosha. And yes. I was serious about my position on defending her. Rape is a serious crime. It is NEVER the victim's fault. How is this so difficult for you to comprehend? Skip it. I don't wish to know.

To Everyone: I apologize to anyone who did not immediately understand the point of the example. I fully expected everyone to realize my point -- crime, no matter what the crime, is never the victim's fault. That conclusion obviously eluded a few people. If you were offended...I apologize. If you were not offended...you understood.

However, since explaining the simplicity of this to some people seems quite impossible, I will graciously excuse myself from this discussion.

chris, you're an IDIOT.

If you do business with a KNOWN liar and suspected scammer and THEN you get taken advantage of it is YOUR fault, you, the victim, asked for it.

DUMBASS.

Chris, I got it the first time. Everyone else did too. No need to explain any further. You fail to realize that it’s not an analogy that people like to see. That analogy has been thrown around so much it seems that mentioning it in regards to lesser crimes, lessens that crime. The same goes for the holocaust.

So, we got your point thanks a bunch and goodbye.

Chris, I think the analogy you used was a poor one. When I pointed that out a few pages back I fully expected you to look over what you had written and come back with an apology, but not one of this nature.

This apology is like a fish hook, if one accepts it, one must also by the terms of the apology be willing to say one misunderstood what was written.

I did not misunderstand but found the post offensive; and I find this purported apology even more so.

Just as a general reflection, it IS difficult to read something and see that what has written is just...well.....stupid. I have been called out on some posts I have written in the past that were less than stellar (as in, what was I THINKING?) and have come back and made amends.

Integrity demands that one understands what one has done, chooses not to defend but rather admits the error, apologizes, makes amends if necessary, and then moves on and does better.

Anyone called to the BOI for any justifiable reason would do well to read this definition of integrity and then try to live by it. Just my opinion.

Lucille,

I have never read a better definition of what integrity really means. That is far and away the most intelligent comment on this entire thread.

Chris,

I have stayed on the sidelines with respect to your comment until now. But seriously, you messed up. Your meaning was clear and it simply was WRONG. Take Lucille's advice and own up to it, make a real apology, and move on. You have tried to twist your meaning every which way and all you are doing is tightening that noose.

Rape is a horrifying criminal act about violence and control. Being scammed while trying to out-thief a thief is so much more than a bit different. Neither is justified, but no matter how many questionable choices a girl makes in terms of attire, make-up, the chemicals that she ingests, or the company she keeps she is NEVER at fault in a rape. Believe me. I have lived with a woman for many tears who was raped as an 18 year old, by her then boyfriend's "friend". She couldn't (still hasn't) been able to even tell her parents because of that type of attitude which still pervades much of the world's collective psyche. I hope and pray that your daughter never faces that choice, but if she does, I hope that she is able to tell you. In turn I hope that you will remind her of how much you love and support her, and not harp on her poor choices.

That's 'cuz she's smart and is gonna be a Lawyer. :raspberry

Chris,

What were you thinking? I guess you weren't. You need to think prior to making a post.

Back to the subject at hand. I stand by my statement on the other Katie thread with only one change:

If it smells like doo doo, then chances are it's doo doo. Maybe another turd has been flushed out? :toiletcla

There doesn't seem to be any maybe about it.

Nope, no doubt at all. And maybe one or two others.

Jim,

I agree completely. That was my point.

Lucille,

A sincere apology was given. Once again...I do SINCERELY apologize for offending anyone. If mentioning this was offensive, then I made a poor choice. I admit it. I apologize.

However, I still can not fathom how this could be offensive. I was saying that it is NEVER the victim's fault. It is NEVER the victim's fault no matter what the crime. How is this point offensive? What father would EVER blame his daughter for this crime? None. It is NEVER the victim's fault. Simple.

The original statement was NOT meant to be taken literally. I honestly believe that everyone would see the OBVIOUS absurdity of the statement, thus seeing the absurdity of the idea that being scammed was Tosha's fault. Simple.

If this point was not immediately recognized, then I sincerely apologize to anyone who took offense at misunderstanding my point.

Good Day,
Chris

Chris,

Lucille (and most everyone else) was looking for exactly this:

The problem is you keep adding stuff like this:

Anything followed by "However" is an excuse. I suggest that you re-read Lucille's definition of integrity. Burn it into your mind and your psyche.

:slamit: :slamit: :slamit:

why, oh why...can't you just apologize and stop trying to defend a stupid post on your part?????????????? aAAAAARRRrggggh !!!

Anyone with any sense can understand why it is offensive...and yes, we all understood it...just like I understand jokes that are told in 5th grade...but that doesn't mean that they are funny.

How many holes does your foot have in it so far?

greg

Apologies

Okay. One last time...

If the problem lies in the fact that merely mentioning the word was offensive no matter what the context, then I do sincerely apologize. I understand this now...and I was wrong.

If the problem lies in the fact that some people misunderstood and thought I was actually blaming my daughter, then my INTEGRITY does not allow me to take blame for someone else's lack of understanding.

Farewell,
Chris

I've tried to stay out of this one....

....but it's just kept going on, and I have to put my thoughts in here.

My 14 year old daughter's best friend was sexually assaulted, and if it weren't for MY daughter's fight and God-awful scream, she would have been a VICTIM also. Instead she was locked in the next room and forced to listen to her best friend be assaulted. YES, the girls were proably in lacking in judgement in going to the home of a much older boy that they trusted. Does that make the GIRLS at fault??? Hell no. Since then, her grades have plummeted, she was on the verge of being suicidal, and we have had to move her into her Dad's house, an hour from home.....and do you want to know why???

Because the morons in the justice system figure since the girls went to this boy's house WILLINGLY, they can't PROVE that they weren't guilty of WANTING to be raped. Therefore, the boys are still in school, and the girls were endlessly harrassed for DOING THE RIGHT THING and telling someone about it. So now she'll be having to deal with the guilt and nightmares and pain for THE REST OF HER LIFE, and I can't have my own daughter living at home where she belongs. OUR home was torn apart by it, the other girl's home was destroyed and she's actually now in an inpatient mental help facility now because she DID try to commit suicide, not to mention losing all sense of self-worth. None of us involved will EVER be the same.

Regardless of whether of not you meant that your daughter would actually be to blame, the whole idea of even COMPARING a snake transaction to a child being raped is incredibly inconceivable and offensive. You got ripped off on a few snakes? Too bad, resell them if you must, whatever, but you go on with life. I've yet to see someone have nightmares and become suicidal over buying some snakes.

I think CJ is a nice guy! No sense in killing him for a comment.

I hear right-wing radio talk show/TV hosts get away with alot worse all the time.
